《Alpha Dylan》Chapter 38 | The Betrayal

I glared out of the window at my Alpha, confusion masking my face as his eyes met mine.

Scowling, he quickly turned and made his ways into the trees, but not before smirking at me devilishly, disappearing into the dark and dingy forest.

"I thought you had left..." I mumbled to myself, quickly pulling the blinds shut, turning around and leaning up against the wall, running my hands through my hair.

"Um, are you okay?" asked Gia, chuckling, raising a thin eyebrow at me.

I shook my head, running my hands through my dark hair, holding a finger up at my best friend. "Wait just one second."

Making my way out of my front door, I pulled my phone out of my pocket, quickly dialling Dylan's number. "Come on...pick up, pick up."

I gazed down at my phone angrily as the call went to voicemail, gripping it in my hand, almost crushing it to pieces. Growling, I turned, striding towards the treeline quickly, heading in the direction of Dylan's pack, knowing Dean wouldn't be too far.

"Dean!" I yelled as I wound around the trees, turning in every direction, attempting to sniff him out. "Dean!"

Suddenly, Dean's wolf appeared from behind me, his head cocked to the side slightly as he gazed at me through bright eyes.

"Thank God, I thought you'd left," I sighed, smiling, "I have a weird feeling. Alpha Paul was supposed to have left for the Alpha meeting by now, but he's still here, and he didn't look very happy."

Dean's wolf huffed at me, shaking its head, causing me to growl.

"No, don't look at me like that. It just seemed odd. Dylan's driver had said that Alpha Paul had already left. It's probably nothing, but he just seemed...different."

Dean's rolled his eyes, quickly disappearing behind a tree before reappearing wearing a pair of black jeans, his pecks and abs completely on show.

"It's probably nothing Clara, but if you feel uneasy about it then just come back to Dylan's now, invite whoever you want. Alpha Paul is a creep anyway," he said, shrugging, folding his arms across his chest.

"Okay," I said, nodding my head, "I'll text Gia and Matthew to meet us there. Sorry about all of this."

Dean held his hands up, shaking his head, smirking at me. "Anything for the princess."

Rolling my eyes, I followed him through the trees, looking up at him as we sped through the forest, noticing how much he looked like my mate, the sharp jawline and nose almost identical.

"Do you want to stop staring?" teased Dean, which made me avert my eyes, feeling embarrassed that I had been caught looking a little longer than necessary.

"Sorry, you just look a lot like Dylan."

"Everyone says that. They think we're brothers," replied Dean, grabbing my hand and helping me over a large boulder, ensuring I didn't trip or fall, injuring myself.

"You practically are."

Dean shrugged, chewing on the inside of his cheek. "Not anymore."

"Where did you go when you left? Dylan said you would come and go."

"Wherever I felt like," shrugged Dean, chuckling, "humans are fun."

"Fun?" I questioned, raising an eyebrow.

"They're naïve. It's fun to watch how easily I can manipulate them."

I scoffed, rolling my eyes. "You really are a dick."

"At least I know it," he replied, picking up the pace suddenly, his brows becoming furrowed as he jogged ahead, peering around the trees.

"Dean? Are you okay?" I questioned, making my way over to him as he scowled.

"Something smells off. Stay close to me," he replied, grabbing me by the waist and drawing me to him, holding onto me tightly as we strode through the forest towards Dylan's territory.

"A rogue?" I whispered, my heart rate quickening at the thought.

Dean shook his head, chewing on his bottom lip. "No."

"Then what-"

"Shh!" Dean shushed me, pushing me back so I was leaning against a tree, his hand covering my mouth.

The scent of blood wafted through the air, and I gasped in fear underneath Dean's hand, the sound of skin hitting skin echoing throughout the forest, growls and grunts coming soon after.

"Do. Not. Move," warned Dean in my ear as he quickly shifted into his large black wolf, jumping out from behind the tree. I could hear his ferocious growls as he battled with another wolf, causing me to peak my head around the tree, my eyes widening as I gazed at the sight before me.

There were too many wolves to count, all fighting, pinning each other down, ripping each other apart, blood pooling together on the forest floor, trickling down the slope past me, creating a claret red river.

I gasped as a few of the wolves got closer , leaping on each other, causing one of them to come smashing into the tree I was hiding behind, sending me flying through the air, landing on the ground with a thud, skidding across the sticky mud.

I quickly stood up, clutching my throbbing wrist, turning to see the two wolves still tackling each other, too engrossed in their fight to notice me.

Gasping, I stared over at Dean as he grabbed a small brown wolf by the neck, ripping its head clean off, throwing it against a tree. Suddenly, his eyes met mine, and he widened them, growling at me quickly, angry that I was now standing in the open completely exposed.

I took a step forwards, ready to shift, eager to join the fight, despite knowing that I would most likely get myself killed, but Dean growled again, louder this time, baring his teeth at me as he shoved a few wolves out of the way, breaking their spines in half, his eyes glaring at me with warning, daring me to disobey him.

Gulping, I shifted into my wolf and ran, tears forming in my eyes as I pushed past bushes and shrubs, ploughing into them as fast as I could, my paws padding against the ground harshly.

Eventually, the treeline of Dylan's territory slowly came into view and I gasped as I quickly checked behind me, noticing a group of large wolves chasing me, foaming at the mouth, their eyes set on me as if I was their prey, and they couldn't wait to taste my blood.

Skidding to a halt, I turned around, not wanting to draw the wolves deeper into Dylan's territory in case they killed anyone innocent. Looking into their eyes angrily, I bared my teeth, pouncing on them, biting into their necks which caused them to growl ferociously, kicking me back.

I winced at the crack of my ribs, knowing they had probably been re-broken, but I pushed myself back up, backing away from the huge maroon coloured wolf that was now approaching me, his sheer size causing me to whimper, my body starting to shake.

The wolf licked his lips as he growled at me, towering over me, his glowing eyes boring into my glassy ones, my vision slightly impaired as I tried my best to make out the creature in front of me.

I bowed my head subconsciously, causing me to gasp to myself, not even realising what I was doing, but then, my body shifted, and I was left there standing as a weak human in front of a group of furious wolves.

The marron coloured wolf shifted, revealing himself to me, causing my breath to get caught in my throat, almost making me choke.

Alpha Paul.

"That's better," he said, chuckling wickedly, "it was about time you started listening to me instead of constantly testing my patience."

Suddenly, Dean burst through the treeline, dirty and blood covered, growling at Alpha Paul as he came into view, making his way over to me, pushing me back.

"What are you...?" I trailed off, completely shocked that Alpha Paul and his fighters had pushed past Dylan's defence and made it onto his territory.

"Your foolish Alpha mate of yours taught us those tricks," sneered Alpha Paul, taking a step closer to me, causing Dean to growl.

"What are you doing? Why are you doing this?" I questioned, attempting to shift back, but growling in frustration when my body disallowed me.

"Your wolf doesn't want to challenge me, little girl," laughed Alpha Paul, "do not shift. That's an order."

I fell to the floor, attempting to fight Alpha Paul's Alpha tone, but it was too strong, and my wolf had practically disappeared, shying away from challenging her Alpha's orders.

"Grab him," ordered Paul, nodding over to Dean who lunged for him, but was quickly met by three other wolves, who knocked him to the ground, pinning him down painfully by the neck, twisting his limbs, almost breaking them. Dean growled out in pain, eyeing me pleadingly as he shoved one of the wolves off of him, snapping at them.

"No! Stop this, please!" I cried, gazing over to the other side of the territory, noticing more of Dylan's fighters sprinting across the field towards us, their paws hitting the ground loudly, the sound getting increasingly closer.

"Let's make this quick," mumbled Alpha Paul as he took a step towards me, cupping my cheeks, gazing into my eyes, a smirk playing at his lips.

"What do you want?" I whispered as a single tear rolled down my cheek as I flinched away from Paul's touch, my hands shaking by my side, hearing Dean's furious growls behind me.

"An eye for an eye, my dear."
