《Mine to Protect (Completed)》Chapter 54

Sophia's POV
I waited for the attack that I knew was coming. Hell I was listening to them hash out the details as we made our way to the stage. They had figured out that Knox's shield was keeping me safe and devised a plan so separate us. His shield only worked in close ranges.
Edgar was going to go for Knox as Alice worked on Vlad's guards. Maximus was heading for Vlad personally. Helen and James were coming for me. Their plan was to divide and conquer. I calmly listened showing no emotion until they mentioned Brian taking out Ella. I nearly lost my control and killed him right then and there. To think the bastard still aimed to kill his own child.
I sent out the warnings to Raine, Ella and Noah. Raine promised to protect her as well as Noah. Both kids were prepared. Vlad and his men were prepared. Our guards were prepared. I just needed to know when they were going to strike.
...Helen and James, you need to eliminate Sophia. Edgar will attack Knox and I will go for Vlad. We need to separate them from each other in order to take them down. Alice shift and take out the guards from above. Brian as I attack Vlad you need to take down Ella and Noah. There can be no survivors in their blood like to pass the title down to...is that understood. Once they turn and face the crowd...attack. After the leaders are dead we move onto the pack members...
Oh hell no. Knox grabbed my hand as Maximus finished his speech. Everyone was in place.
As Knox placed a kiss on my cheek all hell broke loose.
Alice shifted and shot up into the air reigning fire balls down into the crowds and guards. Edgar shifted and tackled Knox to the ground and fortunately Knox was prepared and was already in wolf form when the landed.
Before Brian moved an inch, Vlad had already snapped his neck and his body fell to the floor. Seconds later Maximus was attacking him. Before I could turn around a force hit my back throwing me out onto the field that was now on fire. I could hear chuckling behind me as Helen and James made their way to me. Shit that hurt. Fuck this. Gaea, they are all yours.

She surged forward immediately. By the time we rose to our feet she had full control.
"Oh I am so sorry your majesty did that hurt?" Helen said sarcastically.
"Not as much as this is going to." Not giving them anytime to respond I reached out and drained Helen of her magic. Her scream echoed over the land as her body fell to the ground. I could feel her magic flow through my body. Turning I focused my eyes on a very shocked James.
Stunned for a second he lasted out sending another blast towards my chest. I absorbed the energy and sent it right back to him. His body was dead before it hit the ground. Another scream was pulled from Helen as she crawled over to her dead mate and looked at me.
"H-how is it p-possible? W-what are you?"
"I am your worst nightmare and it is time for you and the other Council members to pay for the way you have treated our people for centuries. James got off easy. But you...well now you are going to spend a long time paying for your wrongs."
With a flick of my fingers a cage appeared around her and her dead mate. Two down, three to go. I looked over to Vlad and Knox and noticed they both were holding their own. The fire balls that were coming down from the sky needed my attention as one landed a few feet from me. Looking up I noticed Alice flying circles around the field.
Harry...are you able to hit her with any arrows?
No my queen, she is too far away and above us. The trees make it difficult to hit her. We need to put out the fire.
Great suggestion.
Okay time to test controlling the elements...water to be more specific. Looking around I was trying to find something to assist me. Just then Alice swooped down and fired at the guards again. Now I could see why she was so powerful. It was impossible to see her and she was super-fast. I was going to need large amounts of water to simmer her down. Where could I get large amounts of water...think...think...THE LAKE.

I turned to face the direction of the lake that was a few hundred yards away. Summoning the water I controlled the waves as they floated through the air until they were directly above us. I waited until the Phoenix once again soared into the air and then I released the water.
It was a direct hit as she suddenly plummeted to the ground as wet wings could not fly. The one weakness of any bird. The water also helped put out the fires that were everywhere that were starting to spread. Huh...two birds one stone...I chuckled at my little joke as I made my way over to where the Phoenix laid on the ground. Her skin seemed to smolder as she looked up at me.
"I don't understand. How? Primes cannot control the elements."
"You know the answer to that Alice. You all know who my grandmother is...ah yes I see you are now starting to understand. I was just curious...whose idea was it to put Brian in my path?"
"Maximus. Even though we knew your powers were no existent we could not kill you as that is one rule we cannot break since you were technically human. Brian was sent to make sure that you never got them. But as he got older he struggled with his powers and then he found his mate. James kept him from her and he resented it. The FBI job was his cover and when we left you he went to her. But then James would order him back to you."
"And that was why he abused us. So he was pawn in this all as well. You know the ironic part in all of this. If Brian just would have left me alone, I would have never fled and found my mate. So technically your interference was the catalyst in me coming to my powers. But you know what really bugs me...the fact that he abused his own daughter. That I could not forgive. Where is the rule that says not to abuse your own flesh?"
"We didn't know about that. He kept Ella a secret until recently. His mate didn't even know and now she wants nothing to do with him."
"Well doesn't matter as he is dead. Along with Helen and James. And now you."
Since I know that you can never actually kill a phoenix as they are reborn from their ashes I came up with a way to make sure that does not happen. Closing my eyes I concentrated on separating the phoenix from the human. Purple light surrounded her as she cried out in the must gut wrenching pain. When the light dissipated, before me laid two separate beings. A human and a phoenix. Right before my eyes the phoenix bursted into flames and dissolved into a pile of smoldering ash.
Alice cried out as she watched her phoenix die right before her eyes. Not taking the chance I swirled my finger around until all the ashes in the shape of a tornado. Below appeared a large urn filled with water and I fed the ashes inside.
"You see Alice a phoenix cannot be reborn if its ashes are unable to seal themselves together. These ashes will continue to float in this water, never allowing them to form. As for you...well I am afraid you my dear are now as human as Helen and will spend your time paying for your sins."
With a flick of my wrist Alice's body was transported to the same cage as Helens.
Four down...two to go.
