《Alpha Daryl Reeds》Chapter 10

Later after Daryl gave up on trying to me to eat, I thought of a plan on how to go see my family. I knew Daryl wouldn't be happy about it but this was torture not seeing them. Kevin didn't come to watch me Daryl really did make him give up his Beta rank. A new guy came in he looked nothing like Kevin not even friendly, his name was Hunter.
Hunter stood in the corner of the room, not looking at me just watching the room. Boring I thought. "Can I go for a walk?" I asked him.
"No." He growled.
Damn, why the fuck is he an ass? Then again almost everyone in Daryl's pack probably was. I wondered if he was the guy who told me not to cross the pond into my pack's territory. That's how I was getting to see my family of course.
"I need to shift it's been a few weeks, it's bad for my wolf." I tell him heading to the door, I wasn't going to keep me here.
"You'll have to wait for Alpha Daryl to let you."
Mhm, I thought now I've gotta shake him from me. "Okay, well then if I'm not allowed to shift I'm going to take a nap."
Hunter didn't say anything, he's eyes just followed me until he couldn't see me on the stairs anymore. I go into my bedroom and look for the windows. They were all big enough to climb out of but the question was will they open? I pull the curtains from the first window. Nothing, I sighed, of course the Alpha wouldn't want anyone to break in will he wasn't home, so he made the windows hard to open unless you broke them. I couldn't do that or Hunter would hear.
The bathroom had a window, I realized that I could have done this months ago, but I don't know why it took me so long it made me mad at myself. Now is not the time, I think to myself. The bathroom window opens, and I look down, the drop isn't as bad as it was when I fell out of that tree. I could probably fall on my feet, maybe break my ankle, I can't I haven't shifted in a while my wolf is probably weak. I wouldn't heal fast enough to shift into my wolf and get out of here.
I don't think as I lower my skinny body out the window, I try hard to land on my ass, I don't think about my back and possibly breaking my spine, I think of Fred lying in a hospital bed like I laid in bed for 3 months. He's breathing slow, tubes in his arms and down his throat feeding him. I think over and over how this is Daryl's fault that if he didn't attack our pack Fred wouldn't be hurt. What was the point of his attack anyways?

I shift as soon as I hit the ground it was pain full, but my wolf loved it to be free, she knows what to do, we make it out of the territory without being stopped. If anyone saw me they sure didn't say anything maybe just went straight to Daryl.
The earth was wet as if it rained, the air smelled like it did. But it wasn't raining yet or just did. I didn't see anyone around the pond, I made my way into my old pack's territory. My old house seemed empty like no one been home for weeks, the grass needed a cut, the toys from Ashley never picked up.
"Joyce?" A voice asked from behind me, my blood grew cold. I turned around at Riley.
"What?" I asked.
The other girl seemed sad. "We didn't know if you were coming back no one knew what happened to you when the attack happened. The other Alpha killed my father, and because I'm mateless, the Alpha position went to your father."
My legs almost fell out from under me, what happened while I was away? Who else died? Riley must have seen something in my face because she took my hand. "Come on your mother probably with your brother, they are thinking of pulling the plug."
"Riley," I said in a shaky voice. "What happened to our pack?"
"The attack happened so quickly, my father and I had just walked away from you when they came out of the woods, my father pushed me out of the way and shifted, but they got to him while he was still human and hurt him with something he couldn't heal from. I ran to the cellars, I saw your father leave your mother and sister down there. He said he'd be back with you, but he never did come back. Jake came later and told her that you were taken." Riley paused.
"They didn't say why, just that you didn't have a choice, but that the men were pulling back from fighting. Jake guessed you guys were mates. But they didn't get a chance to talk more about it when Axel came to say, the Alpha was killed, and Fred had been seriously hurt." She looked at me we were close to the hospital.
"Riley, i'm so sorry, like I told my brothers I tried to reject him, but he rejected the rejection." I hung my head as tears formed. "I don't want to be mated to a monster, someone who's killed so many people."
"It's okay, my mother along with your parents agreed that until I find my mate your father would be Alpha, my mother is in pieces, my father and her have only been together 7 years. She tries hard to be the women of the pack while your mother griefs over a son who's not dead, but not alive either."

"What about your mom?" I asked.
"She pretends to be strong for me, but I can hear her cry at night."
"I'm sorry," I tell her I wish I could do something but bring back the dead isn't possible, going back in time and making the attack never happen isn't possible.
"Your mother did a great job with the futurnal. I think if my father was alive he'd love it."
I smiled at that my mother was a wonderful women like that. We make our way inside the hospital. I hear Riley ask for Fred Smith. I wish now that Riley and I had been friends, we could have been the best of friends.
"This is where I leave you, my mother needs me home, we have some things we have to deal with before leaving the pack."
"Your leaving? Why?"
"My mother doesn't want to be a werewolf anymore, I will go with her until I find my mate then I'll come back and run this pack."
"Good luck Riley." I tell her.
I didn't blame her mother, once you find your mate, a second chance mate is almost impossible to find, but you can either find them or just go off on your own. Some people if they both have dead mates can marry which other, or move to the human world and marry someone human as long as they never shift or speak of the werewolf world again. In some cases when your mate dies your wolf dies along with it. Or if you marry a human their kids could become werewolves, if that happens we take the kids from the parents and make them live in the werewolf world. I heard of it once.
I followed the numbers to the door Riley told me that the nurse gave her, I knocked on the door, and my brother Harry answered it.
"Joyce?" He said in surprise.
"Brother!" I yelled not so loudly because they're hurt people in other rooms.
"Look what the cat dragged in" Axel said coming from a chair next to Fred. Fred who was awake. Alive.
"Oh Fred!" I say as I run to hug him.
"Carefully, I'm still hurt."
I sit at the end of his bed. "What happened?"
Axel spoke first "how much do you know?"
I told them everything Riley told me, noticing that Mom, Dad and Ashley weren't here. Axel filled me in on what Riley didn't say or know that Fred came out to see where I'd run off too, before I mindlinked Jake to tell him that I was smelling something unfamiliar. They had attacked Fred. When the Alpha mindlinked all the men in the pack about the attack, Dad took Mom and Ashley to hide in the cellars, everyone knew Mom could fight but someone needed to go looking for me and Fred, someone needed to stay with scared Ashley. It was happening way to quick. No one knew what to do. Riley came running into the cellars saying her father had been hurt, so Jake went to see if he could help.
Dad and Harry went to see if they could find Fred, who was probably looking for me. Axel went to find his mate, she had gone to her parents for Christmas, but Axel was worried since she was pregnant with their first. I listened to them all talk about the attack everyone saw everything differently, but it all ended the same, when I asked Daryl to stop the attack he actually did. The door opened and mom walked in her hair wet like she just showered.
"Joyce!" She said. "It's so good to see you."
"Just in time mom" Axel said. "Joyce was just about to tell us what's been going on since we last saw her."
I told them everything that I did, the fighting the not eating, about what happened to Kevin. I knew my mom was upset about my not eating but she didn't say anything. A doctor came in a told us that if Fred was up to it they'd start getting the paperwork ready to let him go home. He'd been awake for a few days now.
Everything seemed like it was going to be okay, but that was only going to last until Daryl found me. Which I don't know when that was going to happen yet.
