Laid still, I sunk deeper into the blankets, obviously freshly changed, and yet they still managed to match the rooms ancient aesthetic. Surprised there's no wolf skin rug on the ground, wait, would that be the same as me having a human skin rug? I shook my head and focused on something a little less morbid. The original stone coated the walls, wooden boards helping to hold it up as they were hammered together over the ceilings and the corners. The pack had fixed up the place, Viviana said that they do renovations after every few years when needed, but it almost looked like they barely changed anything. It was still old-fashioned, almost as if they didn't want to rearrange it too much, but they still needed it to be functional up to today's standards.

Especially this room.

It wasn't like a normal room, there was no door but just an entrance to a hallway. I've heard before that Alpha's always have a room at the top of their pack house, and it's always a full level of the home, but it's not as big as the other floors. I didn't know what was out there past the hallway, oh sugar, I didn't even know what was in the full length of the hallway.

I don't think this place has been lived in for a while, I thought, especially since the old Alpha wasn't the 'true' one.

I crossed my arms behind my head and looked around the giant area, there was no TV or anything that looked remotely new-ish, but there was a bookshelf that looked newer than the rest of the things in his room.

Throwing my legs over the side, I walked towards it and skimmed over the titles of the old, leather feeling books with my fingers. Small and big. Dust had coated the edges of each one, and evolved into a thick layer of dirt. "Gross," I muttered to myself as I crumbled the dirt between my two fingers, watching as it fell to the floor.

When was the last time this place was cleaned?

I stuck my head towards the empty slot, the biggest book out of them all was missing, and it left a gaping hole. Humming to myself, I couldn't help but continue to trace my fingers along the walls and the furniture as I went around the room. Bored out of my mind.

Soft footsteps echoed throughout the whole floor, bouncing off the walls gently as the floorboards squeaked before I had turned around to see a woman stop in the entrance of the room. Her hair was pulled up into a tight bun that sat at the top of her head, her glowing blonde hair still bright. She held a covered, fancy tray up as she looked at me with wide, twinkling blue eyes, and a small smile on her lips.

"Uh," I started, my eyes darting back and forth between her and the tray that held what I assumed was food, the thought of eating something made my stomach growl. Chill out, man. "Hello?"

"Oh!" She startled herself before she pushed forward with her own form of adrenaline, rushing over to a big, wooden desk that was pressed up to one of the empty walls. "I'm so sorry, Miss Luna! I can't believe I froze up there, but you're just so pretty that I couldn't help myself!"

I placed my hands up to my chest, fiddling with my fingers as I tried my hardest to stop from smiling. "Oh, well, thank you," I blushed as I talked to her, "you're very pretty, too."

That caught me off guard, I told myself, but I'm quite flattered.

Composing myself from my tinge of embarrassment, I asked, "No problem or anything, I mean you seem to have brought food so big points there, but who are you?"

She turned towards me after placing the covered, glass tray down on the desk. Her form standing tall and professional with a white apron wrapped around her waist. "My name is Annora, and I am your personal maid, Miss Luna."

Miss Luna? Uh, what? Pardon?

"Per-Personal maid? Luna?" I questioned. "I don't think that's necessary, I'm doing pretty well on my own."

You did just try to jump out a window. You're right, but still.

"But, Miss Luna, I am just here to help!" Annora threw off my rejection as fast as I accept candy, her hand moving to almost push my words away, "There is no worries at all. This is a common practice among packs, and I would hate to shove it on you, but you being here is very big news."

Images of what happened in the movies played in my mind, becoming so needy towards the personal servant that it either drives them to poison my tea or I live my life doing literally nothing besides watch the King, my husband, marry dozens of other women. What a life. I watch too many movies. I need to get outside more often, but wait, the last time I went outdoors I ended up visiting someone's supposed to be permanent home. And, I still don't understand what possessed me to do that?

The rambling in my head continued until I heard Annora's voice perk up, "Well, Miss Luna? Are you okay?"

I finally looked up at her in surprise, wide-eyed and paranoid as I told myself to shut up and pay attention to what was going on outside of my mind. Maybe I am just crazy? That would explain a lot. "O-Oh, well, uh, it's not that necessary, I have been very independent for some time now, so-"

"Please, Miss Luna! I insist," she smiled even wider at me as she reached out for my hand, "the Alpha specifically ordered me to serve you and I really do not want to disappoint my Alpha or my future Luna!"

"You really don-"

Annora didn't look at all moved, but she did look completely ready to win this little argument. She didn't even look disappointed, but just eager. "Miss Luna, I can assure you that I will be nothing but useful."

"You're awfully convincing," I mumbled to myself before nodding and grabbing onto her hand. This was not a battle that I was going to win. "So, you serve people often?"

Annora gently pulled me towards her, and sat me down at the table where she went on to get the food ready. She pulled off the top and placed my utensils properly on the side of my plate. My eyes locked onto the feast that was breakfast. Omelettes, bacon, toast, sausage, hashbrowns-holy fudge! I think I died, is Annora secretly just an angel?

"Not exactly. I've been trained to be the Luna's servant, but many others before me also trained for this position as well, as this is one of the most important jobs in a pack. It is still a shock that I'll be the one to actually serve you!" She answered excitedly, each word coming out with pure bliss as she gushed. "But, to answer simply, I have not served anyone."

"How does that work?" I asked and picked up my fork, digging in as she stood next to me. Happiness was practically radiating off of her body.

"Yes, you should eat! You must be starved by now, you were sleeping for a while! And, well, Miss Luna, we've always made sure there was a pack member ready to serve our true Luna, but as the years went on and no Luna, we still made sure there was a replacement," she nodded to me as I shoved a piece of bacon in my mouth, watching and listening as I munched.

"Okay, let's pause there, about that whole sleeping thing, how long was I out for?"

"Roughly ten hours, Miss Luna. You went through a very rough night I heard!" Annora's smile dropped a bit, "I should have been with you, but the Alpha did not want anyone near you."

"Why?" I shook my head as I tried to remember what happened, but all I could get was a blurry mess of feeling on fire and seeing Johnny's frightened face.

"You were in a lot of pain, er, actually you were sharing a lot of pain really," she tried her best to give me a satisfying answer, but instead it left me with even more questions. "I'm sorry, but what happened was new to everyone except the Alpha."

"He's the only one who can tell me what happened, then?" I asked.

"Yes, but-"

I shoved another bite or two of my breakfast in my mouth before standing up quickly, dodging Annora's arms as I jumped up and away from her. "Excuse me, but I have important business to deal with!" I told her and ran off. Yelling out on the way, "Oh, and, please, call me Emery!"

Rushing out of the closed off room and down the hallway, my eyes ran along the walls full of anything from pictures to other artifacts. If I hadn't known any better, I would have assumed a hoarder lived here. Almost falling down when I reached the stairs, I staggered down them with my arms full of a bundle of my current outfit, and I finally managed to look over my shoulder to see that I was not being followed by Annora.

And, to think, I thought she would have tackled me down if I tried to leave.
