《The rightful Luna》Chapter 52. Family bonds

"Are they here yet?" Fenrir asked tapping his fingers. He looked truly annoyed because of the visit of the unwelcomed guests, who would come each month to the fortress to spend the night of the full moon there.

"Not yet. I told you earlier they would come in time for dinner. There's still some time until then." The beautiful blue eyed blond casually informed him, unperturbed by his tapping.

He waited some more, then an hour later, he asked again if they arrived.

"For the tenth time. No, they still have not arrived. For someone who always seems annoyed by their visit, you sure are eager for it each time!" The woman said, teasing him, a bit losing her patience.

"Of course, I am not. I am only eager to get it over with!" Fenrir replied, stopping his tapping, unpleased at the sight of her which seemed to say that she had seen through his real thoughts.

That couple came each month to calm the lycans because of the full moon, so he was only asking if they arrived so they could spend the night then be on their way again.

"Yeah, right. That's why you ordered for the kitchen to make your cousin's favorite food." She smirked, not at all afraid that he was not tapping his fingers. In the past, that tap of his would have scared anyone, but now she found it cute, like a small tantrum on his part.

"When did I? Steak with steamed vegetables are also my preferred meal. Who cares about what Salas likes?" Fenrir said quickly, trying to rebuff her words.

"Really, then why did you get upset when I cooked it for you some days ago? Your favorite meal, indeed." She immediately cornered him, giving him no chance to deny her words.

"Mom, dad!" Called the small three years old girl, standing in the doorway. She was rubbing her blue eyes with her small hand, still half asleep.

"See, you woke up Hope with your loud voice!" Clearly upset at the woman, Fenrir admonished her, immediately going towards the small girl and picked her lovingly in his arms.

The woman only sighed, and did not continue arguing with him. She had spoken quietly, he was the one who had started raising the tone of his voice, while trying to deny her words.

"My lady, their highnesses are here!" A woman came quickly, informing them of the visit.

Fenrir only hmphed, as if he was still annoyed, but was already going towards the hallway with the small girl in his arms.

"Auntie!" Called the small girl at the sight of Celia, already opening her small arms, asking to be carried by her.

Celia smiled at the small girl, and was about to hold up her arms to take her from Fenrir's arms, but Salas was faster than her and he took the girl over.

"Hello, baby girl!" Salas said, with a small smile at the sight of the ebony haired blue eyed girl, who was an exact copy of both him and Fenrir. He immediately wondered if their small baby would also look the same as his niece. The girl was lovely, but it would still be better if the child resembled Celia, he thought.

"Hey. I wanted to hold her!" Celia scolded, and tried again to take her from his arms.

"You cannot. You shouldn't carry heavy things!" He shook his head, not letting her take over the girl.

"My baby girl is not a heavy thing, watch your mouth!" Fenrir immediately voiced upset.

"Keep your anger after you lose the chess game. We are already at 521 to 135, in my favor." Salas said, unconcerned by the man who was pointing at him.

"T-that's because you cheat!" Fenrir redirected his anger, at the stingy man who reminded him of the score each time.

"Fenrir stop it, and just admit it you were defeated!" The girl's mother voice from behind him.

"That's not true! He..." Fenrir wanted to deny, but the woman who had long not been afraid of him, spoke over him like it was a normal occurrence. He was the leader of the lycans, keeping the order when Celia was not around, but in front of her it felt like that was not important at all.

"Anyway heavy things, you couldn't be... are you having a baby?" The woman gleefully asked.

Celia did not reply, and only shyly nodded, with Salas speaking for the both of them.

"Yes we will have. That's why we also wanted for you, Ofelia, and for Hope to attend the coronation. We cannot hide Celia's identity any longer."

"Hey, you did not say anything about me!" Fenrir realized, after a moment of shock at the news.

"Who wants you there?" Salas ironically spoke not looking at him, and was already walking through the hallway.

"Yeah right, that was why you reminded me to be sure to bring the invitation that had your cousin's name on it also, instead of just verbally informing them about it!" Celia immediately said, rolling her eyes.

"I only said it, because they would need the invitation to be let in by the guards." Salas denied, not stopping his steps.

"Really, they all know he is your cousin. Who wouldn't have let him inside the palace? You just did not want to tell it to his face! Not to mention, you also purposely specified to the councilmembers for the coronation day to not be near the time of the full moon." She giggled, exposing his lie.

Salas could not say anything more, of course he would not reprimand the small woman, but hurried his steps, with Fenrir, Celia and Ofelia following behind.

"Your highness, the watcher pack's members and your brother have arrived." Jenna informed, slightly bowing as soon as she entered Celia's room.

"You may rise. Alright, please inform them I will be shortly with them, the girls have only a few things left to do." Celia replied, as she was still having her hair done.

"Yes!" The maid acknowledged, and already left after stealing a small glance. The other maids had not finished preparing her, but she could already see her beauty shining through. She smiled, closing the door behind her.

Shortly after being informed that she would be coming to the living room in a few more minutes, where the watchers and Daniel were waiting, the door opened. Through it, stepping inside the room, the neatly and beautiful dressed queen of the werewolves appeared.

All the men immediately rose on their feet and bowed.

"Stop it, I told you it was not necessary!" Celia quickly tried to stop them. All these years her pack members had treated her normally when they were with other people, but they still bowed before her each time they saw her in private.

Now after the coronation, they would no longer not bow regardless of where they met. Of course, other than what was customarily required, they still treated Celia the same as before, which comforted her heart.

They had not even reproached her for hiding the truth from them. Even when she tried to apologize, they did not let her, and were only happy to have her in their midst again. They had truly regretted that day, when they separated from her, not being able to prevent her kidnapping.

"You may rise!" Celia sighed as she said the order, otherwise they would not raise their head.

"Sister, you look lovely!" Daniel voiced, before coming and hugging her.

Daniel had arrived at the Academy four years ago, and immediately sought his sister out, apologizing for the blunder from when his father took the phone from him. She forgave him then, knowing the effect their parents had on them as children, and did not take it to heart.

After that, she took care of her brother, and had maintained a close bond with him for all these years. Luckily, her brother had chosen to become a pack doctor, against his parents' wishes to follow in his father's steps, and his studies took longer than other courses, so he was still near her all this time.

Daniel released Celia, looking once more at his beautiful sister. Finding out she was the queen, after she had confided in him and even meeting the king, which as a parenthesis was the most nerve racking meeting ever, she really seemed like a perfect fit to be the Luna of all the packs. And seeing her dressed in the grey sparkling dress, adorning a tiara, she really looked the part of a proper queen.

"Alpha, you look beautiful!" All the guys also approved, admiring her appearance. Their alpha was always gorgeous, but now she took it up a notch.

"Thank you!" She shyly thanked the men who would be her escorts for today.

"Have you had your breakfast?" Celia asked concerned, the preparations took a little bit longer and the men had already waited for quite some time, not to mention they had come so early in the morning.

"Nope! I could eat a piglet!" Marcus, not at all abashed, admitted.

"That joke is so old!" Evan stated, rolling his eyes at Marcus.

"No it's not, my mate always laughs at it!" Marcus immediately defended.

"Of course she would. She is stuck with you, she has no choice but to!" Evan monotonely spoke, although Marcus was already starting to raise his voice upset.

"Alright, already. Settle down you two, this is her highness's most important day. Act like proper watchers at least for today!" Jake sighed, interrupting the two before they got out of hand.

Brianna was fidgeting around, having her mood soured by Rayan, who had specifically told her to wait outside until the beginning of the ceremony for the queen. The man truly could not stand being close to her, so because they had their chairs near one another, he had openly told her not to enter the hall until she had to.

She did not want to, but with the threat that he would block her credit card she had to agree, and reluctantly step outside.

She stomped her feet, pacing left and right, and even took a flower from time to time from a bush, before ripping it apart.

"Stop damaging the flowers. I heard her highness is very fond of them, do you want someone to punish us?" Diane asked her. The beta female was also annoyed, when her daughter forced her to accompany her out.

"Who is gonna know? Everyone's busy!" She said through gritted teeth, before ripping another flower.

"Brianna, someone might still see!" Diane warned her again, but did not expect for her daughter to listen to her. Her mother's role near her daughter these days was exactly the role she held for the previous Luna, Abigail. She had to cater to her daughter's wishes, as the latter acted with her without even the tiny bit of respect a mother should receive from her child. If her daughter told her to come she had to, if her daughter told her to leave she also had to.

Celia had never acted this way with her before, that child would always do everything for her mother, if she only opened her mouth. In a corner of her heart it truly saddened her, not having any contact with her oldest daughter. The way Brianna acted compared to Celia, was different as night and day.

She was not even interested anymore of the respect the position of being a mother of a watcher could bring. She only wished to see that child at least from time to time, to check up on her, but sadly she did not know where she was these days, and had no way of contacting her.

It truly was a situation, where a human only values and appreciates someone only after they had lost him or her.

"Would you stop nagging! Gosh that's all you ever do. I brought you with me because it would have been awkward to exit alone. Stop talking already and just stay to the side, like a good beta." Brianna spouted venomous words, she could not say anything to that man because he would take the money away, so she would at least vent on someone else.

Diane did not talk anymore, and really just stood to the side, wiping a small tear from the corner of her eye. Even the mood and curiosity to see the queen, had been dampened by her daughter.

Brianna removed another flower from its stem forcefully, crashing it to the ground, and was about to take another one from the bush when she sensed the most amazing scent. With her eyes widening, she quickly followed the direction of the smell, before locking eyes with a man even more handsome than Rayan.

The tall man had stepped outside for a break, when he sensed his mate, and quickly came in the direction of the smell.

Seeing her eyes, he slowly murmured "Mate', as she mirrored his response.

Her eyes glistened at the sight of the alpha ranked male, that exuded nothing but power.

With a small smile she wanted to approach the man who was still a few feet away, seeing him as her salvation. Even if Rayan did not love her, her mate would surely accept everything about her. She could finally have both love and power, and specially have a pampering man who would do everything for her sake. She truly had an alpha for a mate, just as the prophecy stated, if only she had waited for a while longer, but it was still alright. As long as she found him, it was still okay.

Smiling a bit at her, the man's mood was ruined completely when he saw another alpha male's mark on her neck. The mark could clearly be seen, because of the low cut dress, a choice for a dress that Brianna selected just for this particular reason, to flaunt her position as a Luna.

He had waited for his mate for his entire life, he had even kept away from his childhood friend whom he had deeply adored, because he felt it would not be fair to his future mate. But the latter had not done the same, she had accepted another male. It was clear to him what kind of a person the woman was at a glance.

"What is your name?" The man expressionless asked, when the woman approached him at a few inches away, trying to not appear disgusted to find the information he wanted.

"Brianna Blair, and you?" Brianna fanned her eyelashes shyly, as if forgetting the fact that her last name was no longer Blair.

"I, Justin Colt, alpha of the Blue Moon pack, reject you Brianna Blair as my mate and future Luna!" The alpha immediately said, already thinking of going straight back to his pack after the ceremony. His childhood friend's mate had ruthlessly rejected her some years ago for a woman much like the one in front of him, so now he could openly pursue her.

"I don't want to!" Brianna cried, feeling her heart broken into pieces as she fell to the ground. She gasped for air, trying to figure out why he had wanted to reject her, when he seemed happy at first.

Justin said, using his higher ranked werewolf voice. A command Brianna had no choice but to follow, even if she struggled to not open her mouth.

Finalizing the rejection, the man turned around to walk away.

"Why?" She desperately asked with a loud voice.

"Who would ever accept a mate marked by another?" The man stated, not even turning around as he walked away, unconcerned by the woman who was gasping for air, because of the rejection.

"It's not fair! It's not fair!" She said hitting the ground, as her mother came near her, trying to help her up. The woman had tried to advise Brianna in the past, to wait for her rightful mate, but her daughter had been so fixated on Rayan that she did not listen no matter what Diane said, and even convinced her there was no point to waiting.
