《Kidnapped By An Alpha Jerk》Chapter 33 Part 1

It was Halloween night and the street outside was alive. I was in my nightdress and settling down to watch an old horror movie by myself - as usual my roommates were out.
The credits were still rolling the beginning when there was a soft knock on the door. It was strange to get trick or treaters on this floor of the apartment, so I frowned and opened the door with a false smile. Instead of little kids, it was Emma, Carlos, Beau, Diego, Daniel, Aiden, Nina and Matt. So practically everyone I knew.
All the boys had Halloween costumes on. Aiden was dressed as a werewolf (oh, the irony.) Daniel as a overly-sexualised Joker, Beau was Buzz Light year (he didn't look scary, just adorable,) Carlos was a zombie and Diego had devil horns. Matt wore his usual varsity jacket with a few stains of blood on his face.
"Hey April," Emma said casually, pushing past me into the room.
"What's going on?" I moved aside to let people past me.
"We're going to a Halloween party. And you're coming with us."
"No I'm not - I'm staying home and watching a movie. This is my annual Halloween tradition," I jumped back onto the sofa.
"Hey April, you have the rest of your life to grow old, woman. Live a little," Daniel hollered, giving a little party cheer.
Ouch. "Uh-uh. I don't want to go to a Halloween party. I don't even have a costume!" I could hear Diego and Beau at my fridge - if they finished all of my food. I would kill them, I decided.
"Have you ever been to a Halloween party before?" Aiden asked, making my freeze. I bit my lip and shook my head no at him, stomach knotting in embarrassment.
He burst out laughing and made little noises of sympathy making anger course through my veins. "Shut up, Aiden. I'm not a loser, okay? I just - I just hate parties."
"Right, well the only way you can build confidence is by stepping out of your comfort zone Ap. I bought you a range of costumes to pick from," Nina called from behind them. I groaned inwardly. "Hey, you know I love you, that's why I'm doing this."
"Nina, you said that you wouldn't force me to go to parties anymore," I accused, glaring at her. "Remember that deal," I said obviously, raising my eyebrows at Matt.
"I'm not the one forcing you, Emma is."
Emma let out a little shriek. "So you're coming?" I smiled at her slightly and finally succumbed. The last party I went to was a disaster. We entered my room and they slammed the door shut, leaving the boys out there doing god knows what.
"Okay, so here are your options," Nina spoke seriously, throwing several outfits on the bed, my mouth dropping lower and lower at each one of them.
"What the hell are these?" I said in disbelief to Nina.
"What's wrong with them?"
"These outfits aren't me - you know I hate stuff like this." I breathed, biting my tongue when I saw just how short one Wonder woman costume was.
"I don't think they're that bad - they'd suit you April," Emma said, stepping out of the bathroom as she adjusted her outfit. She was dressed as a zombie woman, her entire face painted a pallid white, matching her monotone outfit.

I sighed and dropped my head into my hands. "I don't want to wear any of these." I heard footsteps coming towards me and I peeked out of my hands, seeing Emma's face in front of me.
"Let's assess these options properly first, okay?" I nodded in agreement and flopped down on my bed.
I scrunched up my nose as Emma held up an outfit and my mind drifted back to Kayla - my other best friend who currently hated my guts. I paused for a moment whilst Emma was busy pairing up outfits and stood up, tip-toeing over to the bathroom door.
"Nina... Have you - have you heard from Kayla lately?" I asked quietly, averting my gaze from her.
"No. I don't know what's up with her lately. She's been a total bitch - always so on and off lately, it's scaring me." I nodded in agreement, thinking back to her behaviour at the ball. "If she wants to act like that then fine - she'll come back once she's over her mood." Nina's voice turned cold, but I knew her better than that. The way her fingers trembled gave away her emotion - she was torn up inside from Kayla's betrayal.
I squeezed her shoulder, giving her a sympathetic look before turning back to Emma. "Have you picked an outfit for me?"
"Why are you still worrying about Kayla?"
I groaned - of course Emma had heard. "It's not like that - despite what she's done, she's still our friend. She's just going through a rough time, that's all," I said determinedly with a wave of my hand to signal that that conversation was finished. Emma gave me a small, indignant noise and went back to choosing an outfit for me. I turned away from her and assessed a family photo I kept on my desk.
I smiled as I remembered how we'd taken the photo. We'd put it on a timer and my sister had to run to get in the photo in time and had tripped and fell on her face. It was hilarious at the time, which is why we were all in fits of laughter. I cast my eyes down and straightened the picture.
"Is that your family?" A voice said near my ear.
I jumped, my eyes widening as I saw who it was. I hadn't realized that Emma had opened the door and was currently discussing my outfit options with Beau and Daniel - oh, how embarrassing. Aiden's wolf-like fur mask tickled me as he leaned down over me, his chin resting in the crook of my shoulder.
I regained my senses quickly, struggling to form a simply sentence. "Um... yeah."
He grimaced and I thought I saw a flash of sympathy in his eyes but he quickly turned away, assessing my room.
"Nice room. It's - interesting." I stepped besides him and followed his eyes towards my wall. It was covered with an unhealthy amount embarrassing photos of my family, friends, posters, little mementos.
Then, he walked over to my bed, picking up part of the pirate outfit that was simply a mini skirt. My stomach clenched in embarrassment and I rushed over, whipping it out of his hands and throwing it over my shoulder.
"Bad outfit idea," I said quickly.

He chuckled and wolf-whistled at another outfit, his eyebrows raised. I grimaced and swept the outfits of my bed so that they were left in a pile on my floor. My bedroom door was open and people were milling in and out of the room now.
"I hate all these outfits," I grimaced.
He nodded slowly in agreement and his eyes slowly traveled over the bed until it reached a particular flapper-girl outfit. He hesitated before picking it up and thrusting it into my hands. As soon as our hands collided, a spark shot up them and my tummy erupted in butterflies when I realized how close we were.
"This one's better." He said releasing the outfit and stepping back, smirking at me. "You don't need all of that short stuff. You look cute in your PJ's anyway." He smiled slightly at me and my heart must have melted right there and then when I realized what he had just said. He said I looked cute. The first time any boy had called me cute. And god, does it feel amazing when it comes out of Aiden Knight's mouth. But then, his image of innocence was ruined when he started waggling his eyebrows suggestively at me as he bent to pick up part of the pirate outfit, lying discarded on the floor.
I scowled at him and threw a Wonder woman cape at him - he ducked quickly, letting it hit Beau who turned around in confusion. He got back up, grinning at me before turning around and joining Diego and Nina who were now arguing about which outfit was 'hotter.'
Once I was all done, Emma insisted on doing my hair, whilst Nina had an argument with me about which heels to wear and why converses were not allowed to be worn with the outfit. I fought for my converses and when she wasn't looking, I quickly slipped them on and laced them to the top so she couldn't pull them off me forcefully. My hair was pinned to the side, leaving a slight curl hanging loosely at the side of my face. The outfit itself was beautiful and modest and glamorous.
I thanked them and hurried out after them, avoiding everyone's eyes. Diego gave me a hug, which ended up being awkward so he ruffled my hair instead. Nina ended up having an argument with him because she didn't want my hair messed up and I had to admit, it was kind of cute how playful they were together.
"You look okay I guess, Cruella," A voice whispered in my ears, making goose bumps rise on my neck where Aiden's minty scent was left lingering upon my skin. I was used to him coming up behind me as suddenly and silently as a wolf (oh the irony,) but the impact he left on me was something I wasn't sure I would ever get used to.
I turned my head slightly, assessing his face paint on one side of his face.
"Gee thanks," I replied sarcastically. I took a small step forward and turned to face him, clearing my throat in embarrassment. His cheekbones were even more defined with the face paint and he raised a dark eyebrow at me, his eyes bleeding into grey-green now.
"Are you staring at me Cruella?" His his smirk became wider and wider by the minute.
"No!"
"Yes you were!"
I pursed my lips and glared at him. "Stop being so big-headed."
"Then stop staring at my pretty face!"
"Shut up!" He grinned wickedly, making little kissy noises as he advanced towards me. I pretended to gag and pushed him away from me which resulted in him shutting up and my face burning with embarrassment. By now everyone was getting ready to leave and Aiden being the sarcastic little sod he is, pushed past me so he could exit the door first.
So much for being a gentlemen you jerk.
I studied April and Aiden from the doorway, smiling when I saw Aiden's face light up in the rare occasion that he smiled. He'd held up a beautiful, flapper outfit to April and she smiled turning away from him slightly. I''d seen Aiden smile more times that ever in the past few weeks. I could see them falling for each other, as much as they'd hate to admit it.
They didn't fall in love like normal werewolves - it's a human and werewolf , perhaps that's why they don't feel the mutual pull as strongly as two werewolves. They're falling in love like humans. My eyes glazed over dreamily as I remembered the time me and Carlos were officially made mates - those were the happiest moments of my life. Two strong hands wrapped around my waist and I shut my eyes, smiling, knowing full well who it was.
"You look hot in that outfit," Carlos mumbled into my ear.
"Thanks, you don't look so bad yourself," I replied, still gazing at Aiden and April. "They look so right together, don't they?"
"Yeah they do. I would have never thought Aiden would find his mate. Not after his mum," Carlos whispered. I ended up voicing my thoughts to him quietly and Aiden must have been really concentrated talking to April because otherwise, he would have heard us from a mile away.
I smoothed down my outfit and rubbed my chin, careful not to smudge any of my face paint. April was standing by herself, smiling at Nina and Diego in thought and she hadn't even seen or heard Aiden coming up behind her. He leaned down so he was near her neck and whispered something in her ear, smirking the whole time. But this wasn't his cruel smirk... no, I'd seen his cruel smirk all the time... this time he was actually smiling. She smiled back, not realizing the closeness between them. They both looked so different and yet so perfect together.
They shouldn't have seemed right.
But they did.
They ended up bickering like an old couple and even when Aiden pushed past April to get out of the door first, I could still see the playfulness lingering in their eyes and on their lips, like the ghost of a smile. I hadn't even seen Aiden giving another girl a single glance and that was very rare considering his womanizing history. I knew that they both wouldn't admit it, never in a million years. But I think that they were falling hopelessly in love...
