《The Mafia Man's Girl》Chapter 21: Unknown

Arya's POV -

2 days have passed since I've been at Rome's house, and I'm beginning to feel better.

Rome has barely left my side, and James has been around most of the time as well.

James has really grown on me. He's been constantly trying to cheer me up and cracking jokes.

But what makes me truly laugh is the look of annoyance that's always on Rome's face when he says something.

James will say something that's on his mind which causes Rome to say something back to him in Italian which then causes James to complain to me saying he's 'so mean.'

They've been doing as much as they can to distract me from the main issue. My parents.

What was I going to do? Was I supposed to go back and see if they're there? What will mama do?

I couldn't really live anywhere else.

At least that's what I thought.

"You're not going back there." Rome says as he helps me out of the hospital bed.

I was finally able to get up and moving according to Wyatt. He had said my cuts have healed enough.

"I need to Rome," I sigh. "Where am I supposed to stay?"

"You're staying here, that's where." He replies making my eyes bulge.

"Stay...here?" I repeat slowly, disbelief clear in my tone.

"Do you really think I'll let you go back there after...what happened?" The man says, trying to be careful with his words.

I shift my feet on the floor, "What about my stuff? My clothes? Everything is at my house."

"I'll send someone over to get it."

My heart squeezes painfully. I knew it was the right thing to do for now. To distance myself just a little bit even though it hurt.

For some reason even though I know what mama did was wrong, I didn't want it to end this way.

Eventually I would see her again.

"Okay." I finally agree.

"Good, come on I'll show you your room."

Rome guides me up the stairs and towards his room from before.

There's a door that's next to his.

"This will be yours. It's right next to mine incase you need anything at night."

I nod and walk in when he opens it for me.

I smile as I look around the room. It's huge, almost as big as Rome's.

The only difference is the light colored walls and white furniture.

"This is amazing, thank you!" I gush and he chuckles.

"James' room is down the hall, and Elijah's is across from him." He says making me pause.

I haven't seen Elijah since two days ago.

I wonder where he's been since he lives here as well.

I sigh as I sit on the white bed with a super fuzzy blanket on it. I can't help myself as I run my hands over it.

"I've missed two days of school." I say, looking up at Rome as he comes to sit beside me.

"It's not too many days, I'm sure you can make it up. Besides you had said you finished that essay, right?" I can literally hear the teasing in his tone, making my eyes narrow slightly at him.

He looks at me as a smirk begins to form on his lips, and I know exactly what he's thinking.

"You're not reading it!" I yell making him laugh and shake his head.

"I'll get my hands on it one day."

UNKNOWN POV -

Everything is slowly setting into place.

We've been watching them for a while, and everyday I become restless.

Well, they've been watching them. I've been watching her.

I'm just the secret little spy.

I pick up my phone and dial the number.

It rings twice before they pick up.

"Новости?"

(News?)

"Она поссорилась с родителями." I say to the receiver.

(She got in a fight with her parents.)

He hums as he hears my information.

"Я думаю, сейчас лучшее время." I continue, "Я предполагаю, что какое-то время она не вернется к ним."

(I think It's the best time now.) (She won't be going back to see them for a while I assume.)

"Я полагаю, ты прав. Кому я должен сказать боссу, что мы должны идти первым?"

(I suppose you're right. Who should I tell the boss we should go for first?)

I pause for a few moments, staring at the clock on the wall.

It ticks slowly with every passing second.

Tick.

Tick..

Tick...

"Ее отец."

(Her father.)

Arya's POV -

I wake up Wednesday morning to the sound of my 7:00am alarm.

The sun shines down on me through the window, which is practically blinding my eyes.

Yawning, I sit up and stretch my arms before tapping on my phone to turn off the loud noise.

My eyes roam around the room at the boxes scattered around.

Rome had gone with some of his friends to get my stuff yesterday, and they claimed my parents weren't home at the time.

I didn't really mind that he and his friends went through my things, I didn't have that much.

The only thing that made a feeling of horror rush through me was the thought of Rome seeing my underwear and bras...

I may be sounding like a true child here but it just made me embarrassed!

Shaking my head to get rid of that thought, I focused on today.

I didn't want to go to school, but I had already missed two days. I couldn't miss anymore right now.

So I reluctantly get up and drag myself over to the mirror to look over myself.

Nothing surprises me when I see the lions mane I call hair on top of my head.

My brown curls were flying everywhere.

I cringe slightly at the sight of my red, teary stained cheeks.

I may have had a small crying session under the covers last night.

It was really late at night, maybe 12, so I'm certain no one knew about it.

I went to the white drawers in my 'new' room and picked out an easy outfit.

I didn't feel like trying today.

Changing quickly, I went to the bathroom Rome had shown me.

Apparently each of the boys had their own bathroom, so I'd be sharing with Rome.

How many rooms and bathrooms are in this house?

Now that I think about it, their home is literally a mansion.

Who needs a mansion for 3 guys?

I finish getting ready, ending with throwing my hair into a ponytail.

I've been doing that a lot more recently, maybe I should cut my hair a bit shorter.

I grab my backpack from on the floor and make my way out of the room. As I head for the stairs, I hear the closing of another door, followed by footsteps.

I turn, and my eyebrows raise in surprise at the sight of Elijah behind me.

He stares at me as I stare up at him.

However, I don't realize that his eyes trail over my cheeks.

Why was he looking there? I had made sure any sign of me crying had disappeared.

His eyes slowly make their way back up to mine, before they narrow slightly.

"Why were you crying last night?" He finally asks and I almost pass out.

"What?" Is all I can say in response.

He scoffs, "Don't think you're smart. I know you were balling your eyes out at around midnight."

"I-I wasn't." I mumble, finding the floor very very interesting as I look down at the tiles.

"Sure you weren't." I can hear the sarcasm in his voice.

I'm about to assure him I had not been crying, but he simply walks by me, down the stairs and then he's out of view.

My mouth parts slightly as I watch him and then I'm grumbling under my breath as I make my way down as well.

How did he even hear me? Didn't Rome say he was way down the hall?

And that hallway is pretty long.

Finally making it downstairs and to the kitchen, I find all 3 men there.

James was rambling to Rome about something as the pretty eyed man sat at the counter with a cup of coffee, a bored look on his face.

Elijah was looking through the fridge, most likely for something to eat.

With slight nerves emerging from my stomach, I made my way straight for Rome.

It's like he heard me coming because his head turned to me and his eyes lit up.

"Shut up." I heard from Rome as he glared at his friend. I couldn't help but laugh.

"Arya! Do you see how rude he is!" James complains, "I know I've told you so many times, but just look! Be on my side!" He continues but I'm only focused on Rome as he stares at me with a small smile on his face.

Right as I reach the spot he's sitting on, I squeal as he picks me up, placing me on his lap.

My back leans against his chest as his arms wrap around my waist, and I feel my face heating up.

"Good morning, how did you sleep?" His chest rumbles from behind me, and I can't help but glance nervously at Elijah standing near the fridge.

As if he feels my gaze on him, he turns towards me and raises a brow, now holding his own cup of coffee.

I quickly dart my eyes away and stare at the table, "I slept okay..." I reply quietly and he hums.

"Are you hungry? I'll make you something."

I shake my head, "Not really."

"Well you're going to eat something anyways, so pick."

I groan and lean my head back against his chest, "Why did you ask me then!" I exclaim and he chuckles then presses a kiss on my forehead.

"Do you have some cereal or something?" I question and he nods before looking up at James expectantly.

The blonde man looks at Rome, and then at me. "You can get it yourself princess." He smirks, but not even two seconds pass before his smirk falls and he's quickly turning around and racing towards the cabinets.

My eyes snap up to Rome who only stares down at me with an innocent look on his face.

"What did you do?" I say making him shrug and hold me tighter.

I finish the bowl of cereal quickly and soon I'm off Rome's lap, ready to go to school.

I wait for Rome by the front door since he had to grab his keys, and when I see him walking towards me, I'm confused when he has a bag in hand.

"What's that?" I question when he stops in front of me.

"Turn around," He says with a soft look in his eye.

I do so with my brows furrowed slightly, and I hear the unzipping of my backpack before the crumbling of the bag as It's placed inside.

"What-"

"I made you something for lunch." Is all he says while he zips my bag back up and spins me back around to face him.

I can only stare, stare, and stare some more.

There was no way he was real.

"Thank you." Is all that manages to come out of my mouth before he's nodding and opening the door.

As Rome drives me to school, I think about what's happened recently.

Maybe things would eventually be okay.

Maybe I could see mama again at some point.

Maybe I could see papa again at some point.

Maybe the 3 of us would all be on good terms again.

I'm sure papa is at work right now and mama is back at the house cleaning.

But that was far from what was currently happening at my home.
