《The Mafia Man's Girl》Chapter 6: Rome

Arya's POV -
I stared for a few moments at the man in front of me. And then a huge, wide smile appeared on my face.
Rome was standing right in front of me, a cold expression on his face as he stared down at Oliver.
Oliver was about 5'11, so Rome towered over him by inches.
Oliver swallowed before turning back to me, "You know this guy?" He asked with wide eyes.
I was confused, but nodded. "Yeah, we met a week ago. Why?" I tilted my head slightly, and before Oliver could answer, Rome whispered something into his ear, making him pale and turn the other way, then rush back to the registers.
My brows furrowed in confusion as Rome sat in the booth across from me. "I'm sorry I took so long darling, I had some business to take care of."
I decided to drop the whole Oliver thing for now, "It's okay." I replied softly, admiring his pretty features. Rome was wearing a black suit jacket with black slacks, the same rings on his fingers, glistening in the light.
His black hair was slicked back, but a few pieces were messy and flopping around, making me giggle. He raised a brow at the act.
"Nothing!" I blurted, making his other brow raised, and then he smirked and shook his head.
He leaned forward slightly, strong arms on display. "How are you sweetheart? I haven't seen you in almost a week." My cheeks turned pink at his name for me, and I knew he could tell.
"I-I'm okay. I mostly focused on school the whole time. I didn't really do anything."
He hummed and tilted his head, "Nothing? A whole week and you only did school?"
"That's what I mostly focus on." I mumble, biting into my cookie and humming at the yummy taste. I then realized he had nothing in front of him. No drink or food, how rude of me!
"Oh! Do you want a drink or taste of my cookie? I just realized you don't have anything! That's really rude of me. Mama tells me that I need to pay more attention-" I'm caught off, my breath caught in my throat as Rome reaches his hand across the table and places it over mine.
I stare in awe into his eyes, they rest softly looking at me. And then a slow smile spreads on his lips. "It's okay. I didn't want anything."
I glance down at our hands that are touching, and I feel the cool metal of his rings making me swoon.
I know my face is bright red, and I can feel my neck heating up, and It's not from the warmth of the café.
"O-Okay, just...just let me know." I murmured, picking up my drink again and sipping it.
"What have you been doing for the week?" I asked, looking back up at him to see him staring at me with those pretty green eyes.

"Nothing really, technically the same as you. You were working on school related assignments, I was working on business related assignments."
I giggled as a thought came in mind, "Did you know the other day I tried searching you up?" I asked to which he tensed, his body going rigid. I saw his hands clench into fists by his side.
My eyes caught the act and I found myself frowning slightly. Did he not want me to search him up?
He cleared his throat, "And what did you find, hm?" He responded, staring intensely at me.
"Actually, I found nothing," I giggled again, "Only pictures of actual Rome, and that's when I realized you have the same name as a place!"
I saw his body visibly relax, his hands unclenching and flexing.
"Yes, I do have the same name as it, have you ever been to Rome?"
"No, but I've actually always thought about going! To Italy, it would be so fun!"
He looked at me for a few moments before muttering, "Immagino che un giorno dovrò portarti con te."
(I guess I'll have to take you some day.)
"Hm?" I hummed, finishing the last bite of my cookie. He shook his head, "Nothing, what are you doing for the rest of tonight?"
I took out my phone and glanced at the time. It's around 3:30, and it is a Friday. "Nothing, I didn't get any new assignments, only an English essay, but I have a few months to work on it."
"Good then, come on." He got up from the booth as I watch in slight shock. "T-To where?" He smiled down at me and held out a hand like last time.
"It's a surprise." He said and I gently took his hand. His hand was huge as it covered mine, helping me up.
I went to grab my backpack next to me but he quickly snatched it and held it. He tilted his head toward the door and starting walking as I watched, startled. He didn't need to carry it for me!
I quickly jogged and caught up to him at the front door as he opened it and let me out first. "You...don't need to hold it. I can carry it!" I said, my head craning to look up at him.
He looked down at me, and with the bright sun his eyes were a bright green, it was the most beautiful sight. They were like an enchanted forest, full of so many secrets, and I could only stare.
"Don't worry it about it darling, I'm not going to make you carry it."
I bit my lip as we started walking towards his car, but I didn't see any sign of the black Ferrari, only a dark red one.
"Where's your car?" I questioned, and he gestured towards the red one. My eyes widened.
"You have another!" I exclaimed making him chuckle.

"Yes, I have multiple cars, today I decided on the red."
He opened the door for me and I got in. He closed it and placed my backpack in the trunk before going to the drivers side.
This Ferrari looked the same on the inside. Some of the controls were a dark red, the seats were still leather, and the radio was the same.
"Will you tell me where we're going now?" I asked with a sweet smile, to which he smirked at.
"Nope, you're going to have to wait and see."
"Is it a food place?" I quickly asked making him chuckle and turn to me, "Didn't I just say you'll need to wait. It's a surprise baby."
"Baby" I could have fainted right then and there. My whole body shot through with tingles, making me shudder.
"Cold?" He questioned, knowing I wasn't and giving me a knowing smile.
"U-Um no!" I squeaked and covered my face with my hands. I heard a soft chuckle come from him before I felt his big hands separating mine from my face.
He held my hands gently in his own, "Don't hide from me Arya, It's okay." He said, tucking some hair behind my ear, only revealing my bright red cheeks.
A few moments of silence passed before he cleared his throat and moved his hands from mine. I instantly missed his touch.
He gripped onto the steeling wheel tightly before shaking his head and muttering something before starting the car.
I swallowed thickly as he began to drive to our destination.
I went to turn up the radio to help the silence, and he didn't say a word.
I hummed to myself as the beat of the song came on, and we continued to drive in mild silence.
Soon I saw as we pulled up towards a park.
"A park?" I questioned, turning to him. He looked at me as he parked the car. "There's a hidden area here, come on." He got up and then came to open my door.
I got out and he lead me towards the forest area in the back.
"There's a secret area to this park?" I questioned with big eyes. I had been to this one a million times! Surely I'd notice.
He hummed, "Yes, It's very well hidden, so not too many people know about it."
As he lead me through some trees and bushes, I saw a small pathway to our right. "Is that it?" I asked and he replied with a 'yes'.
We followed the path and there were a lot of vines and rocks covering it. From looking from afar, you wouldn't think this is a path that leads anywhere.
We continued to walk, Rome had stayed behind me and let me go in front of him with a hand on the small of my back.
I'm not sure why he wanted me to go in front, but it didn't bother me so I didn't question it.
After about 5 minutes, I heard the distant sound of water falling, and a...stream?
Soon we came to an opening and my eyes widened at the sight in front of me! A giant waterfall stood high, pouring down into a river that flowed to our left.
"Wow!" I yelled with a big smile, running towards the edge of the water.
"Careful!" I heard behind me making me slow my steps.
I looked at the waterfall in joy, my eyes sparkling as I turned to Rome who was a few feet behind me.
"This is amazing! How did you find this place?" I jumped excitedly and wiggled, making him laugh.
"I found it a few years ago, it was always a place I'd come to calm down or to just relax, It is quite peaceful, yes?"
I smiled and nodded and looked back to the waterfall. It was such a pretty blue along with the river. I bit my lip and grabbed a flat rock, skipping it across the water, watching it skip 3 times before plopping.
I giggled and grabbed another, only to see the pretty man stand beside me with his own rock. He skipped it, and it went 6 times before plopping into the water as well.
"Not fair!" I pouted, "Why did yours skip so much better!"
He smirked down at me, "Maybe I'm just that good." He shrugged, making my jaw drop.
"Yeah right! Ready?" I licked my lips and turned back to the water, aiming my rock and skipping it.
I smiled wide as it skipped 1...2...3...it plopped.
I stared in disbelief as I saw Rome laughing. Not a small chuckle, but a full laugh. His laugh was melodic, I could listen to it all day. I saw his one dimple showing on his cheek, and I stared in amazement. "Not funny!" I yelled and he skipped his rock, making it go 7 times this time!
"W-What...how?" I questioned and he chuckled before grabbing another and placing it in my hand. He stood behind me and grabbed my elbows then arms, positioning them correctly.
"Try like this." He said quietly, fixing my arms once more before moving them. I concentrated deeply and took a deep breath before throwing the rock again, making it skip 5 times!
"Yes!" I said, turning to him with a big smile, seeing him looking down at me.
I couldn't help it. I had to do it. I wrapped my arms around his torso, squeezing hard and saw his body tense.
"Thank you for bringing me here, this is so cool." I mumbled against his chest but got no response. I was about to pull away, but his strong arms wrapped around me, caging me in. He held me tightly and I squeezed him even tighter.
A few more moments of silence went by, only the noises of the waterfall and stream were heard before he replied softly, "You're welcome sweetheart."
