《The Melancholy Of Yamamoto Yuuto》Chapter 25-Laughter And Smiles

She looked puzzled
“When did I save you?”
“Back then, if I had jumped on another girl, she would have never patiently listened to me like you did. She would have immediately called the police on me. But your different“
She still looked like she didn't get what I was saying
”You carefully listened to my story instead of making your own decisions and even forgave me. Because of that I can live a normal life instead of being labelled as a molester. That's how you saved me from living a cruel life”
She burrowed her eyebrows and didn't accept what I said
“No I think anyone would have done the same thing. You were on the ground pleading it was a mistake like your life depended on it. If they saw how desperate you were they would have given you a chance”
“No, that’s where your wrong”
“Huh?”
“Let’s say a guy jumped on you like I did. But you knew the guy was a criminal. Would you give him a chance to explain why he did it?”
She replied immediately
“Of course not. If the guy was already a criminal he would have jumped on me with bad intentions. I would never listen too or forgive a guy like him”
“But you did forgive a criminal, you forgave me”
She backed off and glared at me with despise
“You’re actually a molester!? Get off me! Get of me you liar!”
She started pushing and kicking me really hard
“Ow!-Ow!-Ow! Stop! I'm not a molester!”
She stopped and looked at me with a confused expression
“Then why did you say you were one? Because of that I got scared and kicked you a lot. I just injured you more than before”
“No that's my fault. I should've given you better context. I'm not actually a criminal but I do look like one right. If another girl saw me, she would have definitely thought I was a bad guy just by looking alone. She would've had her mind set that I was a criminal and wouldn't have forgiven me“

It looked like she was starting to understand what I'm saying
”But you didn't judge me based on my looks and gave me an opportunity to prove myself. That's how you're different from others and saved me from a crisis. If you were the same, my life would have been turned upside down by now. So I really want to thank you for giving me a chance back then”
She blushed a little and turned away but looked at me again after regaining her composure
“You do have really scary eyes and the piercings and blonde hair amplify your mean look. So honestly you do scare me a bit…“
So unlike Hina-san she knows I look pretty scary. Then why did she not run away?
Maybe she's also a really nice person who doesn't judge a person by looks or she's like Kondo Sensei and can see a person character by just looking at them
”…but you’re definitely not a bad guy. I know that for sure”
Hmm? How is she so confident about that? From the way she's telling me it sounds like she has concrete proof I'm not a actually a scary guy
Don't tell me she also has a complicated relationship with me like Kisaragi-san
No! Just please don't tell me that's the actual reason! I can't handle anymore mystery, the suspense will kill me
“How do you know I'm not a bad guy?”
“Well that's because you have a-”
Before completing the sentence she suddenly stopped and covered her mouth to stop speaking
“I have what?”
“Nothing! Just forget what I said! I just knew and that's all. There's nothing else”
She's hiding something but whatever. I'm just happy she knows that I'm not really scary as I look
Suddenly a thought popped up in my head and chuckled to myself
She looked at me with one of her eyebrows raised
“What's so funny?”
”No it's just that I summarised everything that happened tonight and it ended up in a funny way”

She looked curious about what I was thinking
“What do you mean? Tell me”
“Well first I thought you were a criminal but you weren't. Then you thought I was a criminal which I wasn't. After that you saved my social life from being destroyed and then I saved you from being hit by a truck. It's going in a loop isn't it?”
I guess she wouldn't find that funny. It's just another one of my lame-
“Phhfft-..”
Hmm?
“Hahahaha!”
She started laughing. Her eyes were closed and she was moving her legs and arms as she laughed. I could feel her heartbeat increase as she laughed louder
She's laughing?! That aggressive looking girl, who looked like she wanted my life, was laughing while having such a cute expression on her. I could've never imagined a situation like this happening
While she was still laughing she said
“Hahaha! It really is going in a loop. Now that whole life or death incident looks like a joke. I can't even take it seriously anymore. You just made-….Hmm? Why are you looking at me like that? Did I say anything strange?”
She saw me looking at her in astonishment
“You just laughed right now”
“Is it wrong for me to laugh?”
“No it's just that I didn't expect that from you. You've only shown a serious or angry face all day and I thought those were the only two expressions you could show. You’re even smiling now”
“Of course I can laugh and smile. I'm also a normal human being. There's no need to get that surprised over it”
She was talking in a more friendly and approachable manner now. I guess she's finally opened up to me. Maybe I'll tease her a little to get a fun mood going
“I guess so. But I would like to see your smiling face more since you look way cuter smiling”
“Cu-Cu-Cute! Baka!” (baka=Idiot in Japanese)
She blushed and turned her head the other side to hide her embarrassment
Cu-Cu-Cute!!!!
What was that reaction!! That was so damn cute! I thought she would be unfazed like Kisaragi-san but she shows a cute reaction like that. Fucking precious! Her cuteness may rival Hina-san
While still looking the other way she said
“Listen…”
Her tone sounded like she was going to say something serious
“…You said that you care about me and I'll believe that. But you never told me the reason why. I'm asking you now and answer truthfully…”
She turned towards me again and looked a little red on the cheeks. She then asked in a soft voice
“…Why do you care about me?”
She looked at me as if she wanted me to say a specific answer in her mind and nothing else
I thought about it for a bit. At first I just wanted to relieve her from her loneliness and show her that other people can care about her so I said the starting part on a whim. But after watching her this whole time and seeing how she's suffering the same way I did, I changed my mind
In the past I only wanted one thing and never managed to attain by myself. But one day ‘he’ came into my life and gave me what I was looking for. It changed my life for the better
This girl is just like me, she's waiting for someone to say those words ‘he’ told me back then. Now it's my turn to say them to this girl and change her life like ’he’ changed mine
And so I said while smiling at her
“It's because I want to be your friend”

The only Objective he is given is to Discover Magic as he learns to survive and live in this new world, doing the best he can to not die, or even worse. *** Hi All! This is my story, it has been brewing in my mind in various forms for years. It will be rough, this is the first story I have written in a long time, so please help me make it as great as it can be! It is a High Fantasy adventure/Isekai LitRpg, it will have action and adventure, levels and dungeons, Elves, Dwarves and Gods. It is not a Virtual Reality story, though it will touch on some topics of artificial intelligence. The core focus of the story is going to be the discovery and deep delve in the magic system and fantastical elements of the world. Mana is used so often in LitRPG's but how often is it explained what mana is, magic is used in fantasy, but how often do you understand what it feels like. Magical races like Elves, Dwarves etc. often exist in stories, but why do they exist? and what truly makes them different from Humans and from each other? What is a God and where did they come from? These are the sort of topics that I want to really dive into in this series, all through the lens of a progression focused LitRPG. Thanks for reading!
