《The Melancholy Of Yamamoto Yuuto》Chapter 10-Savior And Reconciliation

“Then you should also know that when it happened to me, not even a single student in my class stepped forward to help me”
“Yeah I heard that damn class of your's just watched you suffer”
“At that time my desk was covered in horrible graffiti telling me to die and I knew that everyone watched the bullies do it and didn't say anything to stop it. I had already given up on trusting and depending on others long ago and knew that no one cared about other people's problems”
What happened to her to have that type of mindset?
”At that time although I put a brave front, I was actually exhausted from all the bullying. After watching people just stand there allowing this cruel act to happen I started to think that all humans were cold and cruel creatures like I had learned from experience in the past and started to complete give up on humanity thinking there will never be change“
Looks like she had a horrible experience with people in the past just like I did. I could relate to what she was saying in many ways. It was like we were peas of the same pod
”But just when that was going to happen, a girl who I've never met before, had heard I was being bullied, ran from the next class over in a hurry, pushed through the crowd around me and stood in front of me panting and told ‘Kisaragi-san, are you okay? Please sit down over there. I'll clean this up for you’. She then took out her own handkerchief and started wiping the mess of my desk. At that time she looked like an angel that came from heaven to rescue me“
She really is a good girl. She ran over from a different class to help someone who wasn't even her friend and used her own handkerchief to clean the mess up knowing it would become messy. A true angel indeed. I would love to meet her one day
“After cleaning my desk she looked at me and told ‘Kisaragi-san if you ever need any help just call me. My name is Ishikawa Hina from the next class over. Don't try to handle the burden all by yourself’”

That girl is Hina-san!!! But she didn't tell me anything like that. But it makes sense she is the only one capable of doing just kind acts
”Her words and actions that day gave me confidence to move forward and helped me regain a little hope towards humanity. Ever since then I've been her fan and learned a lot more about her, which only increased her appeal to me even more. So I know that she isn't quick to judge others and will understand if you explain the situation to her”
“But she didn't tell me about her helping you”
“As expected, she doesn't show off to others and I already knew that you two were friends, since I saw you talking near the pathway cheerfully through the cameras”
Just how many cameras does she have?
“Then why did you even involve her in the first place?”
She thought for a bit and said
“Didn't I say it was a prank?”
“That's a lie. I know you wouldn't do that in front of the only girl you ever accepted and admired since there's a possibility that it would make it awkward between you two and she could start avoiding you because of that”
“No I'm telling you it was because of a pra-”
“And the real reason is?”
She looked hesitant to but finally said
“It's because I wanted to get to know her”
“Huh? ”
“Ever since the bullying incident I wanted to talk to her and say Thank You for before but never got the chance. As time went by it became harder to approach her and I thought I could never convey my gratitude towards her. But the moment I found out you were on friendly terms with her, I decided I was going to use you as an intermediate for me to get closer to her”
“So you wanted me to help you talk to her”
”Yeah that's what I planned. But when she suddenly showed up here I thought of a plan which would allow me to talk to her and if possible become friends with her“

“And that plan is?”
”I thought I could create a misunderstanding will all three of us. Then I could use the opportunity of resolving the misunderstanding and personally approach her and slowly get closer to her”
“Basically you wanted to use the awkwardness of that situation to become her friend”
“In a nutshell yeah”
“Leaving last year aside since, she was in another class. Why can't you just go to her and talk like a normal person would, she's only four seats away from your seat. I'm pretty sure Hina-san would've loved to be your friend. You didn't have use all these elaborate schemes to get closer to her. Wait don't tell me it was because your pride was too high for you to approach her directly”
“What are you talking about, that's only for you”
Did she just diss me now?
“In fact it's quite the opposite for her. My status is too low to approach that divine being”
Say what?
“In my eyes she's a goddess of purity and kindness in a world full of filth. I'm pretty sure her purity would be tainted if I went near to her. Do you really think a common human like me can approach a goddess? I even struggle to just look at her since she shines so brightly”
“I get what you mean. Just standing next to her feels like all the sins I've done have been forgiven. She's just like a saint giving blessing go everyone”
“I know right! She's the epitome of kindness. The other day I saw her picking up garbage in the courtyard and throwing it in the dustbin”
“Yeah today she showed me around the school and even chased me to help me out”
“And yesterday she shared her lunch with….”
We then spent a good half hour talking about how kind, cute, pure and adorable Hina-san is. The unpleasant mood we had before was washed away by talking about Hina-san's kind acts. If there were more people like her, I'm pretty damn sure we could stop all the wars and famine that's happening all around the world
“In the end I say she's an unattainable being different from the rest of us”
“I whole heartedly agree”
The mood was back to how it was
“I only attempted that plan thinking that you would take it as a joke. But I didn't expect you to react like that. I was honestly a bit scared and started throwing biscuits at you to protect myself”
“Oh yeah. Sorry about lashing at you back then. Hina-san was the first friend I made in ages and the thought of losing her made me really agitated and confused and I used you to release all that frustration. I'm truly sorry. It won't happen again”
“I'll only say this once but I'm also sorry for dragging you without consulting you first”
“Oh yeah couldn't you have just told me that Hina-san was coming and I could have acted like I was surprised”
“Well part of me also wanted to see your reaction when she saw you, so I didn't tell you”
I sighed
“To think all of that was because you wanted a friend”
“Speaking of friends, didn't you say Hina was your first friend? But wasn't it I who talked you first. Then you don't see me as a friend?”
“No it's not that. I didn't know if you considered me to be your friend since we only talked for a bit and the whole friend’s thing is still new to me so I don't how to distinguish acquaintances from friends”
“I see”
“So are we friends?”
She then said without even thinking about it for a second
”No we aren't"
