《A generic love story: disturbance》Chapter 44

“…Well, I`ll be staying at Okinawa for awhile.” Kenichi spoke into his phone.
“Please take care, sensei.” A light voice replied.
“You too, Kyoya.” He ended the call.
Ever since that day, Kenichi has been bothered every night by a feeling he could not explain. It was a harrowing thought, which didn`t disturb him too much but terrified him every time it appeared. Kenichi feared the eyes Kyoya had that night as much as his student`s unclear future. Something told him that he had made a grave mistake, guiding Kyoya into the wrong path, which would ultimately lead to something he was afraid to imagine.
Outside, the sun has already set. Bleak winds touched his cheeks, scratching the back of his ear. Kenichi`s flight would depart at 10:00pm [or 22:00], and he had more than four hours left. Wandering aimlessly on the streets bordering Tokyo airport, Kenichi fell deep into thoughts.
“It`s because you are unworthy of being Kyoya`s teacher.” He told himself.
Kenichi had requested a two-month break from work, and decided to visit Okinawa. The city`s culture depth lies in its history, especially of martial arts. Having registered a course in one of the oldest Karate schools in Okinawa, he hoped to improve himself as a martial artist, and as a teacher.
“For his sake, I need to improve.” He spoke, thinking of the innocent smile Kyoya would rarely show while training.
Randomly, his stomach grumbled. Kenichi gazed at the series of neighboring food stores. Then remembered how he would feel on a flight before deciding not to eat. Standing still too long, he received unwelcoming stares from other Japanese using the service. Kenichi finally lost his appetite and went somewhere with less people. Sitting in one place waiting was not his thing.

*Sneezes*
A burst of wind drove the cold through his clothing and into his body. A wave of leaves followed, one landed on his back. Kenichi looked around. No one was there. The road was strangely sparse.
“Autumn is here already…” he mumbled.
He started drifting into one of the more sheltered alleyways. Stepping in, he paused.
Away from the rustling leaves, within the bone-chilling silence, Kenichi heard a faint noise. Moving towards the direction, he was pushing himself deeper into the night. A light flashed at the end of the path, and he saw a female foreigner with two thugs.
“We`ll be standing here for a while, so why don`t you help us kill time?”
“Yea, just take your clothes off. We`ll give you the directions once we`re done huehue.”
“N-No! Let me go!” The woman yelled in an unfamiliar accent.
(Harassing tourists? Yakuzas nowadays have no shame)
“Excuse me! Can you let the lady go? This would damage our tourism industry you know?”
“The fuck are you? Get lost before you get your face beaten into a pulp!”
“I`m sure we shouldn`t fight…” Kenichi ate a haymaker to the face, the surprise punch almost made him fall.
“Cocksucker, are you fucking deaf? Fuck off before I get real angry!”
Kenichi`s head suddenly turned to the thug.
“What are… Bugugh!”
The spinning hook kick whacked the guy in his face, knocking him and some of his teeth clean out. Kenichi followed his momentum and used the spinning step towards his next target.
The other goon frantically backed off, but Kenichi simply kept spinning. The tornado kick caught him in the neck and shoved his head into the wall. Blood leaked from the side of the thug`s head as Kenichi looked at the women.

“Are you ok? Where do you need to go?”
“Ah… Ahreegartoo! You saved me.”
“Uhm, so where are you staying?”
“A-Actually I fine… I going now. Thank you veerry much.” She spoke, her clumsy Japanese made it almost incomprehensible to Kenichi.
Awkwardly enough, the lady ran away.
He found it strange that a tourist would go into such a place, but the sound from the handheld radio one of the thug`s belt caught his attention:
“The cargo is being unloaded, so keep people out and focus on your work.”
“Nani…?”
Gale winds screamed, as Kenichi rushed further into the area.

Marrow
Marrow was old... older than me or you. Older than the nation he lived in. And older than anyone he knew. Which is not surprising, because he did not know anyone else. He had been sitting, or perhaps leaning is the more apt expression, in a closet for many, many years, and had done nothing but stare. But eating, or rather chewing, a spider opened up another world to him. A world with a voice that was talking to him - to HIM! Marrow did not get what the voice was saying, but that was secondary at this point. And Marrow started to feel restless. Nuff said. If you like a sometimes quirky skeleton as the main character and want to ride along for its coming of age, or perhaps rather coming of sapience story... give it a shot. It is a litrpg context with skills, levels, heroes and monsters... and a skeleton. Not sure yet how fast the skeleton will level... we'll have to wait and see. As a disclaimer... this is my secondary novel... my main story is ongoing and most of my time is dedicated to that. As such, new chapters will, at first, be rather infrequent and irregular. If things go well, I may shift more attention to the story, but we shall see how things go.
