《A generic love story: disturbance》Chapter 27

“School is back tomorrow”
That is one of the things which brought dread to many. For some, however, it was normal. Those are no longer earthlings; they are probably aliens or miscreations that would alter the development course of our world forever. Will an exciting future awaits the human of this world? Or would it be an Armageddon that ends the suffering of them all? [“déjà-vu, I have been to this place before”. If you get the meme ur probably from where I am. ]
Sougo Kyoya, a highschool student in NK high, was not one bit concerned about that. Going to school meant dealing with pages after pages of homework daily, papers and papers of tests weekly, memorizing lines and lines of information and formulas monthly, in turn leading to stress and depression; that idea couldn`t even make someone like Kyoya blink. The boy studied as if it was the only thing to do in the world, and he does not touch any form of digital entertainment. He deemed them all as distracting and counterproductive. What was his motive, what was the drive for him to work so hard, someone might ask?
Kyoya didn`t know. He didn`t really care. He was busy looking for another student, named Nishimura Takumi. This was the first day of school after a two-week break, and he didn`t see Takumi at the usual seat. Taking the chair next to it, Kyoya waited. One passenger, two passenger, three passenger,… the carriage was eventually filled with early commuters, with no sign of his classmate.
“Specimen, is that seat for me?”
He looked at the direction from which the voice came. Ueda Eirin held a schoolbag in her arms, with morning sunshine streaming down her silver hair.
“Eh…”
Without confirming that the seat was indeed taken, the girl pushed Kyoya`s bag onto his lap and sat down. Surprisingly, Kyoya didn`t move. She fixed her already straight hair, before letting her gaze hover around.

“Anou, Eiri-san, have you eaten breakfast?”
“Ie.” She answered without looking at him.
“My mom baked me some croissants for breakfast. Why don`t you have it too when it`s still hot?” Kyoya`s hands rustled inside his bag.
Immediately, Eirin was interested. As quick as a squirrel, she swooped the biggest one from the package and brought it to her mouth. The girl munched on that croissant happily, before realizing that Kyoya was the one who gave her the food. Slowing down, Eiri looked at Kyoya, and blushed:
“A-Arigatou gozaimasu. Oishi desu. [thank you for the food. It`s delicious.]” Eirin spoke, feeling a sweet sense of guilt.
“Un-Uhm. I`m glad you like it.” Kyoya can`t help but smile as he thought how cute the girl looked.
Her face flushed with embarrassment, and so she turned away, staring at the entrance in the opposite direction.
“Nee Eirin-san, can you help me with my biology homework from the break?”
“Ah!”-the girl jumped-“S-sure. Show me?”
After that, Eirin got the chance to show off the “research data” she gathered so far through using it to solve highschool Biology homework. Nevertheless, she was brilliant in her fields.
Noon, classroom.
“Kyoya!!!” Someone called loudly.
A chair was surfing on the floor straight at Kyoya`s table, before it slowed down and stopped exactly in the seat on the other side. Takumi pulled the chair out and rested his bottom on the padding. He faced Kyoya with a fired up expression, and said:
“Join our football team! Last spring festival we lost terribly! It was because our class formed a team so late, and we had no time to train with eachother. You hold the record of our class on endurance, and we need that!”
“Eh… I`m really bad at sports… I fail most of my PE tests you know.”

“No worry! We will train you! It`s only after spring break right? You can join our training match after today`s classes.”
“Uh… I don`t…”
“Nee Sougo-kun, try it!”
“Yea why don`t you?”
“C`mon dude give it a go!”
Many others backed the idea, so the small male student had no choice but to agree. When classes have ended, they took eachother to the school`s soccer field. Many spectators were there, students from both class included. The small boy was given a team uniform, he was appointed to be a striker. Pinching Takumi, he shrieked in silence:
“A striker!? I don`t even know what the rules are! Are you out of your mind!?”
“Relax. This is only a practice match. No pressure.”
Kyoya continue screaming inside. The referee hit the whistle and the match begun. After thirty minutes or so, Kyoya was proven to be utterly useless. He can swiftly drift past the opponent`s line, but he can`t carry the ball with him. When an opponent ran at him, Kyoya instinctively dashed sideways, letting the player through. Having half their team playing in a clown fiesta, Takumi had to carry. Laughs and jokes resounded from the audience, but Takumi did not falter. He continued playing, using his tall stature and trained stamina to defend while attacking, doing his best to survive the match.
Last minute. The scoreboard showed 5-4, with the other class in the lead. Takumi felt desperate, and he gave up on defending their goal to pressure the opponent as hard as he could. He lead the ball, tricked one guy, circled through another, and then was surrounded. At that moment, he prayed, and sent the ball flying.
Because of his below average height, Kyoya couldn`t see anything behind that crowd tightening on Takumi. Suddenly, the ball shot into the air. Kyoya could see clearly where it was going to land, after calculating the trajectory of the object. His brain, soaked with adrenaline, sped up the thinking process, and he decided to use that move.
Kyoya ran at the enemy`s goal, exactly where the ball was going to land. He knew that there was no way he could catch it in time, and so Kyoya swung his body as the ball entered his range. Winding both his arms to the left side, Kyoya`s right feet drilled into the ground, setting him into a forward spinning motion. When he has traveled a 180 degree arc, his power leg jumped, pulling his whole body into the air, horizontally. His right leg revolved around his core in mid air, hitting the ball with tremendous force. The 540 degree crescent kick smashed the ball right into the down left corner of the net, rendering the keeper`s efforts useless. The same leg that jumped landed, before Kyoya stood up straight. Everyone opened their mouth wide but didn`t say anything. The ending whistle was blown.
“It`s a draaaaaaaaaw!” Everyone broke out from the silence.
Cheers, everywhere. The underdog was actually able to go even against a formidable opponent. Takumi and Kyoya almost became stars.
With a disgusted feeling on her face, the tall girl walked away; her curved lips were whispering something that quickly faded into the wind.

Blood Quest - A LitRPG
Leon's family has been diagnosed with a new type of incurable blood disease. It's an absolute death sentence and when it turns aggressive, you only have a few more years of painful life left to live. His mother has just begun the last years of the disease when a person supposedly comes back from death with supernatural abilities. He talks about a choice you get after death--get an extra chance to come back to life, or die. Even with Leon's diminishing life span, he won't consider the option of going there, until he meets another survivor who had the same goal as him and succeeded. Leon has a choice to make—die now for a chance to save his mother, or die in a few years, where the disease rapidly melts his muscles from his own body. He enters a game-like world, a sort of limbo, where his ultimate goal is to climb the tower of Katastroph before his mother's time runs out. There are a few problems with this though. The tower is almost impossible to beat, if you die you won't revive, and only three people in over twenty years have actually made it back. Leon has two years to climb the tower, with the help of the few people willing to try, while Ai, the tutorial guide, makes things harder for them. ***** The story starts pretty dark but goes onto a lighter tone. Then (more) dark again. Disclaimer: This story is an experimental project and I hope to get any and all feedback you can give me. Warning: First draft. Chapters tend to be between 3400-4100 words long (about 8-11 A4-pages). Mentioning it since I've seen it in other fictions :P Sometimes they're shorter, sometimes they're longer. ******************************** CHAPTER RELEASES UPDATE: As the first "book" in the series is done, I'm going to release coming chapters somewhat sporadically, and when Writathon ends, I'll probably go back to publishing one chapter per weekend. We'll just have to wait and see! I hope you enjoy the story! I really appreciate all comments and feedback, so if you have anything to say, feel free to voice it :) ************ [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
8 187Thaellis A Kingdom Down Under
A kingdom down under, once it had prospered, expanded, built, and conquered until all that they thought of worth was theirs. Peace ruled for a time the people absorbed in their own self-satisfaction. But eventually, old urges returned. Conquest called, though this time there was no outside outlet to turn it towards. So in ages so long and distant the memories most couldn’t recall, the kingdom turned upon itself. War raged for many years, no one coming close to being considered a victor, it appeared that this self-destruction would go on till nothing was left. Many if given the chance would have claimed that would have been a mercy for this kingdom and its people. For as they killed, and butchered each other over things they already had. Vibrations traveled through rock and stone guiding things best left alone. Creatures came things of horror armed to the teeth with claws, fangs, and armor. Cities fell and were consumed not even the bones of individuals remained, for these creatures hunger knew no limits, had no end. The kingdom rallied together once more, what was left, they fought and fought but their Nightmare had no end. Their greatest, brightest minds worked their magic, carved into stone. Wards they called them, this would keep their Nightmares away. They abandoned attempts to fight and focused on walling every surface of the kingdom with these Wards. It worked mostly, an illusion of peace returned, one that crumbled often, but it was better than before, it was a bearable hell now. So here we start our story as ages have passed for a walled-off kingdom, hunted by a never-ending Nightmare. With a poor but deserving soul born into this world.
