It ended as Maria said it would, in the beginning of the fight both transformed but only one remained in that form. The Wang Li spirit creature form looked like a humanoid lizard. In that form, he could also spit fire from his mouth using SP.

(If they transformed, then they wouldn't be at full strength to fight the finals)
