Chapter 4

I stared down at the red dust ball and then I stared back and Mephis before turning back to the dust ball.

I stared at down at it for several minutes before I once again turned back to Mephis.

Markas: “You want me to make the core 80% iron” I asked him to which he nodded “And 15% Nickel” I asked to which he nodded again “And the final 5% is Mithril” I asked as he once again nodded. “Where do you want me to get Mithril from?” I asked him to which he looked at the planet

Mephis: “Its surface is littered with Mithiril deposits, there is literally enough Mithril in it to make up over 15% of the core” he said to me with a dead pan look “But only make it 5%” he stated once again.

Markas: “Why are we putting Mithril in the core, I don't think you put Mithril in the core of a planet” I stated as I thought about all the planets I knew about, no one told me it had Mithril in it, I mean how would that work out anyways?

Mephis: “Just believe me alright, I know what I am saying” he stated confidently but as I looked at him suspiciously he sighed and began explaining “Mithril is the magical metal, capable of withstanding heats of up to 25,000 degrees and takes insane amounts of magic to forge” as he stated that I nodded “Well apparently the big secret regarding Mithril is if you put some in the core of a planet before creating it you can create a mana rich world!” he practically yelled.

I stood there and stared at him for a few moments before sighing, I mean what do I have to lose anyways?

Oh, how I would regret those thoughts in the future.

I looked down at the planet and began concentrating, I located the Mithril deposits and begun to move it, down into the planet, moving thousands upon thousands of tons of minerals, earth and resources out of the way.

It was a slow process, and I couldn't afford to not concentrate.

I recall Mephis coming and going, coming and going hundreds of times.

I wonder how long this is taking me.

Enough useless thoughts though.

I had to concentrate on the task at hand.

I was destabilising the planet with each metre deeper the Mithril moved.

The landmass above was splintering and cracking, but I simply held it together for now.

I'd focus on fixing that later on.

Pushing deeper inside I reached the gooey part of the core.

The outer part.

It wasn't soft, nor was it hard.

It was weird.

I liked it though.

I wanted to grab it and mould stuff with it but I restrained myself since I knew it would terribly damage the planet if I just started screwing with the core.

So I calmed myself down and slowly, ever so slowly moved the Mithril through the outer core and towards the inside.

I reached the inside of the core and planted the Mitril right there, in the very middle of the entire planet and then I hardened it with my entire might making a giant solid ball of Mithril.

I then moved onto my next task and began to look to gather the iron that was all around the planet and began to push it down towards the core.

This was far harder than pushing the Mithril down into the core.

No matter how hard this was I had to persevere.

And that is what I did.

I pushed the Iron down and down until I discovered something.

An incredible discovery at that.

It was Universe Dust.

Material from the formation of the Universe.

A small amount but still an incredible discovery.

So I did what anyone would do.

I shoved it towards the core.

It shouldn't harm the core since Universe Dust could co-exist with anything but hopefully it'll make the planets formation much easier.

It was a guess at best and I still had nothing to lose from such an action.

So I continued pushing the Iron and Universe Dust down into the core.

It took me a while but I did it.

In the end I reached the core, slowly but surely passed through the outer core and surrounded the Mitril with Universe Dust and Iron.

Smiling at my good hand work I then proceeded to bring the nickel down and made it surround and mix with the iron and then I forced it all to solidify.

Hardening it and warming it up.

I remember Mephis saying I needed to keep the core warm enough to allow life to flourish, or I think so at least.

Nonetheless, I warmed the core up to about 8000 degrees hoping it wasn't to high but we'd find out soon anyway.

I solidified the inner core and left the gooey outer core do its thing and surround the inner core stabilising.

It felt right somehow so I believed in my intuition and I stopped pouring my will into the core and attempt to put the cracked landmass back together.

That was another slow process but it was a necessary one.

It was finally done.

The planet felt alive in a sense.

It no longer felt like a dead giant red dust ball.

It felt like a dying giant red dust ball.

Oh well, for now it was better than nothing.

I yawned and stretched my limbs before making my way back into my domain to see Mephis sitting in his pile of books drawing more plans.

Seeing me enter the room surprised him and he got up immediately and made his way past me to look and analyse the planet.

He returned mere moments later and began yelling.

Mephis: “Fool!” he yelled at me “You made the core 11% Mithril, 11% Nickel and 73% Iron and 5% something Unknown, why didn't you do 5% Mitril?! And what in Cosmos name is that Unknown material!” he asked me in an very irritated manner to which I pondered for a moment.

Markas: “You said the planet had roughly 15% Mithril in its surface so I took one third of the Mithril and shoved it in the core” I said in a matter of fact manner, which surprised the Mephis “I did my job, you should have done yours, because this problem is 100% your fault” I said and turned around to go sit down “And it's not like it hurt the planet you know, it feels alive at least and the answer to your second question is” I paused for a moment before looking at him and smiling “Universe Dust” I said happily.

Mephis stood there in shock for a few minutes before his mind starting ticking and he reacted to me.

Mephis: “Universe Dust” he paused in shock and then glared at me “UNIVERSE DUST!” he exploded in anger and then began pacing around the room for several minutes till he calmed down “Do you know what Universe Dust is capable of?” he asked me to which I shook my head which caused him to yell again “THEN WHY DID YOU PUT IT IN THE CORE!?” he asked me in a shrill voice.

Markas: “Why wouldn't I?” I asked him back which stumped him as he looked for an answer “I mean its not like it hurts my planet now, does it?” I mused as I smiled.

Mephis: “What if the planet destabilises?” he asked me in a worry tinged tone to which I smiled.

Markas: “We” I paused while looking at him “are” I once again paused as I turned around to look at the pile of books “screwed should that happen” and with that I turned back to him “Might want to find out what happens once you overload an core with Mithril and then add Universe Dust to it, lets hope for the best shall we” and with that I closed my eyes as I saw Mephis attempt to wipe the fatigue out of his face in a tired manner.
