《How to God 101》Chapter 3: Waking Discussion

Chapter 3
I opened my eyes and stared at my wooden ceiling before pushing myself off of my bed slowly and stretching my limbs.
I had slept shortly after I brought Mephis to my domain.
That was a while ago, meaning he surely had ample time to learn all I needed to commence building my planet.
Now that my limbs were fully stretched I moved towards the lounge to check up on my little angel.
Turning the door knob I stared at the black haired teen in my room who had a depressed appearance coupled by a tired look.
Surrounded by hundreds of books; pieces of paper full of schematics, blue prints and notes as well as a couple dozen pens and pencils.
He sat in the middle of this huge pile with a book titled 'Water Worlds' in his hands.
The thought was interesting so I kept it rotating in my mind, 'Water World' huh.
Having heard my door open he moved his concentration from the book in his hands towards me.
Mephis: “Morning” he said to me seething with hatred, garnering my attention but I simply smiled and walked towards him “Carefree as usual” he sighed after glaring at me for a few moments “You have been asleep for a long time, and in that period of time I have devoted myself to learning about the 'Sciences' created by the lesser races, and” he paused as he stared at me “They are quite interesting, if only the reason I was learning them wasn't so depressing” and with that he placed the book down to his side and got up, toppling a few of the book towers while he was it.
Markas: “So you have made progress at least” I chimed as he made his towards me “I hope it is enough to start soon” I said as I walked towards the front door leading to the veranda overseeing my red dust ball.
Following behind me, Mephis stopped for a moment to pick up a few pieces of paper before once again hurrying towards my side.
As we reached the veranda, I leaned against the railing and stared down before I glanced at Mephis and gestured for him to speak.

Mephis: “Well you see, according to what I have learnt we have a lot of work to do” and with that he pointed at the planet “The planets core, mantle and crust have to be modified to fit the type of world we'll be building and for that reason we now have to design the planet type we want” and with that he brought up several blue prints all showing different planets.
Taking them into my hands I looked over them slowly, studying the sheets and then thinking about it.
I could build a terrestrial planet, but a water world sounded so much more interesting when you thought about it, but I could also build a gas world but that would limit my options for creating life afterwards.
A terrestrial planet was the simplest of them all as well as the most common planet type since it required little effort for most gods, and a tad bit more effort by me, but it was still an easy option.
A gas world I completely disregarded for now since it was the hardest and least interesting to make.
A water world though was a much more interesting option and if I could make one, I would.
But could I?
I pondered in silence as I stared down at the blue prints.
Mephis: “I suggest an terrestrial world since it'll be much easier for us to make, I've already copied many different planets structures and make up and all we have to do is modify our own a little and start the construction process so-” but I cut him off as I raised my hands and put my index finger to his lips.
Markas: “Hush” I cooed gently as I continued thinking, disregarding his opinion.
He looked very irritated by he stayed silent so I removed my finger from his lips and stared intensely a the blueprint for the water world.
I dropped the blueprint for the other world types and held the water worlds tightly in my hand and turned my neck to stare at him only to see him sigh and look back at me in irritation.
Mephis: “Seriously” he started “Are you doing this because you actually want a water world or simply to annoy me? Because I'm starting to think its the latter” and with that he pulled the blueprint out my grasp and stared down at it “You do realise this will be far harder than making a terrestrial planet?” he asked quietly to which I simply nodded “I wont be able to get any decent schematics and it will involve a lot of guess work on our part” he continued to which I stared at him intently.

Markas: “No matter how hard it will be, we shall make this so called 'water world'” I answered resolutely to which he sighed for I think the fourth time today before nodding and bringing out a pen and started drawing over the blueprint.
Mephis: “The planets core should be dense enough to hold the water down yet not dense enough that it, well you know” he showed me his hands joining together to then part with a 'sch-bloom' sound to which I nodded slowly “But that aside, we then have to figure out how deep the ocean will be and if the planet will have any landmass at all” to which I started thinking.
Markas: “Well we could always buy an island to make our job easier you know” I told him to which he stared at me in disbelief “It's not that hard really, it'll take me awhile to make the planet anyway and in that time I can gather some more karma and buy an island to suit our ne-” but he cut me off.
Mephis: “What is wrong with you?!” he yelled at me “We have a planet we can design anyway we want but you not only choose a hard option, you then try to skimp on important parts to make your job easier?!” he roared in anger “What do you want? An easier job or an harder job! Pick one!” he panted after he went through his small episode to which I simply patted his back gently but he shrugged my arm off and walked back inside muttering under his breath.
He should be calmer, I mean I'm the one who is going to do all the 'actual' work.
But I guess I should be lenient on him, I mean I have been sleeping for a year or two and he did spend that time alone learning about what I designated him to.
I decided I should comfort my only angel, seeing as how it would be bad if he decided to run away.
Entering my domain after him, I saw him sitting in the pile of books with several books regarding water worlds open around him.
Markas: “We could always have the entire planets surface covered in water and then have floating islands” I said to him to which he simply looked at me as if he was considering it but then he shook his head.
Mephis: “No, that wont work, you are not powerful enough to do that and I don't know enough about planets to design such a thing for you in the first place” he said in a somewhat sad manner.
Markas: “We can always buy an island you know, and work on making more landmass later on once the planets population grows” I chimed “Its not like it'll grow instantly any ways, we have a lot of time” I then paused and considered “Who said they had to be land dwelling creatures, I can make aquatic life” I said confidently.
Mephis: “I'm sure you can so 'expertly' create aquatic life” he said sarcastically “That is not even our current concern” he stopped me from replying to him “We have to create the planet first and make sure the planet is capable of sustaining life and for that we have to make sure the core, mantle and crust are capable of doing what we need them to do, so” he paused and stared at me before pointing to the open seat to his left “Sit down and lets begin”.

Path of Righteousness
What do you desire? What are you afraid of? You run away from one, pursuing the other. Is that all you are? Conquer your fears. Dig to the bottom and confirm, what you really want... ...For you cannot escape suffering and death. You only have a little time. Use it wisely. Uru, a young boy with no talent for magic or fighting, sets out on a quest to become an avatar of order, the physical embodiment of righteousness, in a distant future, where control of origin energy allows people to defy physics and manipulate causality. Mocked by fate and broken by impossible dreams, all that's left is to stand in defiance to cruel existence. Because there is a Truth out there, somewhere. Singular, transcendent, eternal. What would you sacrifice for it? *** This is a fantastic sci-fi epic. It's going to blend both western and eastern traditional fantasy tropes – like might & magic and cultivation – with rational sci-fi grounded fully in reality, to produce a purely fictional fairy tale. I'd like to deliver something light-hearted and yet wholly serious. An uplifting adventure exploring the unfathomable reaches of humanity, free of indecency, with a healthy dose of humorous banter, legendary beings, and most importantly – lots of exciting, firework-filled mayhem! I've tried reading many web novels, but there's a fundamental problem with them – the eastern ones are annoyingly repetitive, superficial and morally destitute, while western ones are often dark, convoluted and profane. There's only so much one can do to filter out the bad and try to fill in the gaps with their own imagination. It's one thing to eat tasty fast food, but if it's moldy and filled with toxins, then it's not only poisonous, but also disgusting. The appreciation of beauty and higher values is disappearing at an alarming rate. Although there are throngs of talented people out there, none of them are creating what I want to witness – an inspiring battle against impossible odds, ending in absolute victory. A triumph of the spirit so overwhelming, it crushes the spectator into his seat and takes his breath away. I'm looking for a real paragon, so now I'd like to try conceiving one. *** The MC's name comes from Tolkien's Elven dictionary in Silmarillion, 'Uru' meaning 'Fire', and 'Dagnir an Uruloki' meaning 'Slayer of Dragons'. *** Note: I'm neither a native speaker, nor an aficionado of literature – I've never written anything before, and despite proficient English my literary prowess is abysmal. It therefore takes me a painful amount of effort to polish the chapters and bring them up to par. Last year I wrote and posted some on FictionPress, but I stopped since it wasn't going anywhere. The appalling amount of filth and mediocrity being peddled in all the media nowadays – a result of no conspiracy to manipulate the masses, but plain supply and demand – is no longer just the triumph of form over substance, but most worryingly corruption of the latter. Who wants to read about ideals anymore? And yet, masses flock together to gobble up perversion and depravity. That being said, I can't rule out pitiful exposure as the culprit to my failure, so I am now once again trying to increase it here, possibly for the last time. If there are still human beings present, hungry or in need of a detox after eating too much garbage, make yourselves heard, so I can see a reason to continue the story. Otherwise it's pointless – I'm not going to make fodder for the masses, and I'm most certainly not going to throw pearls before swine. I'll simply stop writing altogether.
