《A Traveller's Journey; A litRPG Tale. (part 1 complete.)》Chapter 25: Water Palace

Peter kept creating flames and water balls as he walked towards Aster's mansion. To obtain the promotion quest for the elemental mage, Peter had to visit her. The constant use of elementary magic slowly increased his mana manipulation to 1.3%. Even though it was illegal to cast magic in the town, his noble status made the patrolmen ignore him.

The butler met him outside and invited him in. Aster was sunbathing behind the mansion next to her pool. The view was one to be desired. Seeing the approaching Peter, Aster covered up and sat up straight, glaring at her Butler.

"Sorry, I should have waited outside." Peter tried to calm himself. "It's not your fault", Aster said inviting Peter to join her. "Hope you aren't busy right now. If it's alright I came to receive the class promotion quest." Peter politely declined knowing full well that it was only for pretence.

"That should be easy. Just get a tier 2 or above spell. And try to use it. Since magic is all personal, I can't suggest one path for you. As long as you can cast a tier 2 spell you should be able to continue your progress. Oh, and try to create your versions of the spells."

"I will try my best." Peter cut short the interaction as a barrage of notifications assaulted him.

You have completed the class promotion quest. You gained access to spell creation.

To Peter's dismay, the spell creation was too complicated and required complex mathematical calculations. Even the slightest variations required a mana manipulation rate of 20%. To Peter who didn't have time to invest in the research, opted to go to the skill-book seller and buy all the available tier two and three spells. With the almost infinite mana that he possessed, irrespective of the tier of the spell learned he would still be able to cast it regardless.

Considering to increase his attack power, the only few spells he could use were from the basic elements. Due to the mana defence reserving and bolstering his defence to an extremely high value, he opted to not learn the earth spells for tier 2.

The few spells that Peter learned all contributed heavily to his attack power. With the massive mana pool and such a wide variety of spells, Peter was confident he wouldn't have any issues at the next fight he would face. Being stuck with only the weaker melee attacks, the addition of strong magic attacks revitalized Peter's want to go kill some more things.

"Peter, we found another dungeon to the south-east. The difficulty is at least level 40. Are you free?" Sicily called Peter for help. "What's the name?" "Water Palace." 'Looks like I can get that water crystal sooner than I thought.' "Are you done with the other dungeon?", asked Peter. " We sold it to Alex. We needed a full party for it." "Ok. But if we get a mana crystal I get to keep it." "Deal." "I need to get somethings ready. Meet you outside the gate in an hour?"

Entering his office, Peter glanced through the materials he required to make the mana potion. 'Aura leaves, lotus roots, powdered fangs, hmm sunshine blossom petals? Another rare herb?' Peter went through the diary looking for its locations. 'Along river banks? Interesting'. Making sure he had everything ready Peter went out for a walk along the Alder river. There was sunlight shining brightly over him. Constantly using identify, a utility skill he got from Ionna, multiple uncommon and rare herbs were now spotted which were once hidden from him. 'There you are.' Peter carefully removed the herb with its roots placing it in his inventory.

On his way back he found another two curious-looking herbs, that we're not marked in the dairy. 'I need to meet Ionna soon.' The little excursion had gained him another level for herbalism.

There was none present in the office. Peter bolted the door and prepared his ingredients.

Mana Recovery Potion(R)

Ingredients:

Sunshine Blossom Petals x10

Aura leaves x10

Powdered lotus roots 50g

Powdered fangs 20g

Mixing essence

Water

Method: Preheat the cauldron. Add water and mixing essence. Once the mixture starts boiling cool it down till the oil starts to segregate at the top. Add the Aura leaves and Sunshine Blossom Petals. Let the content simmer for 5 minutes. Once the colour of the mixture turns silver, add lotus flower roots. Slowly release mana to prevent overheating and hold the heat constant for at least 10 minutes. Simmer for a longer period for higher quality extract.

Peter's confidence in brewing rose a lot as he made more potions. Controlling his mana, he was able to maintain the simmering for a further thirty minutes. The potion made was also of the highest quality.

Mana Recovery Potion(R)

Quality: 10

Recovered Mana: 1000

Cooldown: 5 minutes

You made a mana recovery potion(+10). You gained 1200 alchemy experience.

Your mana manipulation has increased.

There was enough potion for eight vials. Considering the high quality, this was unexpected. Tucking the potions away, Peter prepared to leave to meet Sicily at the gates.

The girls were standing outside the gate waiting for Peter's arrival. From a single glance, Peter could tell that their equipments were all upgraded. The last dungeon was a gold mine to the girls. Before selling it off to Alex, they made sure to gain a full set of the dropped armours.

Sicily walked ahead leading the way. Her class underwent noticeable changes. Looks like all of them received a few magical skills except maybe Anya. There was no semblance of any mana emitting from her. "Alright, the dungeon is right ahead."

After 15 minutes of walking south-east, they reached in front of a massive lake. Alex and a few of his other guildmates were waiting for them on the banks. "Hey, Peter. I didn't know you fought as well." Being polite Peter replied, "just here for the recipes." "True it's weird how you couldn't just get the good stuff and trade for it." Alex motioned his subordinates to start working on something. Soon a deed was presented before Sicily. "It's a limited entry permit. I hope that should be enough? The whirlpool will appear as soon as you accept it." With a nod, Sicily took the deed and Alex and his friends withdrew into the forest behind.

"Is that a second class?" Sicily asked curious to see a new class. "Yes, it's a magic class. It works well with my massive mana pool. Give me a second, I need to reserve my mana for the shield." "No need", Anya interrupted. "I'm strong enough now. We just need you to DPS." 'It doesn't hurt to be careful', Peter reserved 10,000 mana for the defence to be safe. 'Just in case'.

"So how much damage can your magic attacks do?" Asked the usually silent Mary. "Depends on my affinity and spell tier." After a short pause and calculation, he continued, "depending on the spell, it could reach from anywhere between 300 to 27,000." After considering the dumbfounded looks he quickly stated, "but the high damage ones cost high mana." 'Although I can still do about 50 of them even with my mana reserved for defence', there was no reason to let the girls know that.

A whirlpool formed in the lake and magic steps appeared leading them to the bottom of the lake. Sicily let Anya take the lead and followed behind her closely. Unlike the usual appearance, she no longer carried a quiver. "Where are your arrows?" "I learned magic arrows. It's easier and cheaper. Tier one only cost 1 mana." "Just one mana? How much mana can you use?" Peter was curious. He had no idea how much mana others had. "2500" replied Sicily with pride. "How much do you have?" asked Sicily curious. "I can use about 10,000 now." "That much?" After a short pause, she remembered, "oh, the stupid legendary class." For some reason, my class started to piss her off.

The stairs led to an air bubble at the bottom of the lake. There were multiple fish swimming around outside the bubble both big and small. Looking up, the water dome had sunlight penetrating through it filtering all but the blue shades. The palace was smaller in size at most that of a two-story building. There was merfolk waiting outside as if to prevent intruders.

"HALT, ONLY THOSE WHO DEEM WORTHY TO CHALLENGE THE GREAT SEA WURM SHALL PROCEED FURTHER!!!" One of the merfolk proclaimed with a thundering voice as we were assaulted by a mental resistance. Seeing none of us fainted, they stepped away from the palace door.

Dungeon: Water Palace

Location: Southeast Alderriver Forest

Difficulty: Easy

The party leader has confirmed entry. Please wait to be teleported in 3, 2, 1...

Unlike before, teleportation had a suction effect which resulted in the party becoming dizzy. The abrupt change caused them to buckle down and crouch wearing out the impact. The interior was pleasant. The roof and the walls were well decorated. The floor was water magically made stable to walk on. Beneath it the same sea creatures which dwelled outside the bubble were visible.

"Shit, he tricked me." Sicily soon figured out the small problem they were in. The palace was just a single room tomb. Exchanging a full-blown dungeon for something like this was a huge loss. To Peter, however, this meant an easy job. The wurm was at the back of the hall waiting for them. Its aggro range must be pathetically low.

Without waiting for any instruction, Anya rushed ahead and bashed its head with her sword. There wasn't much damage but the wurm took that personally. It started barraging her with water bullets.

'A stationary monster?' Peter thought to himself. Peter had already decided not to interfere unless something unexpected happens. It seemed the girls were trying to impress him from the way they were fighting. 'Looks like they improved their defence a bit.' Peter was impressed by the growth since only two days ago they couldn't stand a few hits from the sand wolves. 'Looks like the high agility battle with the wolves paid off.'

Peter was relaxed as he slowly evaluated the girls' current status. To him, this wasn't a fight that a few landslides couldn't end. 'Let's see, four hundred thousand health. So, just 16 landslides. 3 seconds cooldown. Hmm, so 48 seconds, giving wiggle room for errors, let's say one minute tops.' Peter was mentally calculating how fast he could end the battle

It took the ladies eight minutes to finish off the fight. The summoned minions at the end flustered them a bit. Even Peter didn't expect the wurm to summon 36 of those. The battle ended and Peter grabbed the water crystal from the dead wurm. There was only one chest and since he wasn't the leader, there was no way for him to know what was in it. Sicily forgot to put the looting free for all. Either way, Peter got what he came for although the event was extremely boring.

You have attuned to a water crystal.

The passive quest updated and soon they prepared to leave. Their faces clearly showed how frustrated they were at this dungeon.
