《Hero or Fool》Chapter 10: Training

"How can I get stronger then?" I also eagerly.
"To simplify things, harsh training for the next few weeks." A grin swept across my face.
"I'm ready for anything!" I am prepared to get stronger at any costs, just thinking of poor Tiw's suffering drives me further, for the first time in this world I am fighting for someone other than myself, I will not give in.
"Our first training is going to focus on increasing your affinity with your sword. You must learn to control your Aspectu." He says.
"Aspectu? What is that? It sounds like a cool attack." Curiosity fills me as I speak.
"You idiot, you have been using aspectu this whole time! It is the energy that is created by linking up with the spirit in your sword. It is extremely difficult to control without a spirit sword." ... Oh... Well, that's embarrassing.
"I see so you are telling me that I need to master this power? I can use pretty strong attacks right now, can it really even get much stronger?"
"So young, listen here kid aspectu's effects can be even more diverse and powerful than magic if you are able to gain some control over it. You have potential but lack both experience and training." He replied firmly.
"Let's start training already then!" I yell in anticipation.
"Fine, catch." Jax tosses me a strange rectangular piece of paper with symbols I had never seen before inscribed on it. "It's a talisman. Put it on your sword to begin your training." I put the strange paper on my sword, and wave a dread runs over me. I can't feel my connection to Hope anymore. What did this paper do to her? Is she okay? "Stop panicking your spirit is fine, the talisman temporarily breaks your connection, it's necessary to your training. You are going to learn how to use Aspectu without your spirit, as I mentioned before mastering this skill can lead to endless possibilities. In addition, aspectu can be combined with magic to create new or more powerful spells."

"That is kind of complex, I am having some trouble understanding the nature of Aspectu." My hand rubs the back of my nape as I attempt to figure it out.
"Uhh, to put it simply it is an energy created from your desires to fulfil them. Enough talk, it is time to start training! Focus on your sword until you are able to use Aspectu without your spirit." I head over to a nearby tree to begin my training, I focus on the centre of my sword and try to create the energy that I had fought with during my time with Hope. I am focusing extremely hard, but nothing is happening! This is the vaguest training ever, I have no clue how I am supposed to unlock this power. This is going to take more effort than I first thought, I assumed all things in this world were easy to learn because of the levelling system, but I now find myself sorely mistaken.
I continue to focus for the next two hours, there must be a trick to this, something I'm missing. I think back to the first time I used this power, I was about to die and greatly wanted to kill the beast in front of me.
A spark of light shoots off of the sword... I am on to something! Wait, why did I want to kill the beast? Was it fear of death? No, that is not me, I fought with all my might because I wanted to win, I want to accomplish my lifelong goal.
I feel it, Aspectu is running through my body... It's quite faint compared to when I use it with Hope, but it is definitely there, finally some progress. I focus on my goals and begin to amass more Aspectu at a slow rate, in time I gain enough energy to use an attack. My eyes open and I smirk.

I compress the mass of aspectu and surround the edge of my sword with it. I swing my sword at a nearby tree and completely slice through it.
"That is some impressive power, but it took you way too long to amass it. Let's call it a day. You can stay at my house nearby while you are training." He leads me to his home where I am treated with a meal and a warm bed.
I collapse on the bed, my body aches from all the Aspectu I had running through it. Falling asleep, huh... Just an everyday thing is hard to do... My mind is plagued with thoughts of all the cool attacks that I could create. The only problem with having a bunch flashy attacks is that I would have to come up with equally flashy attack names, that could be a real pain down the road. After some more pointless though I fall asleep.
Jax wakes me up in the morning and treats me to a heavy breakfast.
"Today for training you are going to practice channelling aspectu through your body instead of your sword. Practicing this will help you to gain more control of aspectu and help you learn to apply it to other areas like magic." I sit down in a meditative pose and begin to create a flow of aspectu throughout my body, the flow is still weak, but it is improving. Before I know it, the sun has set.
"What am going to be practising tomorrow?" I ask.
"The same thing, in fact, you are going to be practising for a week straight." I gulp but nod. As promised I spend the next week, regulating the flow of Aspectu in my body, I have a pretty good grasp of it now, I can completely control how much flows and to wear.
"I think you are ready to take the next step, mixing your magic with aspectu to change its form. It's very dangerous to do without proper training, so these last two weeks are going to be focused on this concept." I spend the next two weeks personally under Jax's close instruction on how to mix magic with Aspectu.
During this time, I was able to accomplish many things, I am now able to improve the strength of my own magic by adding Aspectu to them and secondly I have created three original spells using Aspectu, they are basics of magic I've already learned.
But I do wonder... Is really enough to beat Theresa and rescue Tiw?
