《RE: Choice》Chapter 6-2 - Lockdown

Something inside my mind tugs me to hide. Oh, shit…! I need to hide… but where? I look around the room where I can see, but I can't see it all in the crib. First, I need to get out of this crib… I try to stand up, but I'm unable to. Damn! Weak ass legs… there's no other choice. I increase the muscle cell count in my legs, allowing me to stand up.
I jump up and grab the railing to the crib with my right arm and pull myself up. I climb over and jump down. I walk around the room looking for a place to hide. Hmm… there's a closet… a wardrobe… under the mattress… but none of those are probably good enough…
My eyes stop on a nearby drawer. I can't possibly fit in there… can I? I walk over to the drawer and open it. Luckily, there is nothing inside. Great! It looks like it's big enough! I climb into the drawer and lie down.
Now what…? How do I close this damn thing? I feel my heart skip a beat when I hear voices closing in on me. Oh, shit… Uhh… Fuck, I need to do something! I do the first thing that comes to mind, and I throw my body in the air while trying to force the drawer to close a little. I make some progress, but I don't close the drawer completely. The opening to the outside is about an inch.
"Please, wait! Please, wait for the doctor!"
I hear my mother's voice get closer, but she has company. Several scary looking men enter the room with her. Who the fuck…? I make the connection that the doctor is not in this group of men. I notice an old man with a scabbard attached to his waist.

"Where is your child?"
"What are you talking about? He's right…"
She pauses for a moment. Suddenly, she runs to the crib and shuffles around the blanket and pillow.
"Durrendal?! I swear I left him here! Durrendal?! Where are you?!"
The old man sighs.
"Madam Pancakes, haven't you've been working too hard lately? You should rest your body now and then."
The scary men make for the exit.
"Wait, it's not like that! Durrendal is missing! Someone must have taken him!"
"I'm sure he'll turn up eventually. My men have this entire place locked down. There's no way anyone could take him and leave unnoticed. I'm sure you just forgot to leave him in the crib, and he crawled out somewhere. I'll let my men know."
With that, the old man and his men leave the room. Who was that…? He said he had the entire place locked down… I should probably… avoid that guy…
"Hmm? The diaper drawer is open… I know I closed that earlier today…"
Oh, shit…! I'm fucked!
My heart pounds rapidly, and I feel droplets of sweat forming around my entire naked body. She reaches for the drawer but stops.
"Oh, no… I need to find Durrendal…! Durrendal?!"
She yells for my name as she turns around and runs out the door. I sigh. I think it's safe now? I throw my body up and down in the opposite direction until there is enough space to climb out. When I begin to close the drawer behind me, my grip on the drawer weakens. Huh…? They've grown weak again…
I raise my eyebrows. I see… so the cell count increase is not… permanent…? I close the drawer before turning around.
Hmm… What should I do now…?
SOLUTION
How to solve from Chapter 3: Get lucky.

How to solve from Chapter 4: In chapter 4, you died. But, what exactly led to the death? The mother panicked upon witnessing Durrendal's strange appearance. Namely, the augmented right arm that was nearly twice the size of the other arm and the muscles were defined. Okay, so... Mother sees abnormal body parts. She freaks out.
What next? Scary men come. You die. What else did you learn? Scary men thinks you're a demon(HINT HINT HINT HINT) Why? You don't know. What else did you learn? Well, you know that Durrendal can't undo his power. Now look at the choices.
'Do nothing' --> You stay in the crib. Scary men come. You die.
'Panic' --> You either stay in the crib or you run out and do stupid things. Does that sound like you are going to be sneaking around logically thinking things through? No. People find you. You die.
'Try to get out of the crib and get the fuck out' --> Like above. People find you. You die. From Chapter 1, you know that you are born to a wealthy noble family. You might infer that you live in a relatively large household/mansion like in most situations.
'Try to get out of the crib and hide' --> You avoid discovery. You may live. But other choices are definitely bad, so it is the only logical answer.
How to solve from Chapter 5: Everything applies from above... Now you learn from running away that the cell count increase is on a time limit. Combine that with the knowledge that you can't manually undo cell count increase. So how does this help?
'Do nothing' --> You sit still. Scary men still come. You die.
'Panic' --> You either sit still or run away and be discovered. You die
'Get out of the crib and hide' --> You get out and hide. You wait for time to pass for your body parts to return to normal. You live if you are not discovered.
Consider this your tutorial... I guess? I even gave a hint. From now on for only one correct choice... I'll write out the solution detailing HOW you could have deduced it when the correct answer is picked. Here's another hint. if you want to progress the story, then you have to think. If you have questions about what's going on in the world... then try to make choices that don't lead to death and possibly lead to situations where you might discover the answer. Sometimes it may be helpful to purposefully choose an obvious death trap to discover curious information.
No more hints from here on out. Good luck and have fun.
P.S. It takes a minute for me to set up the poll after posting the chapter.

Essentia Animus
Second Book of the Soul - Celesi Veil Trilogy When the living essence of three girls are put at risk, giving room for a second essence within themselves, even their hyper developed fantasy world might not be enough to contain their new found ambitions. Another story of another world, these three girls must adapt to their new essence, all while each is left to question if they are truly still even alive. While this story is a sequel of the previous story in the trillogy, it is also fully capable of standing alone in its own light, taking place in a distant corner of a Celese returning readers will be otherwise incapable of recognizing. However, the events of the story are a spoiler for the previous book, in case that matters to anyone. This story takes place over two centuries after the events of Vitae Memorandum, when Celese had developed into an advanced world, improved to a point that it is much like modern-day Earth while still using the gift instead of technology. The Aethyx languages are still present in this book, and even English still exists in the world after the events of the previous book, but are much less of a focus after the same closing events of the previous book. What is instead important is how the ending events of the previous book had resulted in the start of the Instrumentation Era, and exactly how the gift translates in a modern-day sense. While this book is still effectively a fantasy world of its own kind of magic, it isn’t the classical medieval scene that would be typical for such a story. The laws of science still do not exist in Celese, but that didn’t stop it from developing into something that looks similar enough. Earth itself still remains present on the other side of the veil, and its previous exposure continues to shape and advance Celese into the world it has become. This story contains scenes exibiting mania and similar dark themes, as it goes to great length to explore concepts of life and death. While the degree of such themes should not be considered to be as serious compared to matters such as actual horror, the psychological depth is still siginifcant enough to be potentially concerning for people sensitive to matters of this nature, such as any individuals with concerns questioning matters of suicide, mental harm, or a variety of emotional injuries. While none of these subjects actually occur in the story, readers who are currently troubled by such matters may find themselves considering old wounds if they are especially capable of empathy while reading, which could lead to furthered emotional or mental stress. Readers with a high capacity for empathy may find themselves troubled by concerns regarding any potential lack of mental/emotional control as well as considerations regarding the meaning of death. Readers who appreciate subtle dark themes in a story may instead find this to be an interesting twist of the same idea.
