《Elemental Online》Chapter 3

Level Up!
Acquired White fur gorilla tooth.
Finally, I’ve killed four of these by now. I look up at the virtual sky that at times looks much more amazing then the really one. The sun is slowly starting to set, letting the sky be bathed in orange beauty.
“Grrrr...”
I jump back to my hiding place out of panic. I look where the sound came from. It’s one of the gorillas, it’s fully awake now and stretching.
It looks around for a second then walks off, I wait a few more minutes for another gorilla to wake up. This one doesn’t look around it just walks in the same direction as the first one.
So if I had to guess, I think these creature must only be active at night. I slowly creep off before any of them can see me. Once I’m a safe away distance, I open up my status.
Name: NeonRace: Lesser HomunculusEvolve points 1/500Level: 2Title:Element: ???
Health(HP): 150Energy(EN): 150Money:1,100
Strength: 5Speed: 5Luck: 5
Intelligence: 5Wisdom: 5Vitality: 5Attribute Points: 10
Alright so because I’ve leveled up I also gained one evolve point I sure hope that there is a faster way of getting those because if not I’ll be level five hundred before I can evolve. I also got some Attribute points to spend.
Alright, so first priority should be health so I’ll place 3 points into vitality then I’ll place 2 into strength so I can increase my attack strength. Another 2 into speed. I spread the last 3 evenly around Luck, Intelligence and Wisdom.
When I was done, my new status looked like this:
Name: NeonRace: Lesser HomunculusEvolve points 1/500Level: 2Title:Element: ???
Health(HP): 180Energy(EN): 160Money:1,100
Strength: 7Speed: 7Luck: 6
Intelligence: 6Wisdom: 6Vitality: 8Attribute Points: 0
Alright, so now that’s done, I can go sell off the items I got from killing those Gorillas.
“System: Directions to the Beginner Village.”
A red arrow appear in front of me and points in the direction of the gate. It takes me only a few minutes to reach the gate, the arrow disappears.
I start walk towards the gate when a arrow made out of water hits the ground directly in front of me.
Out of the woods, steps the Nightingale that offered to team up with me. I hear people come out behind me. I look over my shoulder and see the two elves that spawned with the same time as me. Nor name sake, let’s call buzzcut: buzz and the mohawk will be called mo.
“Fancy meeting you here, we were just passing by and thought we would just say hi...”
Really? That’s why you shot your element at me.
“Well, it’s good seeing you again and I see that you have made a party with some good people so I will be going now...”

I go to walk forward past the Nightingale but before I can, a fire ball lands near my feet. I look back again and this time buzz’s hand is coated in flames.
“Sorry but you see, we’ve had some hard times hunting out here so could you help us out with some E-Currency?”
So far, only the Nightingale has done any of the talking that means she is probably the head of this little group so maybe if I can take her hostage, the other two will just back off.
“What if I don’t want to give you any E-Currency?”
“Then that would put us in a hard position… Then we will have to take it by force.”
The Nightingales hand becomes covered in blue clear water. I look over my shoulder and now Buzz and Mo have gotten closer and now Mo’s hand is swirling with wind around it.
So it looks like I will not be getting out of this without some injuries and by that, I mean I’m going to get PKed. Fine then, I’ll take one of you with me and I know who it is.
I lock my gaze onto the Nightingale and prepare my sword. I just have to put my sword into her head and it will be a fatal blow.
“Stop right there, the great Hero Damn has arrived!!!”
… Who?
A giant figure leaps down from the trees above us. It’s the demon that spawned with the rest of us... He’s carrying a big black and gold broad axe in his left hand.
“Hey, ain’t you the guy that spawned with us when we started?”
“Yes, I am also known as the hero Damn!”
“Hero? Ain’t players who are demons usually the worst criminals in Elemental Online?”
“You know, it’s rude to stereotype people mister Buzzy.”
“Who you calling Buzzy, you stupid horned hero?”
“These Horns are a sign of my almighty heroism!!”
How did this turn into an argument about looks.
“Stop!”
For some reason, everyone stops arguing just because the only female present spoke up. I suppose you could call it power of a beautiful female.
“Now demon, I don’t know who you are or why you're here but you have two options: join us and we’ll share this guy’s money evenly or stand with him and get PKed with him.”
“Hahaha! Who do you think I am? I’m the great hero of honor and justice, Damn!! I will always stand with the weak to protect them from the wicked so prepare yourselves for justice!!!”
I don’t know how I feel about being called weak but I do appreciate this guy backing me up.

“Do you really think you guys can beat us?”
The Demon named Damn’s eyes turn into an evil glare and his mouth turns into a big smile revealing rows of teeth as big as daggers. For a guy who says he’s a hero, he has a villain's face.
“I do.”
And with those words, the axe in his hand burst into flames making his whole look even more terrifying but I couldn't let that distract me. I brought my body low and into the springboard position just like I did with the Gorilla’s.
We entered a mexican stand off. They might of had numbers on their side but we had intimidation but that didn’t stop my fear. If this game had the function of sweating when nervous, there would be a fountain dripping off my face right now.
I just can’t die here... Respawns cost 1000 E-Currency and I need all the money I can get.
“Fine, we’ll leave for now... But remember this if we ever cross again, we will have your heads.”
The Nightingale walks back into the woods. Once she is gone from sight, Buzz and Mo do the same. Once I am completely sure they're gone, I place my sword back into my inventory then turn to Damn.
“Thanks for the help there.”
“Do not worry about it, I am the Hero Damn! It is my duty to always stand for justice!!”
“Well, okay... Once again, thanks for the help but I’ll be going now.”
I’m standing in the central coding world for Elemental Online. I look all around the virtual world that was created by the neural link to make it easier for our human brains to understand the coding world.
I look out into the pink sky and see hundreds of clouds made from the coding of Elemental online. I walk to the side of the bridge made from blue coding and look over the edge and see my reflection in the digital water.
My mind's avatar for the neural link is still a green armoured Samurai. If it was up to me, I would have chosen something else but the neural link looks deep inside my mind to see how I truly see myself and apparently, it's a green samurai.
Other people's avatars start appearing one by one by spirals of light. A big red gorilla covered in long strands of purple hair walks up to me.
“Don’t say anything...”
“I wasn’t going say anything but if I did, I would say something like that your avatar suits you perfectly, Jack: a big dumb gorilla with nothing but stupid looks on it’s face for emotions, just like you in real life.”
“Why am I friends with you?”
“We're friends because I am a great conversationalist ”
Jack moves over to the side of me and stares into the water. I think he is trying to make his gorilla hair look good on him... That’s not going to happen. More people start arriving.
“Alright everyone, time to get this underway.”
I look over at the person who is taking charge... It’s a small rabbit with a ninja sword on it’s back. It’s also wearing a blue pin on it’s chest that pin itself shows that he can take lead of us.
“Now everyone, follow me!”
He starts walking forward on the bridge. Nothing interesting happens until off the distance, I see the final firewall of Elemental Online.
The rabbit stops, he turns to address us all.
“Alright everyone, I won’t make you to follow me perfectly. You all know the dangers of being here so be careful to not get lost or die out here. Now let’s go.”
I know to most people who have never used a neural link computer would think that what the rabbit said might sound a bit weird but it’s actually quite common for people to give out this warning because unlike most virtual reality, neural linking is dangerous because it physically connects you brain to the computer through the neural cable.
That means that right now we are all in serious danger because if our avatars that represent our brains die in here then our bodies never get their full functions back and we become vegetables. Another worry is that we get lost in here meaning even if we are alive in here, we can never return to our actual bodies.
That’s why neural computers are banned from public usage and kept a secret from most people and companies.
“Now, Charge!!”
And that’s what everyone does except me, I was never much for running. I just walk casually and watch the others. Once I get close enough, I can see it a giant red worm it’s trying to smash through the firewall.
Everyone else has already surrounded it and has draws their weapons ready to exterminate the worm virus.
Our fearless rabbit leader charges ahead with his ninja blade drawn ready to slash apart the worm.
Just before the blade made contact, the big red worm burst into blue flames. The flesh quickly melted off the worm revealing a figure draped in a cloak of blue flames.
It was impossible to see anything past the flames but there was one thing I knew: we were all wrong…
This was never a simple worm virus, this was someone using a neural computer to hack into Elemental Online.

Raccoon's Treasure
People waking up is a part of the usual normal life. An uncountable number of people waking up with fuzzy memories and selective amnesia, only to be greeted with a status screen congratulating them for being a participant of a game? The new normal. Uncertainty follows the realization as the world around them, while looking the same, melts together with memories of what was once called fantasy. New surroundings and blurred borders await as we follow a young man along his path of survival and growth. In this new world power is quantified and upgradeable, traits get objectified and give out boons, while feats, some bigger, some smaller get rewarded. So how hard could it be to procure enough food and water? Genre, tags and content warning are subject to change. They were selected preemptively to cover certain bases for future chapters. I do not have a script only a premise and general outline I will follow along as I write. As this is my first try at writing I'd be overjoyed to get any kind of feedback. Crossposted on QQ

Ars Magica
Our vision comes back into focus. Our eyes, while being able to perceive the immediate surroundings, still leave us with our minds uncomprehending towards what is actually occurring. Sure, there are definitive things that we can focus on, like the fact that we're either out upon the open sea or the open ocean, there not being much of a difference with no land in sight, as well as the fact that we appear to be upon a haphazardly constructed metal boat, whose seams are barely able to keep a hold of themselves in the crashing waves. However, that does not let us understand what exactly is causing the waves in the first place. If we were to rewind time, we'd find ourselves upon a calm sea under a peaceful sky with the only difference, being a small whirlpool that would be the precursor towards this uproar around the boat. Lightning flashes in the sky, with no clouds being near, and anyone actually manning the boat has either died towards the cause of the smashing tides in the first place, or are fighting amongst the flashes of lightning, all while trying not to become devoured, demolished, and utterly decimated by the beast roiling in the whirling waves. To better understand exactly what is happening here, there is one singular event that needs to be understood, that needs to be explained, and that is the arrival of a creature named Dave. Stepping back from current events and going towards this creature's first appearance in the world, we begin to hear the sound of water slowly dripping across rocky ground. The cavern is utterly silent except for this one constant, its cause feeding channels downwards, sloping towards cracks in the rubble along the floor from broken stalagmites and stalactites. And there, lying on top of something which had fallen over recently, judging from its cracks, is a person, the creature named Dave. His form is fast asleep, either from the impact or from an intoxication, judging from the smell upon its breath. A bright light suffuses into it for a second, giving life towards the pale skin, before it slowly dies down back to the comfortable black of the cave that it's within. Before this moment in time, Dave did not exist in the physical world. At least, not in the reality that he finds himself born into. We do not know whether or not his existence is simply a cosmic joke, or something that is being played out on purpose. All that we do know, is that one moment, the body was not in the cave, and simply formed in the next. The actual earliest time that we know Dave exists, is the interpolation of the memories of J-209, which we'll begin looking into shortly to gain context towards the coming narrative that is being written and hastily trying to keep itself written. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Warning: This story has several things which might turn its readers away. The first is that this story has shifting points of perspective. Don't worry about that previous sentence too much though, as the main character will always have a first person perspective associated with them. However, any other character from which we're viewing the story from will either be in third-person, as we are not necessarily in their shoes at the moment, or in first person, given that the narrator is an actual physical presence within the story. For the most part, chapters will be self-contained with their perspectives, so there will not be an abundance of switching perspectives within the same chapter. The most that an average reader would have to worry about is the fact that perspectives can switch between chapters. The second thing is that the main character is a bit on the 'special' side of things. He's not exactly mentally there most of the time, so there will be some times that his personality or his thoughts do not actively align with his actions. The third, and final thing of importance, is the fact that past the first couple of chapters, nothing has been planned in advance. There are arcs and plots that I want to do, want to implement, or have already been set into motion from our main character's introduction to the world, but the method that I use for my story writing and generating leads towards a bit more random chance being enabled. Basically...there's a lot of dice rolling behind the scenes. To not complicate the story further than its regular LitRPG elements, the rolls will not be publicly available. However, there will be knowledge within the author's notes on whether or not there were positive or negative critical rolls that had occurred within the chapter. You have been warned. Updates: Mondays & Fridays (Schedule permitting) Typical Chapter Length: (2,000-3,000)
