《Who Cares!!?》Chapter 29

‘What is wrong? I do not sense anything wrong.’
Alex turned on the laptop.
‘I saw camera’s too good for this place on the way here, it might be Dr. Watson’s.’
Alex was right, as the monitor opened, it showed six men in high-tech gear rushing towards the door.
Suddenly the door was kicked down, and the moment the men entered the room, they opened fire.
‘Quick to the kitchen.’
All of the men carried automatic guns, each with a silencer on it. Although, it still produced noise, since it was still afternoon and the streets were full of noise, due to the construction site nearby, nobody took much notice.
The soldiers moved towards the kitchen. Alex and Jason took cover behind the table.
‘They’re coming. Do you have any guns?’
‘I have two handguns, but none of them have a silencer. If I fire them, the noise will be too loud, and someone from the public might notice.’
‘Then, we just have to improvise.’
The soldiers were about to go into the kitchen as one of them signaled the other to peek in to see if they have any weapon of some sort. As the soldiers peeked in, a raw potato came flying and hit his face with full force.
‘That one is going to leave a mark.’
Soon after, potatoes, onions, knives, and forks came flying out of the kitchen, which made surprisingly good ammo and even managed to drive them back a lot that two of them were even out of the apartment.
This change of fire continued for a bit, but then suddenly, it stopped from the kitchen. One of the soldiers thought that they had run out of ammo, but as soon as he stepped into the living room, two potatoes came flying, one hit in his face the other on his groin.

‘Any ideas, Jason? Because I am almost out of ammo.’
Jason was deeply thinking and said,
‘If only we had silencers, then we could have easily tackled them.’
An idea sparked into Alex’s mind.
‘Then we just have to make some, give me some time.’
Alex grabbed his last ammo, which was the two soda cans and a knife, and started to work.
Basically, when a gun fires a bullet, scorching hot gases are emitted with the shot, and these gases react with the atmosphere and create a loud sound. A suppressor simply gives time for the hot gases to cool down.
Using that simple principle, Alex quickly drank both of the soda can and the carved one side of the gun’s mouth into it. After some slight adjustment and modification, the Soda silencer came into existence.
‘Done’
‘What are these?’
‘Soda silencers.’
‘Do you think this kind of cheap toy will work?’
‘I’ll make them work.’
Since the entire mouth of the gun was covered, there was no way to aim.
As no more potatoes or knives, etc. were being thrown out, the soldiers started moving in. The soldiers arrived in the living room.
Alex aimed purely on an idea, he took aim and felt something rising inside of him, he fired but burped at the same time, causing him to mess up his target.
The noise was the same as those of the automatic gun, which was more than enough, and it one of them on the thigh.
‘Let’s go, Jason’
Ale gave Jason the signal and rushed out of the kitchen. Jason followed suit.
Alex and Jason both fired their guns and managed to take out 3 of 6 soldiers. The remaining retreated back outside of the apartment. Alex was going to rush out.

‘You have done well, Alex’
The voice made Alex stop as Dr. Watson arrived at the foot of the door.
‘Watson!!’
Alex took aim at his legs, but one of the soldiers threw a smoke grenade. The shot missed.
‘I do not like uninvited guests in my home, so please get out.’
Something else was quietly rolled in the already smoke-filled room. One of them touched Jason’s feet, and he instantly realized what it was.
‘Alex!! Get out it’s a grenade.’
They both made a run for it. Alex tried to grab some of the test tubes and ran to the kitchen. Heavy fire was opened, and a bullet hit Alex on the shoulder, making him drop the test tubes.
They crashed the window as Jason maneuvered himself down. Alex simply jumped out moments before the explosion. Everything in the apartment was destroyed, and the men inside the apartment died.
--Is he even human?
Jason was infuriated by the fact Dr. Watson sacrificed his men so quickly.
‘He will not be coming here anymore too. The incident will probably be regarded as a gas explosion. I will try to find his location until then recover yourself, Alex’
‘What do you mean by recover?’
‘You were shot in the shoulder.’
‘Oh that, it’s already healed. Look’
Alex moved his arm with ease. Alex’s healing abilities were much more impressive then Jason thought.
‘I see. Well, today’s mission is over, but I wish it could have gone better.’
‘Why? Even if we couldn’t manage to grab anything you did manage to take pictures’
‘The pictures are not of much value. It only showed chemicals and equipment inside the apartment, not what are they for, and they are willing to destroy them instead of letting us know.’
According to Jason, this mission was a failure. Something he was not used to, and it was showing in his face.
‘Don’t worry, Jason. We will get them next time.’
