Remembering the last time the screens appeared, Grey did not say anything and did not move. After about a minute of struggling to read the flashing blue text, he decided to try a different approach as a distant memory started to surface. He decided to try and will the screens into his mind and absorb the information.
Upon trying to absorb the screens, Grey's mind filled with the information of this status screen, his titles, and abilities. [It's just like the games Dad and I used to play and the books I’ve read.]
Giddy excitement began to replace the usual numb feeling within Grey as he came to this realization. He jumped in excitement as possibilities filled his mind. Or at least he tried to, before falling face first into a fluffy, powdery white surface.
Looking back in confusion he lets out a light laugh as he realizes that he is in an egg. [I was actually reincarnated as a bird, I can finally truly be free, fly and truly explore this new world even before my wishes. I should thank that grape looking, fella, next time we meet.]

By literally using his head and newly acquired beak he broke out of the shell that imprisoned his body and stood up to look around. He saw a clear ocean that sparkled in the sunlight and the pearl white sand like substance that covers every available surface. Tall mounds made from the pearly sand encased the beach making a bay.
He also saw penguins. Lots and lots of penguins. [Wait a minute. Penguins can't fly.] In a panic Grey looks at his species on his status page.

Grey lets out a long sigh as the familiar numbness returns, then suddenly a faint spark of excitement is born. [ If this is like the books I have read and the games I used to play with dad, then I should be able to grow stronger and eventually be able to evolve into something that can fly. Now let's think. I don't know how long this trial will last but the Grape guy appeared to have a loose concept of time so I should treat this like my new life.
The stats and attributes are fairly self-explanatory. If I want to become stronger I should be trying to raise my stats naturally without relying on the stat points. This way when it becomes harder to raise my stats naturally I can still grow stronger. To be able to fly I should focus on agility and dexterity but I also want to take into account my survivability...]
Before Grey could prioritize his objectives and come up with a suitable way to increase the stats of a penguin. A large chinstrap penguin waddles up to him and shoves its peak into his own and regurgitates its meal into his open gullet.
