《Tales Of Narcinica》V1 Chapter 2 - The Monster in the Kingdom

Josiah was taking a walk through the bar. There he was, Noah. He looked tired as if he was not having a great day. Josiah knew when it had been a bad day. He easily could catch on to an unhappy tone. Josiah saw that he was drunk and quick to anger so he quietly strolled along casually and stopped to talk to Noah.
"How are you doing, Noah?" He said bracing himself for a long conversation.
"Gre-at huh?" He said stumbling over his words. He looked as if he was drunk and he was.
"You are a horrib- prson, ya kno-." There it was another one of those stupid comments that Noah would regret saying later.
"Looks like you are drunk." Josiah said in a rhetorical tone.
"I ain't'nt you is!" Noah said in a progressively mad voice. His gibberish did not make it better.
Josiah backed off so he did not anger Noah. He had done it before and it was not pretty. He started wondering if he should even have Noah as a king. He just hoped that if Noah became king he would not do idiotic things such as this. He obviously knew however when times get tough he would always go to the bar. It was obviously a bad habit and I recommend you never do like Noah did.
Just then a lady by the pen name "Shadow" walked over to check on the men.
"How ya' boys doing, care for another drink or some oysters? Ya' know we are known for our oysters!" She exclaimed. Shadow was the owner of a bar called the Oyster Bar that sold oysters ironically. She was considered very loyal and was a loved and powerful citizen. She carried on with her question.
"So would ya?" She asked

"No than-."
Just then a noise. Not just any noise. It was the noise of the Terminian Giants.
They were a ferocious group of people who indulged in The Gladiators. They made the Terminian Gladiators and loved the "process of elimination." They looked very human like with uneven muscular arms and almost paper thin legs. They were extremely loud and obnoxious they had a dark twisted sense of humor and usually demanded for anything. The only person they would listen to was their king. The king was also a twisted and terrible person but he was the core of all the terrible acts the Terminians did. He was very biased and extremely unfair even to Terminians. Even though the circumstances the Terminians still went by his law.
One giant by the name of Jackson came down and blew off some of the bar in one swoosh. The Terminians were often involving themselves in Solitude. They were jealous that Solitude had such a unique cultural influence on Narcinica. They hated that they never were involved in anything but their stupid war tactics that were not even theirs. They tried to imitate the Solitudians. Though they tried it often led to conflict with the culture they stole the idea from. The terror they would do just to learn a simple trick that could be learned through ink. They would never change though. Not until the end of time.
There they were and there Josiah was running as fast as an old man could and he eventually caught up with everyone else as usual. They all started mumbling gibberish while at the same time trying to catch their breath.
"Shadow, are you- uh, here? is everyone else he- re." Caleb mumbled.
"What are we to do?!" Caleb said without an answer.
" I don- quite kn- ow!" Josiah shouted out.
"I have an idea! The Powerhouse!" Shadow said frantically.
"Josiah, lets go to the Powerhouse..." Noah said.
"The Powerhouse?!" Caleb exclaimed. He could not believe those words. Wasn't that a last resort. If they went there that treasure of a building could be destroyed! But Noah repeated himself to make himself clear. He meant it. He said once again.
"Yes... The Powerhouse..."

The Gatekeeper
Quick Synopsis:This is the story of Reylor, a god-like existence who lost a great portion of his strength when accidentally sent from his “home” to another world. Making friends and learning to harness to power of magic, he maintains his commitment to his prior duty and proceeds to fight against corruption, both on a political front and against what is known as the shade.(Note, this story focuses on action and adventure, so politics are not in depth) This has been my first novel, which was primarilly inteded as a learning experience, and so it may be a bit rough in regards, but it should definitely be readable and it is a full story. I may make some adjustments to it later on, but there's no guarantee... anyhow, it's free to read, so give it a go! Also, feel free to check out my new website: aretornovels.wordpress.com

He isn't your classic 'White Knight' who will defeat the 'bad guys' and save the day. Your normal views of the way the world should work are not the same for him. Expect ruthlessness, backstabbing, lies, dishonorable actions, and so much more that makes this story realistic and great.Urban Fantasy: While modern technology exists, along with space crafts and other soft sci-fi tropes, they are not key elements, nor will they be gone over in high details. This story is primarily magic/fantasy.Soft Sci-Fi: Read above. This story is a revised version of the previous story I wrote here on Royal Road. It's been almost a year since I published it and have worked on fixing it to become a better story that I am proud of. Edited as of 30JUL2022
