《Playtime》chapter ten

I woke up wrapped up in the covers of the bed. I sit up and see a bandage on my arm. The pain wasn’t there, but then I see the syringe. Of course. I thought. They drugged me. I stand up, feeling the frigid feeling of the wooden floor beneath my bare feet. I stagger over, still feeling lightheaded. I tried to open it; wanting air, I felt like I was suffocating. I clutched the window before pounding. Panic struck me.
“Whoa, whoa.” A voice said catching my attention. “We don’t need you to break the window.” I step back as Seok-Jin opens the window, letting in the cold October air. I take in a breath and felt myself relax.
“So, are you a vampire too?” I ask feeling slightly confident. He chuckles.
“No. There are only two vampires in our group. Taehyung and Namjoon. I’m the Devil.” I tense up at the mention of what he was. He shook his head. “Not literally. I get called that since I’m the most violent and dark.” I cross my arms as he rubs my back.
“For a demon, you sure are friendly.” I say point of factly. He rolls his eyes.
“It’s for Yoongi’s sake.” he states, making me curious.
“Yoongi?” I start. He nods but before he could answer, a beam of bright light hit him. I gasp as I see Angelia appear. Her blond hair hung in her face as her luminescent eyes looked at me kindly.
“Why you little-”
“Ah, watch your language.” she says brushing herself off. “That’s the kind of language that will land you a place next to the devil.” I flinch as I look at Seok-Jin’s face. Emotionless, yet I caught a glimpse of hurt.

“Reality check, lighty.” he said before grabbing her. “I already work alongside with the devil.” She yelps in pain as he tightened his grip. I watched in horror as her wings begin to turn a night black. She tries to pull away, but only manages to hurt herself.
“Please,” I beg. “Don’t kill her.” Seok-Jin gives me a look that said he didn’t care. I look down. “Let me talk to her first.” Seok-Jin released her, and throws her toward me. I grab her and watch him leave with a slam from the door. I look at my angel friend with sympathy.
“Surprise…” she says weakly. I help her to the bed and lay her down, only to have her scream in pain. “It hurts!!” she screams. I hurry to help her to the floor. I felt a bit of annoyance at the fact that she couldn’t touch a single thing in this room.
“What are you doing here?” I ask tapping my foot. I was getting impatient, and frankly annoyed that she’d have to ruin the moment where I was about to get information. She weakly gets up and pats me on the shoulder.
“I came to give you advice.” I give her a blank look. What advice would I seriously need? Sure, I was trapped with seven servants of the Devil, but lately they had all given me my space and respect that I requested. Yoongi had been less violent, but the again, it was when he wasn’t drunk.
“What advice?” I finally asked, curious at what she had found out.
“How to kill Yoongi.” I gasp. A stab of jealousy, protectivness and anger swelled up inside of me. I couldn’t find the strength to kill him. His scarlet eyes had made a mark on me. I lost myself in his gaze; the gaze that started the whole thing. His cold exterior was what drew me to him. He was mysterious, and I was going to find out what he was hiding.

“No,” I say without thinking. “You aren’t killing Yoongi.” I couldn’t help but glare at her. Her angel exterior didn’t seem so innocent anymore. I shake my head. “Get out.” I turn my back to her. Hate. It filled my soul.
‘That’s right,’ yoongi’s voice echoed in my head. ‘Send her away’. I listened. I wanted to. I needed to. It was like I couldn’t live without his voice in my head.
“What?” she says stunned. “But-”
“I said leave!” I scream chucking a vase. “I don’t want your help anymore.”
“I’ll kill him myself then.” she says. That’s when I snapped. I grab her arm, hurting her. But right now, I didn’t care. I was too pissed to give a crap.
“You kill him, and I’ll kill you.” I say before turning away agian.
I heard rustling before an ‘ow’ and when I turned, I saw my only best friend leave. Yoongi was ruining my life. I sigh and look at the ground. I was about to call for Yoongi when a flashed me in the eyes. Rubbing them, I groan in annoyance as a seal floated in front of me.
Opening it, I silently curse.
“Great. The counsel.”

The Sea of Destiny
[Let me be straight with you. This is trash, like old dime store novel trash. Don't expect grandiose writing, anything profound, or much beyond being free of spelling errors. Like my profile says, it’s hopefully like a salty snack, decent and satisfying for people looking for this kind of thing (at least that's my hope). It is simple, weird, and most likely growing in ridiculousness as it rapidly escalates.] Michael just wants to get away after a rough breakup. He figures some time alone cruising on a sick jet ski will help clear his head. After a small series of mishaps he winds up as humanities last hope adrift at sea after nuclear devastation destroys the mainland. Will he be able to solve the mystery of the bowl of the ancients before nuclear winter freezes over his dwindling food supply? Who are these mysterious women he keeps meeting, and will he even care about the talents they bring to the table, or will he be too focused on how they keep ruining his carefully laid plans for survival at sea? Read this cheesy short story to see for yourself, and discover the true mystery behind the hand of fate.

The General Core {The Sphere}
The life cycle in the Sphere is on the brink of collapse because one of its elements, the Dungeons, have been exploited too much by the mortals. The group who created the Sphere already tried and failed with several modifications, because the original computer-like dungeon cores are too inflexible to handle changing approaches. So they try another type of solution – taking souls from other worlds to try to find a solution before the Sphere Cycle breaks down completely. The General was one of the best soldiers of his world, rising from the ranks of a private through Officer School to the highest command with honors. But when his world faced a zombie apocalypse, even that was not enough and he had to make the ultimate sacrifice. Now he is asked for a repeat performance of planning and controlling a dungeon and its spawns in a world that he knows nothing about… But what is the Sphere really? What is that [Xenotic conversion] he has to go through to even enter the Sphere? Something is really strange and he will have to find out what is going on to get to his promised rewards – whatever they will be. Being a soul in a dungeon core means that the General has better chances of finding hints to the truth about the sphere – a knowledge that would help him survive. And no, the sphere is NOT a virtual reality – the key to its secrets is the place where it was physically constructed (Author’s hint). This is a dungeon core story - but there are quite a number of things that I will do differently than common to those stories. 1) I will describe the floors when they are explored, NOT when they are build. Yes, that will mean it will take longer to get to those parts - but I think describing floors both when they are build and when they are explored destroys quite a lot of chances for suspense when adventurers enter the dungeon. After all, if you as the reader already know where the traps are, then you can't really be surprised when the surfacers encounter them. 2) How the world works (and how not) is an integral part of the story, so it will be explained I'm a world-builder first and the Sphere is NOT a regular world (as hinted in the synopsis above). Things will work differently than in your 08/15 default dungeon core stories - as the General and Gunny have already learned in the second arc (and more of that is already scheduled for the next weeks (July/Aug 2019) when the Sky Arrows continue to explore and evaluate that strange dungeon) If you don't like these premises, then I'm sure you'll find a lot of other Dungeon Core stories more to your liking. But if you are interested in more than "Dungeon builds another room and corridor in medieval earth" and are not afraid of a longer and slower story, then go on. I have two more stories in the Sphere, although they both have lower priority than this one: Shaleen the Wanderer (Adventurer, NSFW) (currently on hold after some chapters) Info's on the Sphere (System Docu and Short Stories) (irregular updates when needed) Current Status reports have been moved to a new discord server: https://discord.gg/EaHkXCfm9y

Moonblood
Five moons rise over Evanir, each in her own cycle, and each moon is also a god, one of five sisters. Many gods create spirit attendants and companions, brought forth fully-formed. Long ago, the moons worked together to create a lineage that are, instead, humans transformed by the mingling of blood. They intended them to be long-lived and to draw their strength directly from the light of the moon who chose each individual. The five sisters had different goals in mind – one wanted it to be a blessing for scholars and artists, to give them more time and fewer physical distractions; another wanted them to have an animal form, different for each, to keep them more in tune with nature so they could serve as guardians of the wilderness. There are drawbacks to their children having human lives and personalities before being chosen: not all share the goals of their divine mothers, and some choose to put their gifts to darker uses. Those carrying the blood of one woman, fleeing the corruption in search of a quiet life, take a different path. -=-=-=-=- Moonblood isn't so much a novel as a series of adventures of varying length. They involve a core group of people, which does grow over time. They take place in a fairly low-magic world, but despite that, our core cast are directly connected to the moons and have various abilities, including limited shapeshifting to a single individual animal form. As with all my work, unless gender, orientation, or other aspects of sexuality are explicitly stated, I suggest not making assumptions. Probably most significant, I think, is a major trans character who appears about 80K words in - no spoilers, just a note for those who care about that one way or the other.

Along for the Ride
Every child born on the continent of West Cartia is taught about the Great Goblin War but what the annals of history fail to mention is that the entirety of the conflict could be traced back to a group of four friends who stumbled into the currents of fate in search of a fantasy novel. This is the story of how a band of bookworms realized that when destiny pulled hard enough, struggling was futile; it was best to relax and go along for the ride. "A breezy, good time with all the trappings of high fantasy fun." - someone eventually (hopefully)
