《Regulating Miracles》(6-5) State of Panic

I was propped up against a tree in an otherwise empty field. The rain had me completely soaked, but I didn’t feel cold at all.
“You really are useless, aren’t you?”
I looked toward the voice and saw the back of Vier’s head. He was staring off into a distance that I could never reach.
“That’s not true. I’ve got my uses.” Was I making that excuse for him or for me?
“But how useful are you really? We shouldn’t be wasting time on someone who can’t pull their own weight.”
Kanon responded to me from the front seat of Oliver’s car while I tried to find a comfortable way to sit in the back. I couldn’t catch a good glimpse of her face in the rear view mirror.
“Useful enough. It’s not like I’m perfect, but I can get the job done.”
“But I need perfection from you Alec.”
The Chief was yelling at me from the sidelines as I took my position in the combat room. She wasn’t that far away, but I couldn’t make out the details of her face.
“That’s not possible from me, but I’ll do what I can.”
“Will you? Isn’t that just an excuse to not try at all?”
Even as he spoke, I couldn’t get a good view of Oliver. He kept turning down a new flight of stairs before I could catch up.
“Try or not, I’ll still get done what I have to.”
“And what exactly is that? I wouldn’t even notice if you were gone.”
Nora was talking to me from behind a stack of papers.
“Come on, that’s a bit harsh, don’t you think?”
“But it’s true, isn’t it? We know it’s your fault we’ll never see Ace again.”

I was in my parents’ house and my sisters were speaking in unison. They wouldn’t even turn around to look at me.
“I’m sorry. I’m, you’re right. It’s my fault. I couldn’t do anything.” How true was that really? It’s not like I could go back and check.
“You’ve already done enough by killing him.”
I couldn’t see the kind of expressions my parents were making when they said that. My father wouldn’t look away from a picture of Ace while my mother’s face was covered by a black veil she wore to the funeral.
“I know, but, isn’t there anything I can do to fix this?”
“Never. You killed me Alec. No matter what you do that will never change. How dare you think about having a future after you took mine away.”
Ace was being crushed by a large metal support beam. His face was completely covered in blood, but he was talking perfectly.
My body was still pulsing with energy after I had actualized my augmentation for the first time. I was so concerned with myself I couldn’t think of anything to do for Ace.
Reliving that experience caused me to sit up in a state of panic. I was covered in a cold sweat and needed a moment to collect myself.

Black Sky
Space... An endless expanse of darkness populated by countless specks of light. Around many of those specks of light planets orbit, just cosmic motes of dust, but on some motes, there is life. And life, not content to stay on those motes of dust, found a way to challenge the endless expanse, to leap through the void to find other specks of light. This is the story of Leonora Horn, aspiring Starfighter Pilot of the Solari Federation and her travels through the Black Sky. [This story is set in the same Universe as my story Scarlet but both can easily be read individually] [This story contains a female, bisexual protagonist.]

Ira’s Faithful
[On Hiatus due to health reasons] Synopsis: Fate has plans for everyone. There are many paths one can walk and many nodes one can unlock. Yet all mortal souls only start with one node. This has been the case for many years and while there are some records of people with more than one first node, these are as rare as wings on snails, roses made of air, or ropes made of dragon-hair. Elise Anker has two first nodes. She doesn't know why and the only one that could answer is an angry voice in her head. She hears it rarely and the voice is as helpful as a sword is effective against a Leviathan. She strives to become a mage, a knight or maybe something else entirely. The future is uncertain and unless she finds out what her nodes mean, she will never know what she wants to become. But her nodes won't unlock and the angry voice tells her that she needs to find a worthy foe to kill. Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, businesses, places, events, and incidents are either the products of the author’s imagination or used in a fictitious manner. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental. I am also not a professional author. This is simply a rough draft and therefore subject to change. Furthermore, this fiction is rather slow-paced for a rather long time. But compare it to a bundle of dynamite, you wouldn't want that to explode right in someone's face, would you? The Otherworldly Treasure Hunt
Vic, our protagonist is whisked away from the confines of his bedroom to the strange land of the Otherworld, by the whims of a mysterious being. All in the name of finding some cryptic 'Grand Treasure' except... he wasn't the only one kidnapped and nor are all of the inhabitants of the Otherworld paticularly friendly. So, while Vic has a lot of questions, we have to ask... Will he survive? Will he find some treasure? Will he really be able to get back home? ... Perhaps. =====Summary Over===== Yo, if you are reading this then (like me) you like to read pretty much anything, including some guy's random rambles. Well you could read this story if you want but what's the fun in that really? I'm pretty much writing this (my first) story on a whim so it is certainly not perfect nor is it likely to be good (but what do I know maybe I'm secretly talented). It also might have tons of tons of errors beacuse I'm dumb and sometimes it's just so boring to proof read and you just wanna send a chapter out y'know. Regardless, whether this story brings you the most euphoric delight or illicits the most intense abhorrence I wanna know what you think and how I can improve, reader person, especially if you read this far! ( please reveiw or something)
