《Sixth Finger》Chapter 20 | Questions

Gob didn’t budge an inch. The cage was open so what? Did this fool expected him to go out and get killed? Fritz was still smiling. There was some commotion in the chief's tent. Piper begun complaining loudly.
“Boss! Fritz is unreasonable like always..”
“Just don’t damage the merchandise! Otherwise I don’t care.”
“But to let him out!”
“No harm to the goblin. If he runs, you have to catch him without injuries, both to you and him.”
“But Boss!”
Piper continued to resist, yet Curan didn’t respond anymore. Gob was about to ignore them altogether, but than the fairy spoke in her soft squeaky voice.
“It was the female that made me lose the home. The female had the knife. Don’t they know?”
Sudden emotion made Gob get up. It was an impulse. He left the cage in an instant.
“It's all right Piper he doesn’t want to leave. The knife isn’t as important as I thought.. Oh!”
Fritz was turned back to the cage and so he got startled by the leaving goblin. Piper shouted something incomprehensible. Only Peter, silently followed Gob’s movement with his crossbow.
Gob was slowly moving forward to the dagger that started it all. This damned hunter's knife. He stood next to the tree. Focused on the knife.
Why did she run after him?
Fritz was taller than the goblin, and so the knife was a bit out of his reach.
Why she went after this monster of a man?
Gob reached for the knife with his right arm. Despite Peter’s efforts it was still in a bad shape. His shaking hand almost reached the dagger.
Why?
He stopped before grabbing the hilt. What was he doing? Why didn’t he run? He stood in place for sometime. Then he clenched his fist in anger. It was still shaking. He then remembered that not so long ago he was standing in a similar pose.

Everyone was looking at him. The fairy was especially focused on him, flying around his arm.
He was weak. After all big claims. he truly was. Not like a goblin. Not like a hob. He was weak inside. Trembling. Remembering the face of this monster. Destined to walk while something he feared was breathing right behind him. Was it his kin, the humans or his very own self-doubt, buried under all the equipment, skills and knowledge he so wanted to posses.
Fishcatcher.
He retracted his hand, never to touch this knife again. He didn't even attempt to pull it out. He looked back at Fritz. The man was still standing next to the cage. Waiting with curiosity. Gob scanned his surroundings and with his head lowered he finally made up his mind.
As Gob slowly walked back Fritz's enjoyment reached its peak.
“Too far for your broken arm? Why not ask nicely? I might...Ughfff!”
Gob waited for him to lower his guard and the moment he was passing next to him he planted his knee into man’s crotch. Squirming the human lowered to his knees. What did it mean to be strong? A mere goblin could beat a human, but it didn't make Gob stronger in any way. The knight was strong. Not like the hunter he saw when he was young. The knight was strong...
Gob ignored the shouts of the cook and looked straight at Peter. This strange silent man lowered his crossbow. He didn’t seem too surprised when Gob went back inside his cage. Meanwhile Fritz was getting furious. With tears in his eyes he approached the cage.
He violently pulled the cage door, wanting to drag the goblin outside, but the cage stood firm. He looked at the talking goblin. He was currently playing with something in his hands. After a few seconds the keychain landed outside the cage, right next to his feet. One key in particular was missing from the ring. Fritz was shocked.

Piper was coming, giant halberd in his hands, but Fritz stopped him in his tracks. He regained his composure and said.
“Do not harm the merchandise.”
After a short pause he added.
“Peter… If he leaves this fucking cage it’s on you.”
Peter was putting his crossbow away. As he heard the words, he suddenly smirked.
"Did he just... smiled?!"
Bandits looked at each other with shock. It was the first time either of them saw Peter smile.
The only one that didn’t care about the solemn man's development was Gob. He was trying to piece together every little feeling that he experienced since his dumb luck decided to enter the cave. He was trying to find the words to express all that and more.
Meanwhile a certain female head begun to roll once more.
“You should really go to my home. You have the key! You need to move and help me!”
Gob didn’t move. He knew many words now. He was even learning from the bandits as they spoke around themselves.
Why did she came after me?
His expression was stiff, but his mind was racing. There were so many words he already knew.
And not a one to express how he felt.

Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.

Magikind
Disclaimer: This is a low-fantasy, soft-sci-fi genre. In fact, it's a variety of genres, so don't be too put off by the tags Through several centuries of selective breeding, these beings, known as mages, have become part of the very foundations of society. However, some humans refused to change or adapt along with them. They believed in purity and refused to interbreed with magikind. Known as the manush, they were a rarity among society. Now, in the fifth millennia, the manush are thought to be extinct. With magikind ruling the world, a three-way war grips society between Eurasia, Afro-Australian Alliance and The Americas. In these uncertain times, a manush called Gin enters the Eurasian army. From there, our journey unfolds. A story of how mankind could realistically evolve while still pushing boundaries. PS. Possessive (Boy×boy) Mpreg (Discontinued)
Edit:Don't bother reading this book, because I'm not finishing it.I don't know if anyone is going to read this story. But if someone does read it then there is a few things I need to warn you about. There most likely have swearing, maybe have some sensitive subjects, and this story is a male×male. Also the book will most likely not have any sex scenes. (I took the story down for awhile)
