Amon generated a second sword for Jay, letting him dual-wield. She's probably activated some kind of skill that burns her life in return for power. This is serious.
Yep, as you like to say, you little devil!
Hey!
Jay stepped backwards, avoiding the invisible swing that only Mastermind had told him was coming. He stepped into the skill completely, pouring Note into it. This was no time to skimp. He started to rack up the hits, Mastermind predicting where and when she would strike and letting him counter. He didn't manage to break through her skin, but the Weakness did increase massively as he attacked.
Then the Weakness capped. Jay felt it, his skill suddenly stopping its increase. He still couldn't break through Impencrest's skin, however. He watched her keep attacking, not slowing in the slightest and not showing any signs of exhaustion. He latched a Hook of Thought into her, pulling himself in to attempt to push her over. It didn't work, not phasing Impencrest at all. Another hammer swing came down, and Jay had to admit it-they were evenly matched. He Summoned the Ocean and activated his Flowering Domain, having jellyfish, which died almost instantly after they appeared, pump poison into her, and summon flowers that did the same, quickly getting stomped on. Impencrest didn't slow. "Kid, my ability burns poisons out of me."
Jay increased the depth of Summon the Ocean by a lot, the water filling the room suddenly getting more pressurized. Impencrest winced, though her flames burned away the ocean near her, somehow generating air for her to breathe. Jay did something he'd done before.
He summoned a leviathan.
Instead of dying instantly this time, it locked onto Impencrest, whose eyes widened upon seeing an actual LEVIATHAN appear in the room they were fighting in. Granted, it was small, but it was a legendary beast.
The leviathan chomped down on Impencrest, crashing through the wall. It led directly to the ocean, though there was a barrier preventing water from getting it. The leviathan swam into the depths, quickly disappearing. Jay sighed. That had taken a while. He walked to the end of the room turned corridor, turning once more to find a door. He attempted to open it, but failed, finding it too hard to break. "Diamond?," Jay asked.
"Sure, sure."
The door got ripped into pieces, space tearing for a brief moment before returning to normal. Jay gulped. I don't recommend offending Diamond.
I agree.
He stepped into the room, finding the familiar root cage and Millie, who had her eyes closed. A portal opened next to Jay and he reached through to grab an object he had brought along for this specific occasion. He pulled a cup of tea through. Millie instantly rose, reaching through the bars to grab the tea.
Jay handed her the tea, watching her drink. "Finally! You took too long," Millie said accusatorily, poking a finger through the bars at Jay. "I'm never drinking coffee again," Millie continued, shuddering.
Jay nodded, Amon creating a sword. He attempted to saw through the roots, but failed. Amon shifted his blade to fire, and they didn't burn. He sighed. Mercury had been going really easy on him, for him to be able to cut through the roots during the first part of their fight. He stepped back and motioned Millie to one side of the cage, where she curled up. "Diamond?"

Part of the cage broke, Diamond exerting his power once more. "Yes, yes, asking me to do everything."
Millie rolled out of the cage, landing on the floor. She dusted herself off, getting up. "Who's Diamond?"
"He's the school's headmaster and leader of the Gemstone Council."
Millie's eyes widened. "Oh! Old man Ian!"
"Old man Ian?," Jay asked, confused.
"Yeah. Ian's the headmaster of the school."
"Diamond, is your name Ian?"
An exhausted voice replied from thin air. "No. My real name is confidential and I never told her what it was. She called me Ian because she couldn't pronounce Diamond as a child, and do you really expect Millie to stop doing anything she's decided to do?"
"Old man Ian!"
"Yes, darling?"
"Did you send Jay to get me out?"
"Yes."
"Why didn't you come yourself?"
"Jay needs experience fighting."
"Uh... I have no arguments I can make."
"Good."
Millie deflated. Jay sighed. "Diamond? Can you get us out?"
Without a response, portals appeared below their feet. Appearing back in the sky, Jay nodded at Diamond. Millie fell through another portal, no doubt returning to the school. Jay raised an eyebrow at Diamond. "You get to walk back to school. There are high-level monsters in the forest that I want you to fight."
Jay sighed. "Which direction do I go?"
Diamond pointed in an arbitrary direction. "Compass, please?," Jay asked, holding out a hand.
A compass fell through a portal, landing in his hand. Jay measured the direction. Slightly closer to north than northwest. Diamond made another portal which Jay walked through, ending up at the edge of the lake. He started jogging back to the school, his senses open for any monsters he may come across. The forest flitted away behind him as he ran. A lizard suddenly popped up in front of him, and Jay kicked it straight up, feeling the earthen power coming off of it. Immediately, he felt the monster weaken as he jumped, a Slicing-attuned Blade cutting straight through the monster's neck. It was at this point that he realized what his mistake was.
He hadn't used any of the experience he'd gotten from the fight against the Metallic Councilors. Grabbing it, he used it all, just barely getting the rest of his classes to level ten. He frowned for a moment. Shouldn't he be gaining stat points to use for each level he gained? He'd worried about it before, but had thought that he may have needed to gain the levels in all his classes, not just one. He swiftly received his answer.
You have gained three Stat Evolution Points! Use them to increase the rarity and power of one of your stats, each.

Scales using (New Hidden Stat unlocked: Leadership)
Your Amber Form class has unlocked a new ability: Refract
Refract:
Bend light, making yourself harder to hit.
Scales using Dexterity
Your classes have no other set levels, other than when you upgrade your classes, at which they will gain new skills.
Jay sat back against a tree, mentally grabbing his stat points. He quickly made his decisions. His soul stats were high, so they needed no increase. His hidden Constitution stat was definitely on the list, as were all of his mind stats. He quickly made his decision.
Your Constitution stat(Common) has evolved into Defense of Blood, Bone, and Flesh(Uncommon)
Your Perception stat(Common) has evolved into The Ever-Watching Eye(Uncommon)
Your Wisdom stat(Common) has evolved into Intuition(Uncommon)
Constitution would help keep him alive. Perception would let him see the things that were trying to kill him, and track enemies at ever-greater speeds. Wisdom would help him know what was going on at all times, as a stat that was more about his gut feeling than knowledge, which was the domain of intelligence.
He checked his stat sheet, opening the entire thing, which he hadn't done in quite a while.

Jay closed his status, standing. Time to move on. He started running, once again, fighting more lizards along the way. He analyzed one, and it appeared to be level forty, not enough to give him any amount of experience. In the distance, Jay suddenly heard fighting.
Approaching the sound, he found a short wooden wall, multiple lizards assaulting it. People stood atop the wall, jabbing them with spears, though it was evident they were losing. The lizards were taking no damage, and were launching rocks at a massive rate. Many connected, knocking the defenders off. Jay sped to help.
He was surprised by the difference his new stats made. The Ever-Watching Eye let him see everything in much more detail, not missing even the smallest detail. He couldn't feel the difference his Defense of Blood, Bone, and Flesh made, but he suspected that would come after being hit.
Finally, his Intuition was the biggest difference. He could 'feel' what he expected his opponents to do before they actually did it. Combined with Mastermind, it was a lot more effective, though Jay expected its effectiveness to taper off outside of combat after he fought high enough levelled foes, because the skill wouldn't be able to work at the speeds necessary. Intuition would be a lesser version of that which would be able to keep up.
He swiftly killed the lizards, a quick Ice-attuned Blade dealing with them without a hitch. He jumped over the wall, activating The Harsh, Lifegiving Sun, healing as many of the wounded as he could. Some were already dead, and so, outside his help, but he saved those he could, before waving and running through the village, jumping over the other wall before continuing his trip without even talking to the people in the village.
The trip continued to be uneventful, none of the monsters very high level, until he heard a young girl's cry echo through the woods.
Jay abruptly turned his path towards her. He wouldn't leave her to die. Soon, he reached a small clearing, the girl tied to a tree in the center. This is a trap.
I know. There's no way it isn't. I just have to fight my way out of it.
Jay stepped into the clearing, Amon creating a knife to cut through the girl's bonds. Oh yeah. I have a new ability now.
Huh?
A silver bow formed in his hand. I can create ranged weapons!
Jay smiled, pointing it into the woods, waiting for the trap to spring. Lots of people jumped out of the woods, and Jay immediately recognized them for what they were, wearing metal emblems. "Metallic Council? Here?"
"We're here for you, after you stole Millie. You're not getting away, not with the child."
"How'd you know I would come this way?"
"We saw you in the village."
The group roared, many of them activating skills. Jay noticed a glimmer in the village, of a crown. He groaned. Impencrest wasn't dead?
He watched her step into the ring, and then lock her eyes with the girl standing behind Jay. "Did that man take you, sis?," she asked, surprising Jay.
The girl peeked out from behind him. "No! He did! Bad man!," she shouted, pointing at one of the people in the ring surrounding Jay.
Impencrest's face darkened, and she pulled off her crown, stomping it under her foot. She looked at Jay, showing off a line of bite wounds in her shoulder. "Nice one, by the way."
She jumped into the ring to stand beside Jay. "I'm joining you, not just because you're protecting my sister, but also... because I admire your confidence. You stared death in the eye, certain you would live. In your eyes, I saw not just certainty in life, but also certainty that you were in the right. Count me as an ally."
Her warhammer appeared in her hands, dented but still functional. Jay loosed an arrow before replying, striking it right through the kidnapper's neck. "Gladly."
They smiled at each other, then started the slaughter.

Meek
After failing as an apprentice cooper and a town guard, Eli finds his place at the Rockbridge archives. Sure, he's the oldest 'junior scribe,' but he likes the job. And he's good at it, too. Then he completes an apparently-insignificant project, and the brutal reaction shocks him--with consequences that eventually shake the world. Eli gains powers. Rare and inhuman abilities. He progresses slowly, steadily, and not without setbacks. He changes, too. Is he a hero, a villain, a human, a monster? Depends who you ask. Meek is an epic fantasy with elements of progression. The basic magic is simple: five Paths, each with a different powerset. However, complexity arises from combinations, and the protagonist wields a magic all his own. Meek is set in the Valley, the only (as far as anyone knows) human empire that survived a Final Battle against a terrible foe. The Valley is warded against infiltration, but the enemy learned how to warp human souls, to foment discord within. However, another soul is also ... changed. Perhaps even 'warped.' And that soul is starting on a long (long, long) path that might, one day, prove that the Final Battle wasn't so final after all.
