Chapter 11, Zhou Huan's Adventure
~/``````````````````````````````/~
The smell of the market was the same as before.
Pungent scent of mandarins, burning coals, sweets and the scent of passing strangers.
While walking through the crowded area, there was this one particular stall that caught Tengfei's eye.
He was currently walking back to the inn with Lihua after going through that horrible experience.
As he looked upon the stall, he found a flower barrette (Hair Clip) on top a desk.
After looking at the Lihua who had a puzzled expression, he then walked up to the stall and asked as to how much it costed.
Lihua couldn't help but probe and ask "Your buying this for that pretty young lady right? This clearly shows that you want her" Her voice was strangely more quiet than usual."
The merchant rubbed his hands before saying, "4 coppers, nothing more and nothing less."
Tengfei nodded before handing the money from his pouch and grabbing hold on the barrette attached with a white flower on it.
He then walked away as Lihua follows beside him. There was this strange bitter feeling in Lihua currently as she looks at the beautiful hair clip.
Though the next thing that happened actually surprised her as Tengfei handed out the barrette to her.
As she holds on to it, she couldn't help but feel perplexed as she looks at his face.
His face had a tinge of red as he tries to look away.
"Consider this as a gift for saving me and taking care of me when I'm in pain... though its nothing of high value." Said Tengfei.
Lihua shook her head before showing a bright smile. She then wore the barrette which complimented her scarlet hair.
She hurried in front of Tengfei while having a teasing expression as she says. "You actually can act kind... and shy! Look at you! You can't even face me hehe!" She then started poking his cheeks and unlike last time Tengfei didn't stop her.
At this point they look like good friends.

In the forest near Teisu:
At this very moment, if you observe carefully you can find our dear Zhou Huan waiting for his prey inside a bush.
His spear is ready to thrust at any given moment as he observes a rare two headed golden sheep munching upon a dead rabbit.
Unlike the previous purple goat, this one had large horns with a majestic golden wool.
The spear couldn't stay still as Huan's hands couldn't help tremble a lot.
Knowing that this beast wasn't weak and had no injuries made sweat to appear in his back.
"What a-are you s-s-scared for Huan... It's nothing but a golden version from the before..." Muttered Huan to himself.
He then took a deep breath before slowly approaching the golden sheep.
Unlike before, immediately charging towards a beast, this time he decided to take the stealth option.

As he approaches the beast, he stepped on a twig...
His heart stopped for a moment. The beast turned to watch our foolish hungry Huan doing an awkward pose with his spear pointing towards it.
Both heads of the sheep has their horns glow with a bright yellow colour.
Huan felt an ominous feeling as he watches the brightness of the sheep intensify.
A large yellow electrical beam went towards him at a very fast speed but some how he dodged it.
He rolled and came out unscathed, his face had a grin due to him feeling proud of dodging.
Though all his thoughts were shattered when the other head of the goat shot another beam which this time landed on him.
This convulse and drop paralyzed on the ground as if was hit by a taser.
Huan couldn't move at all as he laid on ground and watch the demon sheep move towards him.
His heart started pumping faster as intense fear strike him. At least he could move his mouth and so he started shouting out loud "HELPPP!!!!!!!! HELLLLLLLPPPPPPPPP!!!! PLEASEE HEEELLLLP"
Surprisingly his voice was very loud... too loud.
He kept on shouting and shouting but the sheep was already near. Huan watched as the sheep opens both its mouth and was about to eat his face... but then blood spilled out.
His eyes were covered in the sheep's blood as he felt flabbergasted to what happened.
Though he still can't move his body, he pretty much heard someone sliced the sheep.
A deep relief was showed as he sighed out.
He can't help but say "Thank YOU!" To his benefactor.
After some time passed, he finally can move his body, it took some time but his body eventually returned back to what it used to feel like.
Surveying the dead beast in front of him, he noticed that both heads were cleanly sliced off. Having a joyous smile, he retrieved an axe from his back before searching for the beast cores inside the monster brains.
Every time he hacked the sheep's head, he almost felt like throwing up.
After it almost felt like a decade of hacking, he finally found both beast core from this rare demon sheep.
They're almost half the size of the previous cores he found and not only that, it has also a yellow color tone to it.
He smiled before placing them inside his bag that he recently bought with the money he earned from the inn.
'This wooly fur might sell for good amount also...' Huan thought.
He pulled out a knife and started tearing of the bloody golden wools from the sheep though it seems it would take lots of hard work to pull off.
Eventually though he finally grabbed all the wool and placed it inside his bag along with the beast core.
Before he moved back to the market, he looked around to see if he could find the person who helped him when he was in a tangle.

Though to no avail he couldn't find a single trace of that person.
He sighed before making his way to the market.

Market area
Huan gone to the same person who he sold the previous beast core to, the man was having a stall which had many beast core and also scrolls beside them.
The merchant knew that Huan was looking for him and so he exclaimed out "Fellow, you have returned and I should presume that you have more beast cores?"
Huan smiled before pulling out both yellow cores from his bag.
A single glance is all it took for the merchant to be laughing joyfully as he asks Huan "Impressive! You actually manage to retrieve a Thunder Impenetrable Sheep's core!"
He then grabbed hold on to both of the spheres before nodding twice. The merchant then retrieved a pouch and handed it to Huan.
"Inside that pouch contains 20 silvers and is something even a little more than the cost of this cores hahaha!" The merchant said before he continued observing.
Huan was already happy enough to get a hold of this fortune which is almost near a month of work in the inn!
As he was about to leave, he couldn't help but notice a lady in a hood beside him who was looking through the collection of cores.
His eyes wandered to survey the forbidden hills of that female and overall enticing body. The female gaze then landed on Zhou Huan which made her have a look at him that resembles eyeing an ant.
The lady's face was beautiful and didn't show much use of makeup. Though at the same time her eyes would send anyone the shivers.
She then uttered out "Do you have some business with me?"
Huan replied back coldly "No, but instead I have a question." His expression was completely different than the normal Huan as he purposely pretended to be someone who doesn't care much.
His eyes and expression showed a looks of normality while also telling the lady that he has already seen heaven shattering beautifies which is incomparable to her.... in his dreams that is.
The lady couldn't help but twitch as she raised her left eyebrow while thinking. 'This man who isn't even a cultivator is treating me as just some normal bystander or even less than that??'
She then replied back. "What is your question?" As she moves closer to him.
The closer she got, the faster Huan's heart started to raise but he couldn't show any sign of weakness as he said emotionlessly "I wonder if those cores I sold was worth that much only?"
Her eyes wondered to the cores the merchant was holding before saying. "Not one bit close to the amount he paid you. I believe it is both together worth about 70 silvers considering its once in a decade rarity and toughness to acquire an intact one due to the volatility of it."
The merchant's face paled when he heard as to what the lady said. He then looked at the furious Huan before saying "Ah... I'm so sorry sir... please don't blame this servant as this is the way of business around here." He then bowed as sweat start appearing on his forehead.
Zhou Huan couldn't believe he was almost scammed if it weren't for asking that lady. His mind was agitated to the thought of getting ripped off from an item that he worked hard and wholly deserved it.
He retrieved one of the sheep's core from the merchant before handing it to the lady beside him before saying. "Thank you for your advice and please keep this as a present."
The lady held upon the rare core which had the element lightning at the same time matches with her affinity. All she needs now is to find a capable inscription maker and the prescribed herbs or materials to make for her a new technique. Maybe even asking an alchemist to create a pill out of the core and increase her affinity towards lightning. She could even try her luck with a soul binding ring.
This fellow who was younger than him gave her something that is quite precious as if it was nothing even though knowing its price.
She moved away her hair which was covering her eye before handing out an emblem. "If you are capable of slaying a two starred beast without even awakening your mana door then come to the annual potential competition which will be held here in this town after two weeks. You can also bring a friend with you and make sure to show that emblem."
The lady then grab hold upon a scroll from the merchant's stall before handing to him. "This scroll contains the required training methods to have a strong foundation before starting to elemental cultivate which is worth 100 silvers. I guess with your pouch of twenty silver and this scroll is about worth the price of that one beast core."
When the lady was about to leave, an indifferent voice then resounded asking her name. She looked back and said "Li Meixiu"
Inside Huan he couldn't help but scream. 'She's too pretty... and she told me her name... I'm SUCH A LUCKY MAN!'
By absolutely doing nothing he somehow got to know a beauty, earn an expensive scroll and twenty silver!
It's as if he was as lucky as the MC in Battle th****h the h******* or any popular Wuxia in fact.

8 156A World With or Without Aliens
Nothing matters. It's not my opinion, it's a scientific fact. This is neither good nor bad, it just... is. I watched my entire country burn, fried on a patriotic pan after some jerk fired a bunch of nukes at the docile fleet of alien ships hovering over us. Who gave this moron such power? I don't know. Everyone involved is most likely dead by now. As for me, I can't die. I feel pain like a normal person would (I think), but no matter how terrible the conditions, I will never die or pass out. Fortunately, a lot of alien technology survived its crash to Earth, so I get to spend some time playing with it until Mr. Author gets bored and decides to screw up my life. Beware, this has a "harem" tag. If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm the main character and am therefore subject to this novel's timeline. While this bars me from the sweet ignorance of Chapter 1's me, it does have other perks... for example, I can tell you that heroine number one is personally responsible for kil-!? H-hey, back off! I'm your character, so if you didn't want me to be like this, then you should've written me differently! Randomguy here! In all seriousness, this novel is meant to explore the concept of nihilism as a post-apocalyptic/supernatural-scifi/satire told from a nihilistic introvert's first-person perspective. As you heard from my unsettled main character, each heroine is going to be a different type of horrifying socio/psychopath with dark motives and dangerous abilities (most of which are psychological). Why would I do something like this? Because I am, in reality, a nihilist who is often frustrated by weird things, like unrealistically dramatic stories, the industrialization of art (specifically music), and people who think swimming in brown creekwater for five hours is a "fun" activity. Don't get me wrong, neither me nor my character are depressed, we're just malcontents who make a lot of nerd references. I feel like the true essence of an "everything is worthless" perspective is lost on most pop-culture figures. The closest character I can think of at the moment is Rick from Rick and Morty, who is a drunk, angry nihilist that experienced tremendous loss. I, personally, find this belligerent state of mind to be very relatable, and have incorperated it into every chapter's introduction. Here, the main character talks directly to the reader (and me), shamelessly complaining about some semi-relevant facet of society, which probably doesn't make much sense... it's not really supposed to, though. These "angry nihilist" moments are just a peak into the main character's everyday existence, and also act as miniature rage-journals for me. It will sometimes take a subjectively 'positive' turn, but not very often. This is because reality isn't good or bad, "it just... is". I will eventually bring it full-circle to optimistic nihilism, since that seems to be a more practical way to live (and by "practical", I mean "doesn't create mental health issues"). It is, of course, a satire. I did this because most unnecessarily emotional moments or people usually make me feel kind of awkward, so I decided to mock them. That is, I plan to mock the characteristics about them I don't like in characters based solely off said characteristics. Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy my story!
