Eric draws his sword it's a long blade with a curve on the end, The handle is golden in the shapes of a tiger claw.I have to say his sword looks a lot more impressive than mine but that doesn't mean i'm going to back down at all.
"That's an interesting blade you've chosen there Kaito"
"Yeah i know it doesn't look all that impressive but it's real character come out in the fight"
"Good i look forward to it"
"BEGIN"
Eric charges at me with inhuman speed he swings at my head i block just in time with my sword he twists and tries for my head on the other side he keeps attacking me on different sides and aiming for different body parts while pushing me back inch by inch. Damn i need to counter attack now i activate my [Sword Mark] now i side step past this next attack and try to stab him in the ribs he jumps back in time to dodge my move but i don't give him a second to catch his breath i try stabbing at rapid fire at different places he dodges and blocks. Then he slashes the ground in an ark kicking up dirt i jump back and enter a defensive stance just incase.
Once the dirt has cleared i get a good look at Eric he is standing in a defensive stance with his sword close to his face our eyes meet and we both give off a slight smirk. This time i Charge at him just before i make contact i stop using my foot then bring my sword up in a massive swing he blocks but it send him flying. I'm not going to let him get any breath back i keep up the pressure of my attacks he always manages to block them but not for much longer i see his form slipping and his blocks getting weaker. Our swords clash once more but now we are stuck both of us pushing against each other not letting go. That's when he leans in close to my ear and whispered into it.
"I knew it you're a disciple of a sage as well."
Wait does this mean that Eric is a disciple of a one of the 12 Sages and if he was then what sage was he the disciple of. Suddenly Eric's sword starts to glow orange i knew what was coming a sword skill but what kind i had no idea. I quickly retreated and got into my defence stance. I could only watch as Eric's sword started to glow brighter and brighter the energy quickly builds up in the sword dammit i couldn't use any magic against him in this duel. Man if only master had taught me how to use the chi in my body so i could at least infuse it into my sword but no he said i would learn that later but i need it now.

His sword continued to glow brighter until it was completely glowing a bright orange. He brought his sword above his head and slashed down the energy burst forth like a tidal wave of incredible orange energy shaped in the form of the slash. Crap all i could do is try and pull as much energy as i could from the [Sword mark] the mark glowed brighter and brighter but then it turned a red color all by it self i felt the energy wash over my body but it didn't stop there it also start going into the sword soon my entire sword had a bright red glow around it i looked down and the words on the sword where even glowing but not as much as the blade end, that was glowing a very bright red colour then i heard a voice in my head it felt like i was suppose to say the words and before i knew it i was swinging my sword down and screaming the words out loud.
"Reaper crimson slash".
Our two slashes come in contact i expected there to be a fight a struggle between our two skills but there was only complete domination by my red power it moved like how people just walk through mist like nothing is even there it continued to cleave a path of destruction it came towards Eric at alarming speed but he didn't move he just stood there with a blank expression then the red slash smashed into his body but in the end his body exploded into smoke i was stunned what the fuck just happened did my slash do that did i turn him into nothing but smoke.
My questions were answered by the cold press of metal on my neck i turned my head to see what had happened and all i saw was Eric smiling at me i knew he had won he knew he had one the crowd even knew everyone knew.
"Impressed by my skills"
"I will give you credit with a sword you are quite formidable but let's see how you do once i get to use magic"
"Sorry but last time i checked i'm not a crazy person"
"Okay that seems like a fair statement, now get that sword away from my neck"
He takes the sword away from my neck and places it back onto the sheathe on his hip then stands next to me. The teacher walks up still with a pist off face i'm starting to think that's just how he looks normally but hey i try not to judge.
"Congratulations Eric you have won the little duel just because you handicapped your opponent but i will say this, in this classroom full of swords, in the heads of all trainees magic should not exist they should only rely on their blades but in the outside world there are no rules there is only the winner and the loser, the alive and the dead so use whatever means possible now take your seats since you two got the ball rolling we will be having an entire class duel day"

The angry looking teacher made the last part loud so that everyone could hear i think he was just using as a cheap method of teaching. Eric came and sat down near me i sat only a little far from Celeste so she couldn't hear our conversation i noticed that Eric's cronies were coming over he just held up his hand and they sat down like a bunch of little bitches.
Again Eric leaned in close to talk i knew what it was about.
"So you are a sages disciple correct"
"Yes i am, so which one are you trained under"
"The sage of Swordplay what about you"
"I'm the disciple of the Death sage"
"Wow i would have though the sage of Magic or something close to that"
"Hey can we get onto something a lot more important like how you even knew i was a sages disciple"
"Oh that was easy you survived my attacks nearly no one near our age group has been able to do that so you had to either be a member of a incredibly powerful family or the disciple of a sage and since you told Sylvia you're not apart of a major familie in only left me with one possibility"
"So you got that i was a disciple of one of the most powerful people ever because i blocked one of your attacks"
"Yep"
"Ok if that makes sense to you then i hope you are happy"
"So how did you and the sage of death meet"
"I was running around a forest naked and he found me said i had potential and started training me a couple of months ago"
"Well that's a lot weirder than my story. Mine is just ruther simple the sage of Swordplay was pretending to be a beggar i helped him out then he saw my swordsmanship and offered to help me i took him up on the offer and he's been teaching me since i was 14"
"So your sage has been training you since you were only 14 does that mean other people know that you're a sages disciple"
"No i have been keeping it a secret who know what kind of trouble it might cause if i reveal it so i just keep it my secret and i will keep your as well if you do the same"
"I'm in no position to say no am i"
"Fantastic from this day on we are brothers"
He put up his sleeve and revealed a golden bracelet like the one i wore he put it close to mine the red gems began to glow.
"Good now we can contact each other whenever we need to"
I didn't say anything mainly because i had nothing else to but also because i didn't yet trust him i looked him right in the eyes when he told me the story form what i could tell he wasn't lying but just because someone doesn't lye that doesn't make them a trustworthy person.
The duels continued to go on somewhere entertaining but others were just bore fests then the teacher called up Celeste she was shaking i don't know what it was from but the look on her face was not that of excitement i would have liked to go other there and give her some amazing words of encouragement but that's not me i'm the guy the runs around trying everything he can to just avoid sad girls all together because i am as reliable in those kind of situations as a thin tissue on a rainy day. She got out of her seat slowly and made her way to the platform slowly everything she did was slow her opponent was some slim kid, who liked to use to small swords. The teacher walked up and gave the same speech he gave us all then the fight was on i kept my eyes on Celeste i expected her to breakdown but her face just went cold and a steel glance emerged in her eyes.
Her opponent rushed at her but she didn't react until the last minute she slash down with her sword but it didn't make sense her opponent was about still 2 meters away that when the sword true power was shown it came undone and turned into a whip sword before our eyes it smashed into her opponent with little effort she kept up the attacks from afar it was over very quickly once she did this i was stunned like the rest of the class, who would have thought she had that kind of skill, but i guess i was being one of those people who judged the book by it's cover and how wrong was i behind that scared girl was an actual badass with a whip sword.
Hey just a little question do people like eric as a character or not just thought i'd ask for mild curiosity oh and for every one who doesn't know what a whip sword is just follow the link. See ya tomorrow

The Mentor
This one is for my daughter. She talked me into it (again) and it is her favorite genre of books. So, Bet, this one is for you. The true-bloods, the masters, they came first. That was hammered into Heath's head since he could walk with both words and fists by Karen. As a guardian and half-blood bastard of his vampire father, he would never know peace. His duty as a dhampir, his duty was clear, his fate sealed. Heath was to serve Gerald, an aging Vampire Lord, one who was of pure blood, born to the race, until Heath outlived his prime and then he would pass on the knowledge that was passed to him onto a new bastard to carry protecting the bloodline. But was it necessarily his fate? Could a sterile half breed such as himself, someone who did not exist in the human world, live anywhere in the world on the light? After a particularly nasty encounter with his Mentor, Heath is on the run. Set on not becoming the new guardian and knowing that decision has now marked him for death. The hunt is on and somewhere behind him is Joshua, the heir of his Master, and the thing that plagues his nightmare, his Mentor Karen.
