《Chaos Realm; A VRMMO Tale》3. Hero of La-Dalia

'A lost diamond ring? Must be worth a lot.' As Gene checked out the quest, she felt it could be feasible. There wasn't a reason why she should take the quest before finding the ring. Since it's a specific mission, she knew it wouldn't be one of those that couldn't be triggered without the quest. Taking the quest meant she would lose a quest slot and from how old the request was, there was a chance that the item was too hard to find.
'It doesn't say where she lost the ring! Looks like I'll be forced to pick the quest anyway.'
Gene grabbed the paper and walked over to the counter.
"You found one?" Receptionist asked. She had returned to being a slouch. Gene extended her quest, placing it on the table. Seeing the old paper, she ran her eyes through and crumbled it, throwing it into the bin.
"Thanks for bringing it up. I forgot to remove it. That old bone died a month ago." Her eyelids were barely staying afloat. "So which quests did you pick again?"
'[email protected]#@$...' Without a word Gene turned around back to the quest board. She skimmed through the board and took the five gathering quests that were the most recent and went back to the counter. The receptionist sealed the quest as ongoing and placed them in her folder before dropping back into her sleep with a "Good Luck."
Gene walked to the back gate. The town was in the middle of a tropical forest making it a heaven for herbalists. To Gene, this was one of the best possible outcomes. The quest should give her enough experience and decent money. It was easy to complete and the region was thickly packed with herbs.
Justling Seed x50

Violet Sprout Stem x50
Sour Custler x50
Dark Ginger Flower x10
Prickling Red Vine x5
The list was simple. The amount wasn't bad. All of them were very common herbs making the quest extremely easy as expected of a starting town.
Justling Seeds. Each herb had as many as ten seeds making them the easiest to collect. Violet sprouts grew as a herd and if you found the outgrowth, there would be at least a couple of thousands in the area. Sour Custler and Dark Ginger grew next to each other. Find one and get the other one free! The Red Vines were a little harder considering they grew on the trees. Climbing trees wasn't that hard so it was still fine. Overall, the gathering was done within half an hour and she returned to the reception to hand over the quest.
The sleepy woman took the herbs one by one and threw them into the bin. The same trash bin that still held the old treasure hunt quest.
Her rewards weren't bad. The experience gained was massive considering her level. The money gained… Well, let's leave it at that.
Thanks to the massive experience boost Gene received enough experience to reach level eight.
Skill Received: Arms Crossed(Super Rare)
Your haughtiness is irritating. The opponent wants you dead.
Skill type. : Single Target Provoke
Range. : 8m
'So I'm a peace monger who provokes the opponent to a fight? Who even designed these? I should be super useful in a group fight as a tank.'
Fourteen points to spend. Gene put everything to health making her the most insane level eight character ever.
'Two more levels and I can leave this stupid town.' Barely played for an hour and she was already pissed at the town. She took the same repeat quest to complete and was done with levelling as soon as she hit level ten.

"Good work. You will go to places…" yawn "...The caravan leaves for Olahal City in a few minutes." The receptionist grabbed a badge from behind the counter and handed it to Gene.
Badge of Honour (La-Dalia town)
A badge awarded for meritorious deeds.
Fame. :
10
"Why?" Gene was confused. Anyone would normally be. 'What did I do exactly?'
"The herbs you collected helped to save the life of one of our townsmen. You are a hero to our town." As the lady was speaking Gene could literally see her eyes roll making the situation more awkward.
'I saw you throwing the herbs into the trash bin.' Gene kept her thoughts to herself.
"So," the lady suddenly became serious. "I hope you are satisfied with our services!" That wasn't a question. It was a threat. Gene suddenly figured out why the badge, one that was only given once the reputation reached the max and hardest to get, was in her hands. It was a bribe!
With a smile, Gene said, "It was great. I'm lucky I came here." Gene was genuinely happy. Besides the badge, she also received a token that could be used as an entry ticket to Olahal City. And the woman was back on her counter sleeping.
Gene walked out quietly as she didn't want to wake her up. One should always treat their benefactors with respect.
The caravan wasn't empty. There were a few other players inside. She could tell they hated the place from how eager they were to leave. Caravan to the city always left at regular intervals. It was the cheapest way to travel in Chaos Realm.
'Two hours, level eleven. Not as bad as I expected.' The initial levels were easy to clear. The low experience requirement and her massive experience boost helped her fly through to level ten. The caravan slowly wobbled as it traversed through the dirt road to the closest city.
'The class is fine. But I'll have to figure out how to play the game from scratch.' She knew her days ahead were going to be tough. Looking at the badge in her inventory, her lips curved into a gentle smile.

When Plush comes to Shove
An: So the last synopsis wasn’t really all that good, it was just some mumbo jumbo with no actual point to it so I decided to make a new one that’s a bit more accurate. Leo Lush, just your average everyday (slightly chubby) schmuck, or at least he would be if he didn’t carry around a stuffed toy everywhere he went.I mean, he was a man who could read the atmosphere a bit so put it away in his bag whenever having a stuffed toy out would be rude but other than that he brought it with him all the time, it was a memento from his girlfriend who had died three years ago and keeping it close made him feel better. That’s also why his classmates gave him the nickname “Plush”, though that's neither here nor there. One day at the train station he’d lost his dearest stuffed toy, one of his classmates found it and lobbed it towards him, something that they’d already done many times before, but this time something went wrong and Leo found himself falling in front of the train due to the force of the throw. Now follow Leo as the spirit that developed in his stuffed toy and killed him forces his ghost into another world to possess a different stuffed toy. He doesn’t know much about the world or why he’s there but what he does know is that according to a magic book his girlfriend was also sent to this very world when she died in a plane accident three years ago. An: For those who want to know a bit more about what kind of story this will be: I want it to be a chill feel-good story and stay as far away from those despair-fest stories as possible (No offense to people who enjoy them, I’m just not one of you)Let me make something clear; I’m not writing this story with hope of it becoming really top tier among RRL (Though it did get above rank 500 once which I’m still very proud of even though it’s gone back down to ~850 at the time of writing this) I just want to write a story that I would enjoy reading, that’s why I’ll be mostly skipping over a lot of the parts that I skip when I read other stories, such as stats, the exact value of money and other such precise statistics that no one(as far as I’m aware) really cares about all that much. Just feels like a lot of effort for something superfluous. There’s a single exception and that’s one of the battles, it’s not a despair-fest or anything but it’s got a different feel than the rest of the story due to me being in a funky mood while I was writing it.

Immutable
There was a man, lets call him Jeremy. He was born so long ago, he cant accurately tell you what year it was, all he knows is that he met some Neanderthals at some point. Jeremy is still alive to this day, he cant seem to die. This is his story. This is my first attempt at a story. I'm not good at sentence structure and things.

The Ingress Estate
Jonathon Eucole. Soldier. Scholar. Now an Initiate, the dedication without dedication, he finds himself both prisoner and master of an arcane edifice, the Ingress Estate, which can neither be escaped, nor controlled; only diverted, maintained, and pacified. This is a gothic fantasy story, set in a world in which gods and the afterlife are not only real and known, but were both established in living memory of some of the inhabitants after millennia of arcane warfare with the being who constructed the mundane reality the humans occupy. But this isn't the story of those who colonized the afterlife at the cost of their own humanity, but a somewhat more ordinary man, in somewhat extraordinary circumstances. This is also a LitRPG-lite, which means there's a system of sorts, fragments of which can be observed through Jonathon's eyes. Don't expect level-up screens, or statistics, or indeed numbers much at all, beyond those the inhabitants of the world itself apply to understanding their own reality. It pretty much doesn't matter to the story, I mention it so those who don't want to read LitRPG at all can successfully avoid it here. I don't have any particular plan here, just some ideas inherent in the genre. This is a character concept I toyed with some years ago; an old man, bright of mind but weighed down into apathy, both by his past and his responsibilities for a terrible estate that cannot be left without stewardship. Don't expect any kind of overarching plot or story, because that's really not what this is about. Also don't expect much dialogue. Or character development. Or much of anything, really, because I've planned nothing in the way of an actual book, here. Other relevant information, if you've read this far for some reason: The MC isn't super-powerful to begin with, and probably never will be. He's a veteran with some useful skills, and the insight on how to use them, so can deal with the world's ordinary threats reasonably well, but not too much beyond that. --- Currently on hiatus, as currently the story has a rather poor ratio of effort-to-personal-payoff. I may return to this once I have a clear idea of how to get the stories where I want them. I've started a more standard LitRPG using the same system. But if you like intelligence characters who cleverly min-max their classes, it probably isn't the story for you; it's the story of a rather ordinary guy who winds up in a very similar universe.
