《Mutant Farmer in the Apocalypse》Ambushed by zombies!

"HRAARRGHH!"

"Oh fuck!" Yang Zhang jolted in fright as he saw the hordes of zombies hiding inside the empty houses suddenly rushing towards him. There were too many for Yang Zhang to keep track of their numbers.

"Squeak!" Chestnut was ready to lunge and attack one of the zombies that were closest to them. But Yang Zhang held the squirrel off.

"Don't attack! You cannot handle this many zombies!" Yang Zhang warned. He only had a second to react before the zombies caught him. When he looked around, he realized that he was already completely surrounded.

Frantically he looked over his shoulder and noticed the bronze cow statue behind him.

'That's my only escape!' Yang Zhang thought. He looked warily at the zombies. One was so close to him it almost got him when it grabbed at his face.

WHOMP!

Yang Zhang hit the zombie's head with his stick, but it wasn't strong enough to kill it, only causing it to stagger for a moment.

"Let's just escape!" Yang Zhang said to Chestnut, and the squirrel hurriedly nestled inside his jacket as he turned to run towards the bronze cow.

Behind the bronze cow, he could see that they were totally surrounded in all directions, "No fucking way, these zombies litterally ambushed us! How could mindless zombies manage to trap us like this!" Yang Zhang yelled out loud.

Climbing the bronze cow, he found himself trapped in the middle of the village square, with zombies coming at him in all directions. He lost count of how many zombies were around him, but he was totally dead meat right now.

Yang Zhang clenched his grip on the cow's head and warded off the zombies that started crawling up by smacking their heads with his stick.

Whomp!

Whomp!

Whomp!

"HRAAARGHH!"

But no matter how hard or how much he smacked them, none of them were injured. At most, they only staggered and fell, getting back up quickly and starting to climb all over again.

"Oh no, what should I do now…." Yang Zhang worriedly asked himself as he continued smacking the zombies. He was lucky it was at noon, so the zombies, though feral, weren't as strong as they would be at night.

But he couldn't do this forever. He was already starting to lose strength.

Looking around warily, he managed to find a tree quite far from his position but close enough for Little Ivy to reach with her vines.

The problem was…

"Little Ivy, can you hear me?" Yang Zhang asked gently as Little Ivy's body trembled in fear.

"Ivy, I really need your help right now…." Yang Zhang tried to control his emotions because he knew if he shouted at Ivy, it would scare her even more.

"Vii…" Little Ivy raised her leaf a bit and peeked at Yang Zhang.

Yang Zhang smiled and said, "Ignore the zombie's voice, okay? Look at that tree."

He deliberately raised his hand up high and opened his palm carefully. In this way, Little Ivy couldn't see the zombies below her, but she could see a tree not far from their location.

"Ivy, please help us! Just grab the tree branch with one vine!"

"Vii…" Little Ivy's small body trembled once she heard the zombies growling. She looked back at Yang Zhang, who was pleading with her.

"Please, help me, Ivy."

"Vii!" Little Ivy tried to muster some of her courage and then stretched one vine to grab the branch, ready to pull Yang Zhang anytime.

"Perfect. Remember, Little Ivy, do not look down, okay?" Yang Zhang warned because he knew if the little plant looked down and saw hordes of zombies, then it was over.

"Vii!"

Yang Zhang was about to tell Little Ivy to take him away, but for some unknown reason, Chestnut suddenly jumped out of his pocket. "Wait, Chestnut!"

"Squeak! Squeak!"

Yang Zhang was dumbstruck. What was in Chestnut's mind right now? They had no more time, and right now, the zombies were almost able to reach Yang Zhang's feet, close enough that he had resorted to poking them in the eyes and stomping on their faces.

"Chestnut! Let's go! We have no more time!"

"Squeak! Squeak!" Chestnut jumped and circled on the bronze cow's head, it seemed to be trying to tell Yang Zhang something, but the latter didn't really understand.

"What, what are you—Wha!"

Bzt!

Yang Zhang was surprised when his hand was suddenly zapped, even though Chestnut was quite far from him right now. Then he realized what the squirrel meant.

"This statue is made of bronze, and bronze is a good heat and electricity conductor—wait! Chestnut, do you want to use the statue to fight the Zombies?" Yang Zhang asked.

"Squeak!"

Yang Zhang placed his palm on the statue and realized it was also hot because of the sun. He realized now, too, that it was hot enough that it even burned the skin of the zombies that tried to climb up, although it wasn't enough to stop them.

But since he had Chestnut here…

"Chestnut, I've got an idea!" Yang Zhang said. He looked towards Ivy and instructed, "Little Ivy, give me one of your vines!"

"Vii!"

Little Ivy stretched one vine towards Yang Zhang, who threw it to Chestnut.

The vine automatically coiled around the squirrel, ensuring that Chestnut could be pulled to safety at any time.

"Okay, this is your idea, my friend! Follow my count, okay!"

"Squeak!"

Yang Zhang understood what Chestnut wanted to do. By using this bronze cow as a heat and electricity conductor, it could zap and presumably burn all of the nearby zombies.

"Okay, I'm going to countdown. When I say one, discharge as much electricity as you can!"

"Squeak!"

Yang Zhang knew he would be electrocuted to death if he stayed here, so he instructed Little Ivy as well, "Little Ivy, at the same time, you pull us to the tree, but don't pull the vine attached to Chestnut until I tell you, okay?"

"Vii!"

He didn't know whether his squirrel and the little plant understood his instructions, but it wouldn't hurt to try.

Chestnut started charging electricity inside its body, and Yang Zhang began the countdown, "COUNTING DOWN FROM THREE! THREE… TWO… ONE… NOW!"

Little Ivy quickly retracted the vine that was hooked onto the tree, forcibly pulling Yang Zhang's body to safety, but she stretched out more vine for Chestnut, so the squirrel could stay on the bronze cow statue.

As Yang Zhang swung on Ivy's vine to the tree, he shouted a command. "CHESTNUT, NOW!"
