《Fighting Spirit (MHA)》Chapter 5: Ominous Signs

As he walked towards the main entrance of UA, Katsuki was met with a crowd of reporters jostling around the entrance.
When he got closer, the mob suddenly surrounded him, making it impossible to reach the gate.
One woman in particular shoved a microphone into his face.
"Can you tell us what it's like to have All Might as a teacher?"
Katsuki took a deep breath to calm himself down before answering.
"He's a good teacher that teaches an engaging class. If you will excuse me, you're going to make me late for homeroom."
With some obvious grumbling, the crowd of reporters moved aside and let Katsuki pass.
As he was heading inside the building, Katsuki noted Mr.Aizawa moving towards the gate.
Stepping through the door to the classroom, Katsuki noted that Kirishima was already there. Spotting Katsuki, Kirishima smiled and walked over.
"Man, the press outside are nuts! They kept asking me questions about All Might."
Katsuki nodded in response, a scowl on his face.
"Same here. Fucking vultures. I guess it makes sense though. He isn't the number one for nothing after all."
Several of their other classmates walked over as Katsuki waited for class to start.
Finally, everyone sat in their seats just before the bell rang, not wanting a repeat of yesterday.
Aizawa walked in and stood at the front.
"I saw the videos and results of yesterdays heroics classes. Many of you performed well, with a couple exceptions."
Aizawa faced the midget, activating his quirk momentarily to punctuate his statement.
"Mineta, a training exercise is not the time to get distracted by your teammates or enemies. If it happens again, you're gone."
Mineta nodded his head like it was about to come off.
"That aside, lets get down to homeroom business. Sorry about the late notice but today I'll have you-"
Everyone tensed up.
"-Decide the class representative."
Then let out a sigh of relief at Aizawa's announcement.
Katsuki stayed quiet and in his seat as suddenly everyone in the class seemed to jump to their feet, clamoring for the position.
He knew that the position of class rep looked great on resumes, and that it was useful experience for the future, but he couldn't afford for it to cut into his training schedule.
Looking around the classroom, Katsuki decided that Momo seemed like the best fit for the position out of the people he knew.
Right when Katsuki was starting to get annoyed, the voice of the glasses kid spoke up from the side.
"Silence, please!"
Everyone turned to face him.
"This is a job with the serious responsibility of leading others. But ambition does not equate to ability!"
Iida adjusted his glasses.
"It requires the trust of those around you! As a classroom, I suggest we put together a vote for who is selected!"
Katsuki snorted as he noticed Iida's hand shaking in the air.
One of the girls spoke up.
"But we've only know each other for a short amount of time…"
Kirishima chimed in.
"Everyone will probably just vote for themselves."
Iida spoke up.
"That's exactly why those who have gathered multiple votes, will be the most suited individual for the job!"
Iida turned to Mr.Aizawa.
"Is this acceptable sensei!"
Aizawa was already getting into his sleeping bag.
"It's fine, just pick someone before class ends."
At that, Aizawa flopped over behind the podium.
Handing out small pieces of paper, The class all wrote down their votes for class prez.
A few minutes later after all the votes were counted, the winners made clear.

Almost everyone in the class had one or fewer votes, with two exceptions.
'Momo Yaoyorozu: 3 votes'
'Katsuki Bakugo: 2 votes'
Immediately after the counting was finished, Katsuki spoke up.
"I resign."
""Huuh!!!""
The class turned to face Katsuki as everyone clamored for the reason.
"Are you sure?"
"Why would you do that"
"It is an incredibly prestigious position!"
Finally Momo got everyone to quiet down.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. It would cut into my training schedule, and that needs to stay my number one priority."
Momo frowned for a moment, then nodded.
"Then I suppose we should vote in a new vice rep?"
"Nah we don't have time for that, just give it to glasses. At least he'll take it seriously."
Iida seemed to jolt in shock at the suggestion, at a loss for words.
Before he could respond, Aizawa stood up and slipped out of his bag.
"Alright, so your Rep is Yaoyorozu, and your vice-rep is Iida."
Iida stood up.
"I will endeavor to give this office all the respect it is du-"
His speech was cut off by the class bell.
As Iida slumped, everyone stood up for lunch.
After grabbing his food from Lunch Rush, Katsuki sat down at a mostly empty table.
After a minute, Sato and Kirishima sat down next to him.
"The way you turned down that position was so cool bro. Your commitment to your training schedule is amazing!"
Sato nodded along before chiming in himself.
"I've been thinking I need to exercise more as well. Where do you go for weight training?"
Katsuki's answer is cut off by a blaring alarm.
Then an announcement rings out.
'Level 3 security has been breached. All students, please evacuate outside promptly.'
For a moment everyone pauses to process, then students start to get up and rush for the doors.
Katsuki snags a student from beside him.
"Ey, what's a level 3 security breach?"
"It means someone managed to get onto the campus! That's never happened before while I've been here."
Unwilling to accept that response, Katsuki muscled his way over to the windows, pushing people aside as he went.
When he finally got to the window, Katsuki looked towards the entrance, only to see the mass of reporters from earlier on the campus.
'So it was just some fucking vultures?'
Forcing his way back towards the table, Katsuki noted the massive buildup of students bunching up near the door.
The morons were gonna hurt someone.
Climbing on top of the table, Katsuki took a deep breath and let er rip.
"CALM THE FUCK DOWN YA LEMMINGS!"
Everyone in the cafeteria paused and turned toward the shouting blonde on the table, momentarily silenced by the shout.
"It's just the press from this morning! Calm the fuck down before you hurt someone!"
With some amount of grumbling, everyone in the cafeteria stopped shoving each other.
Though Katsuki did note a few shooting him dirty looks.
Undaunted, Katsuki glared right back.
If they didn't want to get insulted, they shouldn't act like idiots.
After the trespassing media had finally been forced off-campus, the evacuated students all were told to return to their afternoon classes.
After they had all sat down for afternoon classes as normal, Katsuki had to wonder what on earth had driven the press to trespass on a hero school.
'And how the fuck did they manage to get past that massive wall.'
The rest of the day was fairly standard.
Finally at the end of the day, Katsuki showed Sato and Kirishima where the gym was.

"Holy shit dude, this place is amazing."
"Yeah, it's really cool."
Just as he finished showing them around, he heard a familiar voice from the entrance.
"I guess you beat me here today Kohai! And you brought friends!"
Katsuki turned towards her…And realized she'd changed up her workout clothes today into something more comfortable.
Ignoring the sound of his classmates choking, Katsuki cleared his throat.
"These are my classmates, Kirishima and Sato."
The duo weakly waved, still staring at Nejire.
Katsuki gave each of them a smack to get them to focus again.
Walking over to Nejire, Katsuki did some stretches.
"So, what today then?"
Nejire smiled back as she met his eyes, a teasing glint in her gaze.
"Still feeling at 100%? Darn, I thought I wore you out yesterday."
Katsuki heard the sound of choking from behind him.
Katsuki snorted.
"As if, bring it on senpai! I can take anything you can dish out."
Nejire smiled widely.
"Great to hear it Kohai! Lets go!"
[Sato POV]
"They're monsters."
Sato could only nod in response to Kirishima's statement as they watched Katsuki and the bombshell senpai working through an insane workout routine that he would never even consider.
The two of them just kept egging each other on to do more and more insane stunts.
Kirishima put a hand on Sato's shoulder.
"Seeing all this manly exercise fires me up bro! Lets do our best!"
Kirishima looked around.
Sato took one last look over at the training partners, then nodded.
An hour later, gasping for breath, Sato resolved that he was never going to try and keep up with those two again. He could barely feel his legs!
The next morning Katsuki was feeling fired up.
Yesterday's training had gone great.
Heading into the classroom, he saw that Sato and Kirishima still seemed a bit sore.
Shrugging it off, Katsuki sat in his chair for the day.
Katsuki was still sitting when Mina started asking Kirishima why he seemed so sore.
"Yesterday Katsuki showed me and Sato the on-campus gym."
A couple of the other students seemed to perk up at that, paying more attention to the conversation.
"Still, was the workout that hard?"
"Oh yeah, me and Sato wore ourselves out trying to keep up with Katsuki and senpai."
Grinning like a fox Mina leaned in.
"Senpai~? Who were they?"
Kirishima thought back.
"I think she said her name was Nejire Hado? Her and Katsuki were really going at it!"
Mina quickly pulled out her phone, typing some stuff in.
A minute later, she let out a girlish squee.
Rushing over to Katsuki, Mina showed her phone.
"You mean that you're workout partners with the two-time runner up of the UA beauty pageant?!"
Katsuki glanced at the screen, seeing an image of Nejire posing in a tiger themed dress on stage.
Looking back to Mina, Katsuki shrugged.
"She's a good training partner. She clearly does a lot of stamina training."
Mina developed a smirk.
"Stamina training huh~?"
Before Mina could continue her questioning or Katsuki could respond, the grape head rushed over and stared at the screen, seeming to freeze for a moment.
Then he turned to Katsuki.
"How the hell did you manage to land that hot piece within the first few days?!"
Katsuki frowned at that.
"She's in excellent physical shape and clearly puts in a lot of fucking effort."
Mina backpedaled at that, still keeping a smile on her face.
"Woah, didn't mean it that way Bakugo. Just drawing attention to how attractive she is."
Mineta on the other hand seemed like he wanted to just keep digging, pointing an accusatory finger at Katsuki.
"I get it now! You're working out so hard in the gym even after you got into UA so you can spend time at the gym with muscle girls!"
Katsuki's frown had now moved into a full on glower.
This fucking shithead!
Katsuki stood up and loomed over the accusing grapehead, advancing on him.
"Listen here you fucking hairball, I've been working out on my own since I was fucking 8 after no one else could keep up with me or wanted to even try.
I wasn't allowed to sign up for quirk training centers due to my 'condition', so UA equipment is giving me the first proper workout I've had in years.
I've bled and sweat to get this far. I've heard insults and 'helpful advice' from almost everyone. So don't you fucking dare insult our effort."
At this point Katsuki had advanced far enough Mineta was almost leaning against the opposite desk.
The silence following his rant was broken by a cough from the entrance to the classroom.
Katsuki looked up to see the entire class plus Aizawa looking at him.
Aizawa was the first to speak up.
"Please sit down Bakugo. You're wasting class time. That's the height of irrationality."
Katsuki straightened up and sat down at his desk, facing the front and ignoring the stares directed towards him by his classmates.
During lunch, Katsuki was sitting together with Sato and Kirishima, both of whom seemed to be struggling to figure out how to bring up Katsuki's rant that morning.
Then Katsuki heard someone sit down beside him.
Looking over, Katsuki found himself faced with one of the girls from class. One with green hair and large eyes. She placed one of her fingers to her lips.
"I generally say what's on my mind Katsuki."
She turned to face him.
"Growing up quirkless must suck."
Katsuki leveled her with a stare as he kept eating, noticing Kirishima and Sato doing something out of the corner of his eye. Finally he responded.
"No shit."
Tsuyu took a bite of her lunch.
"Now that we've stated the obvious, can we talk like normal people without all the glaring?"
Katsuki turned back to his food.
"Sure."
Kirishima and Sato looked on dumbfounded.
The rest of lunch went fairly peacefully, with Tsuyu occasionally asking him questions about his training and how he fought.
It was pretty relaxing to have someone who always just said what they thought without any bullshit honestly.
When he got back to class, Katsuki noted that the concerned stares had noticeably lessened.
[Aizawa POV]
As he walked into the afternoon classroom, Aizawa noted that the atmosphere of the classroom had notably eased.
That and the other students weren't staring at Bakugo like he was about to explode.
Aizawa took a glance at his student. Bakugo looked more relaxed compared to the violin string of tension he had been all morning.
Clearly someone had talked to him at lunch.
If Katsuki was going to become a professional hero, he would need to be able to act rationally in the face of negative criticism.
UA had stuck their neck out for him this year, and so far he was proving them right.
The real test however would be the sports festival, when he was showing off for all of Japan and beyond to see.
That was when all the parasites would come out of the woodwork.
Aizawa just hoped Katsuki would be ready.
Because they would pull no punches.
[Momo POV]
Momo let out a sigh of relief as she saw Katsuki walking back into the class noticeably calmer.
She'd been worried about him after the outburst this morning, but was unsure how to broach the subject during lunch.
If she'd sat with him, would that have seemed like she was pitying him? Would he have been mad? She just had no idea how to even approach a situation like that.
In all honesty, she was rather relieved that Tsuyu had chosen to go over and talk to him.
After a tense beginning, things had calmed down considerably.
Focusing back on Mr.Aizawa, Momo quirked an eyebrow at the content of his speech.
Rescue training huh? Plays directly to her strengths.
Should be fairly straightforward.

Ph. D. In Sorcery
Follow Anastasia, the unlucky physicist turned wizard, as her reality gets turned upside down and she is plunged into a world of gods, magic, swords, and adventure. Short and sweet description, anything more would be a spoiler and I detest those. Now, what you can expect from reading: This is my first time writing, or better said allowing someone else to read that mess so don’t raise your expectations too much. Still, I will try to keep the story flowing, while also devoting as much time as I can to editing. In my opinion, the story is written at a faster pace than normal with time skips here and there. I will do my best to not allow the faster pace to ruin the story by using those time skips to raise the skill of the main character. I am mainly looking for feedback while I test myself in new and unexplored waters. I did put a lot of thought into worldbuilding and the magic system, it is something that has been mulling inside my head for years before I sat down to write anything down. First and foremost I am an engineer and not a writer. I will try to do my utmost to make the world logical and consistent, but sometimes I might not express that in a way that’s clearly understood. I have a rough outline with several possible endings, but the story will change and evolve as I do. But in case I have to stop for whatever reason, the story will get an ending. It will be done even if I have to send coded messages from a bunker. I am a big fan of the Dresden Files so you can be certain that everything mentioned will in most cases be used, with a few red herrings sprinkled in the mix. But that also means I will enjoy putting the main character through the meat grinder while I eat popcorn and laugh from my evil lair. Physics, and to be more precise electromagnetism, quantum field theory, general and special relativity are very interesting topics for me that I research in my spare time. That means that the premise of the story will be using that research to bring logic to magic. Stupid I know, magic is magic, but to me, there is no reason why there shouldn’t be a concrete set of rules there. But it is still magic and that allows me to play with some things that shouldn’t normally be possible. I will focus on evolving the main character and having her react as anyone normal would, from my perspective. There will be scenes of battle, gore, and sexy times, but I will not go into too many details, counting on your imagination to fill the gaps. There will be plenty of combat, even battles ranging from a few dozen, a hundred, and thousands of participants. I could go on but there isn’t much to say that would convince anyone to read, either you thought the title was cool or you liked the poster. Or not, but after several days in photoshop, that’s the best I could do. And the title was originally Sorceress with a Ph.D. The new one makes a little less sense but I like the ring of it more for some reason. I just hope someone enjoys what I write as much as I do. In the end that is the reason, I am doing this, because I enjoy putting my thoughts on paper and seeing the outcome. Credit for the art: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/e0o8nw
