《The Legend Of Drog》Chapter 3: Drog's Talent

Silence filled the air as every person held their breaths – waiting for Drog to place his hand on the stone. "Here it goes!" Drog thought; he confidently put his hand on the martial talent testing stone. Everyone stared at the platform – waiting for the elder's verdict. They were all curious whether Drog would be like most and be tested as E-rank talent or would he be graded as a B or even an A-rank talent – anticipation filled the air.
"No martial talent! Trash!" The elder announced in a loud clear voice.
Drog's pupils constricted; he subconsciously took a single step back and gulped down his saliva. "Failed?" He mumbled, his brain still not processing the word - 'Trash'.
This was the first time he heard this word spoken to him, this was the first time he failed. From birth until death Yun Xia had everything. He came from an elite family and had everything that he ever wanted from material to non-material things such as friends, a loving family, a beautiful girlfriend. He graduated the most prestigious academy; he attended a top class university with a scholarship. He always was at the top and never failed at anything.
The elder frowned when he saw that Drog stood in the same place and didn't descend the platform, "Get down from the platform, you trash!" The elder roared.
Drog absentmindedly looked at the elder. "I did not fail! I can not fail!" He mumbled.
The elder frowned, "You have failed! Now scram! You trash!"
Hearing the word 'trash' once again made him stagger back. Drog wanted to retort the elder but before he could jeers came from the crowd below.
"Get down, you trash!"
"Stop delaying!"
"Get the fu*k off and stop wasting our time!"
Big Sister Ri sighed and left the crowd silently. The three friends looked at each other. "That was obvious," Go said with a smile on his face. Ro and No nodded their heads – agreeing with their big brother. Drog's body shook and he shut his mouth; he turned around and descended the platform. Drog soon left the courtyard and walked with his head down until someone tugged his arm. Drog's turned his eyes and saw Big Sister Ri holding onto his arm.
"Big Sister Ri?" He stared at her with a blank expression.
"Drog are you okay?" She asked with concern in her voice.
"…" He stared at her not replying.
"Let's return, Drog." She gently said.
"Return? Return where?" Drog showed a confused expression.
"Let's return back to the village even if you can't cultivate you can still live. You can find a girl, get married, have kids. You can live a simple life."
Drog's left eye twitched; he thought "What did she say? She wants me to live a simple life? Without accomplishing anything? Just live? Me?!" He tugged his hand but realised that even when he tugged, he still couldn't get loose of her grip. "Let me go!" He shouted.

Her grip weakened and she looked shocked at Drog, "Drog... you...?"
"I need some time," Drog said.
Big Sister Ri sighed, "Alright. I will wait for you in the shop that we ate in. Don't take too long!" Big Sister Ri turned around and walked away.
Drog faced the opposite direction of where Big Sister Ri went and walked in that direction. With each step taken his steps hastened; in no time at all, he started running; as he sprinted a single word floated up in his mind over and over again, "Why?! Why?! Why?!" As he asked himself this question multiple times, tears formed in his eyes.
"Why am I running? Why am I crying?" Drog thought.
"Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!"
Drog ran and ran and after an unknown amount of time, he hit something which made him bounce off.
FA-THUD! He fell to the ground.
Drog opened his eyes and saw a figure dressed in black. The black-clothed figure looked at the fallen Drog, "You should be careful brat!"
"I am sorry." The man nodded his head and walked off into the distance. Drog shook his head and sighed. He didn't get up for a while, he just sat in one position for three breaths of time. The time soon passed and Drog breathed a large sigh as he managed to calm down quite a bit.
"I will not surrender, I said that I will become the strongest and I will. Who cares if I have no martial talent… For the time being, I should return to Big Sister Ri." He thought and tried to get up but before he could he felt his pinky touch something. Drog lowered his eyes and saw an object on the ground. Drog with his right hand picked up the object.
"A pendant?" Drog thought as he inspected the item.
The pendant had a strange design. On the back - a character for death was written while the front had a black jade implanted in it and around the jade a strange yet beautiful design was carved.
"This pendant is really beautiful, does this belong to that black-clothed man? He must have dropped it once I bumped into him. Since it was my fault he dropped it, I should return it," he thought.
Drog stood up and turned to the direction where the old man went. "I sat for quite some time, I hope I can catch up to him," he thought.
Drog without delay ran in the direction in search of the black-clothed man. He kept running but he could not find him; Drog searched until evening came. He thought, "It seems he is gone. I should return back to Big Sister Ri." Drog put on the pendant on his neck and returned back to the shop where his Big Sister Ri waited.
Seeing approaching Drog, Big Sister Ri came up to him, "Have you calmed down?"
Drog nodded, "I have calmed down, Big Sister Ri. I am sorry for shouting at you earlier." He bowed his head in apology.

She shook her head, "It's fine. Let's return back."
"Big sister Ri it's almost night, shouldn't we rest the night and return in the morning instead?"
She nodded, "You are right. Let's go rent a room."
"Yes, Big Sister Ri."
The two quickly found an inn and Big Sister Ri rented a single room with two beds. After the night's rest – they stepped out of the inn, "Let's return, Drog."
"Yes, Big Sister Ri."
Unlike the trip forward, Big Sister Ri didn't carry Drog on her back. They walked back to the village side by side and they only managed to return to the village – late in the evening.
When they came back to the village Drog saw three familiar faces enter his vision. These three were Go, Ro and No. They rushed over when they saw Big Sister Ri; Drog looked at the three not saying a single word. These kids did not interest him. As long as they wouldn't come to find trouble with him, he wouldn't find trouble with them.
Go turned his head from Big Sister Ri to Drog, "I saw you on the platform, Drog, You really are trash!"
Ro and No both nodded their head and added 'Yeah', 'Yeah'. They laughed after saying it.
Drog frowned and a glint of anger flashed through his eyes. When the elder called him trash – he was too shocked to show any reaction but now when he was called trash again – he felt anger. Drog now had a desire to teach this brat in front of him a lesson.
Big Sister Ri glared at the children who mocked Drog, "Apologize to Drog immediately." She said with anger both in her voice and on her face.
The children seeing her angry expression didn't dare to disobey her. They bowed their heads to Drog and mumbled, "I am sorry, Drog" The three didn't mean what they said. In their hearts, they wanted to teach a lesson to this trash.
"Good." Big Sister Ri smiled and nodded.
Drog saw the eyes of the three and knew exactly what those three were thinking as his thoughts were the same as theirs. Both sides wanted to teach one another a lesson. Drog glared at the three and thought, "We haven't started cultivating yet. Giving them a small lesson shouldn't be a problem. After all, I have practised martial arts in the modern world."
Big Sister Ri looked at the four children, "I will go start preparing dinner now. You four go and play together as this may be the last time you will spend time together. Go, when will the sect arrive to take you three?"
Go moved his eyes away from Drog, "In a weeks time the elder of the sword sect will arrive at the village and take us away."
Big Sister Ri nodded, "I see. You four play nice. The dinner will be ready soon." She disappeared into one the houses of the village.
"Drog, come to the usual spot" He smirked, "That is if you are man enough!"
"Let's go Ro, No!"
"Alright!"
"Yes, big brother!"
The three children disappeared into the distance. Drog smirked, "Time to teach you three a lesson!" He thought and walked after the three children.
Drog walked to the place where he first transmigrated. There he found the three kids as it was their usual hang out place. When Drog appeared before them they were surprised.
Go's face returned to normal; he smirked, "So the trash has arrived?"
The two by Go's side smirked.
Drog smirked back, "You may have been admitted to the sect, but let me ask you this, what makes you think that you can beat me up?"
The bullies looked at each other and they burst into laughter, "Did you forget how this went the last time we fight?" Go said.
"Let's do this!" Drog said.
He thought, "Time to show you, what modern martial arts can do." But when he took one step, he actually managed to trip over a rock and fall face flat on the ground. The three burst into laughter and rushed Drog – kicking him at full strength.
At this moment Drog experienced déjà vu as this happened to the previous Drog, he died from the series of kicks. Drog did the only thing he could do at the moment, he curled up into the ball as he tried to prevent them from hitting his vital areas.
After kicking him for entire three breaths of time – Go spat at Drog, "Don't even return to the village. You trash! If you come back, I will kill you!"
Drog rolled over to his back and he felt pain all over his body.
"Is Drog going to die again? What a funny life it was. Just after two days, I am dying again. I didn't even return the necklace to the old man." Drog thought.
Drog pulled the necklace out of his clothes and suddenly coughed out blood. The blood splattered onto the jade and the jade sparkled for a moment.
Drog's eyes widened as he saw the jade alternate between red and black. Not understanding what was happening, he held the pendant in his hand while staring at it. The alteration of two colours lasted for two breaths of time before stopping entirely. It stopped on the original black colour.
"It stopped? What was that anyway?" Drog thought.
"What is your name boy?" A voice resounded in his head. The voice was that of a woman. Drog furrowed his eyebrows but didn't reply back. Then the voice said louder than before, "I asked you for your name boy!" The voice said slightly irritated.

The Perks of Immortality
This story will no longer be updated. After living decades and dying hundreds of times, Kegan has learned that he has finally passed some test that the cruel spirit had given him. Now, Kegan has the ability to gain “perks” that can make his life much easier. He is looking forward to finally having an easy life with the new perks he has earned. Rules to keep me honest for the perk system: Spoiler: Spoiler 1. The purpose of perks is to help the MC live longer and do new things each life. 2. The perks can be unlocked by getting hurt or killed. 3. The perks can be unlocked by putting in a lot of effort that isn’t easily duplicated in a new life. 4. Perks are generally beneficial enhancements to the MC’s body. 5. Perk costs can be lowered with more impressive achievements to unlock them. 6. Perk costs can be lowered by repeated death or injury from something the perk protects against. 7. Perk costs are increased for quality of life improvements that don’t benefit survival. I want to avoid one of the pitfalls I see for other LitRPG stories where the game elements barely relate to the story, or offer very little information. If people are skipping over and not reading the perks then I'm doing things wrong. So I promise to try and make the perks interesting, sometimes humorous, informative, and relevant to the story.Cover art by http://dertypaws.com/

Naturally, it features very overpowered characters with a lot of high stakes battles roaming across the cosmos. Warning: Swearing, some suggestive sexual gestures/words, gore. Feedback is highly welcomed. (The story was originally named, God's Return, but I wanted to change it.)
