Chapter 61 · Empty

We sat for a little while my bed making a comfy seat. For a while, we sat there while the room stopped swaying and my stomach stopped trying to come back up.

"Didn't know you didn't like blood," Zoe said her voice shoving. She hadn't moved from next to me this whole time, rubbing my back.

"I haven't seen blood in a while but I didn't mind last time," I whispered.

"Oh, really when was that?" Zoe asked I guess trying to take my mind off of the blood or maybe she just wanted to know because she was, well, she was Zoe.

I tried to think back. I know I had seen blood before but I never nearly thrown up before but...

I can't remember. I just can't remember seeing blood before.

I looked down at my hands. I felt it like a tiny pain in the back of my head. From my hand to my wrist. I knew I had...

"Jade you still there," Zoe asked giving me a pat.

I gave a small nod now luckily not feeling quite so ill.

"Anyway does your uncle always just leave you to do your own thing," Zoe asked after a while.

"Yes, he's busy with work," I replied

"You don't mind?" Zoe asked

I looked up confused, " why would I mind?"

Her face seemed to twist weirdly before she leaned in and hugged me fully.

"You o... ok," I manned to sputter after she stopped and leaned back

"Yep, all good," Zoe said giving a little nod. We sat for a while just quietly in which time I had the chance to check over my room.

It was much like the rest of the house with a simple wooden door and a simple white wallpapers covered the brick walls. The light from the far window seemed to lazily lighten the room with the evenings' sunlight.

There wasn't too much else around apart from my almost empty drawer, my desk that held the few items of mine I hadn't taken with me and of course my bed.

The covers on my bed we're new, fresh and now a little wrinkled with both of us sitting on it. Pink pillows sat plumped on side closest the wall.

But that was it. I hadn't realized how dull and empty it had felt till now or maybe I just used to it being that way.

"Zoe," I whispered turning back to her.

"Yes?" She asked her voice tinged with interest.

"When we get back I want to paint my room," I explained.

"Sure, do you know what colour you want?" She asked her with a raised eyebrow.

"Something that not dull, I've had enough of dull things," I whispered back.

Zoe looked down at me and gave me a smile "we're find something magical then so it will never be dull."

Creek

The door slowly swung inwards as two people came in. One was Wick looking unsure and the other was... I couldn't remember her name but I reconsider her as one of the maids that work for my uncle. I don't think it was my fault that I had forgotten her because she looked so plain.

Like a cookie cut doll with no real defining features. Short cut brown hair with a slim form wrapped under a grey apron.

"Lady I found this man stand next too of your room. He says that he is a 'friend' of yours, do you wished him removed?" the maid placed toned voice asked.

"Removed. Now, wait a..." Wick started looking a bit shocked

"No it's ok, he's with me," I said half having to shout which hurt my throat a little causing me to give a tiny cough.

"Very well. Dinner will be soon," the maid said before she turned to leave however stopping at the last moment to turn back "would you like refreshments or something to smooth your throat lady Jade?"

I gave a nod before the maid turned back, closing the door behind her.
