Chapter 33 · Panic

I stood there. Alone in the hall. I couldn't move apart from the odd shiver. I felt the still unmoving air. I heard it. Quite at first but slowly, oh ever so slowly, with every second I waited it grew.

First, it sounded far, far away like a distant bell ring and ring with a terrible unearthly cry. Like a poison, it courses thrower me, sickening, feasting.

I tried to make it stop. I truly did but still, it steeple into me. I held my ears, I tried to ignore it, I begged for help but that had always been my greatest weakness I could never cry or scream. Only whisper and whimper.

Broken.

I fell. My legs giving way to my weakness. I heard the voice but the ringing drowned it out. Everlasting screams. Cold empty whispers.

Slowly. Slowly I breathed. In, out, again and again.

My eyes focused. The screams seemed to seep away. I fell cool air blow over me as I looked around.

I seemed to be in some kind of board room. Gray carpeted floors and slick white walls. I seemed to be sitting next to a large table which was surrounded by uncomfortable looking office chairs. Like normal office chairs but with even less back support.

"Oh thank God's," came a hurry male voice.

I looked over to see the same staff member from earlier red-faced a sweaty pouring a large glass of water and quickly striding over to me.

"Miss are you feeling quite alright, you 'cough' seemed to have some form of minor panic attack?" he asked seemed to scan me over beforehand the water to me.

I had what? I tried to remember what had just happened. I had been standing in the hallway before I felt like a wave of something had hit me. I looked around and down at myself.

I seemed fine. I mean I feel my heart racing but its been doing that a lot as of late. I could hardly remember that feeling anymore, the suffocating one I had felt just moments before. I didn't like it, that feeling. I want, no need, to think of something else.

I flicked my head back to the man "did Zoe say anything to you about me?" I asked as loud as I could try my hardest not to remember what had just happened.

"Miss are you sure you're ok you seemed to..." he started before I stopped him.

"I'm fine please I just want to know," I said. He looks at me and I took a long sip of the water to restore him. He seemed to calm a bit and took out a bit of cloth to wipe his brow.

"Very well, your acquaintance suggested that I show you the viewing room, oh, and she also said that she was sorry she left you she forgot," he explained

I felt better and worse after hearing that. I felt better than I somewhat had a goal now but at the same time a little sad. Had she forgotten about me just like everyone else seemed to or was it that it was just she didn't want me around her work?

No, it must just be that she was being forgetful. Maybe she was thinking about work. I mean it was Zoe she wouldn't leave me without a reason. She couldn't. I need her to remember me.

"Miss, if you feel well I would be more than grateful to show you are viewing rooms. There is an auction for some of them as well later if you are attending," he addressed me knocking me out of my whirlpool of ideas.

I nodded as he opens the door back into the hallway I had been in before. I stood up with only a tiny wobble and follow him out
