Chapter 23 · Ripley

Slowly Zoe went leaving me at the flat with Bane. I sat in the living room for a while. I didn't notice Bane had gone to her room till the door clicked shut leaving me to look out the window again. Slowly the sun rose and the sound of traffic grew heavier from the street below.

Slowly I felt myself go into a bit of a trance just try to accept all the noise and view that I so used to but had changed to something new. Or maybe that was just me that had changed.

It took about an hour for me to get bored and as I couldn't work out the stupid TV that had no buttons for some dumb reasons. I headed to my new room.

It was almost the same as Zoe's but smaller and with no bathroom or items apart from my small bag of clothes and laptop.

"Need to get a bed and draws. Maybe I could...," I muttered to myself sitting on the floor and reaching for my laptop. It slowly booted up to my desktop and opened my email. It didn't have much mail just some junk but for some weird reason, my junk folder is full of message. Odd this was my clean email I didn't use it for... other stuff.

I clicked it open. Goddamit. There must be at least fifty messages from my uncle. I hover over the newest one and clicked.

'Jade I know I maybe have been a bit harsh on you but please message me back. I called your landlord and he said you moved out. I'm sorry. I just want you to do the best you can please message me back soon. Please.

Your best uncle Ripley.'

The message had been sent an hour or so ago so I quickly wrote back.

'I'm fine. With a friend, Jade' I replied. I knew it was short but if I wrote much more then he would read way to much into it.

It only took a few minutes until I got a reply.

'I'm so happy your ok. Again I'm sorry about me freaking out about the uni. If you need some money for a hotel or for travel funds to come back if you need it.

I didn't know you had any friends that were that nice. You didn't tell me about a friend. Do they have a name? Do they live nearby? Are they dating anyone? How old are they?

Dam it. I knew I shouldn't have said anything about being with a friend. He was way too protective and paranoid. I bet he thinks Zoe's trying to get to know me to get to his money. I mean Zoe didn't even know much about him so there is no way she would be after me for money.

I had people try to date me for money in the past bit their always so grabby and never paid for anything. Zoe had helped me. For nothing. If anything I own her every penny I own. She did save my... saved me from me.

I sent back

'She's just a friend. If you could send money I have some stuff to sort out. No I can sort it myself.

I wasn't happy to lie to him but it was better then having him try and drag me back to his house. And putting she would hopefully put off his fear of me dating her.

'Ok. I will send some money now but come back soon. If you need to sort something I can do it for you but I will let you try for now.

See you soon and bring your friend.

He soon replayed. Hopefully, that will give me rent for a month but I will probable have to go see him soon. I almost need to ask him about what happed at the hospital in my dream. It didn't sit right with me.
