《End Boss》End Boss 41

Hordes upon hordes of undead dwarves assaulted an empty marketplace. A little girl swang her sword desperately a small cloud of sand brushed through the ranks of undead growing ever so slightly in size as it made its way though. An another dance through those same ranks. Disappearing and reappearing leaving only a wake of broken bones and decayed fleshed the places where he had step the only sign of his presence a mad fury of desperate blade strokes. Atop a floating did a woman stood taken pot shots at vantage points in the hope to flush out the one controlling these corpses. The one thing these three shared was the intensity of their desperation.
A man walked through the ranks of the hoards. His hands moving in a same form as one would paint with a brush. With quick and precise movements be dissected all that stood before or behind him. But the speed at which he moved was slow and steady. His eyes focused not on his enemy's before him but instead scanned the surroundings. He was locked deeply in thought yet he moved with a casual grace.
That was the best way to describe it. Regardless of the number they stood no chance against his in a one on one or a 10 on one and in these thin streets that was all the undead could muster. The man was aware that if the undead were to try they could easily become a problem for him. And yet they did not. He had a theory about that.
The ranks of undead themselves were weak. The bones brittle but he knew that their was most likely more to the situation at hand then what he could see. The man named Varon was curious. He could sense a stronger threat in the distance it seemed to be calling to him.

He turned to check up on his group.
Saharsa is barely fighting and she probably won’t unless she's put into a situation where she has no other choice. Adria looks tired but looks like she could go for a few hours when their at this level. She also appears to be bleeding from her lower back. A small cut but a cut nonetheless, it also means that that next cut will be easier to land. Raven is abusing his technique far too much. It is important that Raven learn his limits himself but that is a cause for concern. As for Varon he feels that he could kill everything here but would be very injured in the process. Even know his fingers feel numb and it's only a matter of time until something lands a hit.
The threat in the distance is obviously a trap someone has planted for him to spring. Varon feels that Adria and co probably won’t survive the night and he is not sure if he is currently at the stage were walking in traps on purpose will have any negative effects on him. He wants to jump at the trap very badly but fears that Raven and co will die if he was to do that.
So he has decided to… wait here for now. Ahh I hate choices sometimes.

What! What! What! Wa! Wa! Wa! Why? Why hasn’t he done anything except stand their and give pointers to the fucking human. Fuuuuuuck that totally undermines my plan. I had this epic area like place filled with interesting and unique undead for my lord to play with. Dammit I was gonna kill the weak ones while he was distracted damm it.
Then I was going to rain him in praise and LOVE! Until he only saw me.

Ok no it's fine. After all I don’t want him to die. JUST THOSE FUCK! Well he is not the type of person or thing that I can just pretend isn’t their or go easy on if I actually want to win so. I will… what can I do now… oh yes that will work wonders won’t it
*********
Varon watched as Adria swerve through the the ranks making use of her small size to attack weak points in the old decayed bones. She weaved with grace attacking the neat rank with force. In Adrias mind there was a line. A line that nothing was allowed to cross. Her movements were almost mechanical in nature. Like a ticking of a clock perfectly in sink with it self. Bang clash dash stab slash slash. Bang clash dash stab slash slash.
But then the rhythm was broken from an arrow that skimmed passed Adrias head. In sock Adria falls back making a opening in her defence. A sword is lunged at her neck but before the blade and make contact a rock collides with the blade shattering it. The rock passes straight through and hits the ground making a small explosion of dirt and dust which allows Adria the need time to focus and regain her clam mentality. She attaches quickly to the situation and before long builds a new rhythm.
To this Varon fells great displeasure. He callout “ Why do you follow the path that time has set before. The master of time much always walk forward. Forever forwards or time will pass you. Do not allow a the rhythm of time to form the actions you perform. Death is not a chore so do not treat the act of taking it as one. See what is before you even if it has shown itself before for just like you time will always move forward. It is never still so why are you. You must move forward and adapt to the now and forget that past of future only the now matters. But you need to remember to keep your now ahead of time.” Adria is confused and Varon decide to remember this a try to make some waves in training but denying her repeated dull stimulus like time or skedules for Adria to make use of. Ability and strength often all second to adaptability especially for Adria who has a martial arts that focuses on thriving in the long run.
Unlike Varons martial arts that is a physical strength based all purpose type Adria’s abilities and technique that will grant more advantages the longer the conflict is drawn out. It is understandable that she would be drawn to a rhythm type of fighting but rhythms can be exploited.
Adria has yet to understand the horror that Varon has given her. Any ideals or provenance. Any beliefs or choices Adria makes. She will someday come to know that they were meaningless. The end that Varon has given Adria s not a pointless one. But an forgotten one.
Well let’s leave that for another time.
I wonder how Raven is doing with the thing I asked him to do.

The Essence of Cultivation
After experiencing five years of an adventurer's life, Arcanist Sylar Wershin now spends his days catching up on developments in Essence Studies and teasing apart the functions of arcane trinkets and artifacts discovered by him and his companions throughout their time travelling the realms of Resham. An unexpected accident during the study of his latest subject of intrigue, however, displaces him across the Planes beyond what any known spell is capable of achieving. Now finding himself lost in a realm rich in previously-limited Transcendental Essences, however, does he truly even want to return back to his old world? If nothing else, plagiarising - ahem, learning new spell structures by observing the local mages should prove entertaining. Sure, there were new dangers in this foreign world, but they wouldn't be anything a fancy bit of spellwork couldn't solve. Though, he would appreciate it greatly if someone could explain to him just what this 'cultivation' business was, why the local Mages were all muscle-brained freaks obsessed with immortality, and why they all seemed to lack any appreciation for the finer details of Essence manipulation. That would be nice.
