Chapter 5: Fiancee?

Lucas woke up, he looked at the window but it is still dark.

“Hmm… It is still dark out maybe I’ll just try to absorb the books God gave me.” Lucas said then he waved his hands and four books appeared.

‘Wind, Lightning, Dark, and Light Element Techniques?! So God has something to do with the elements I got?’ Lucas thought but he put it aside for now and began to examine the books.

“So I have to absorb this to learn the contents but I don’t know how to—?!” Lucas said but he thought of something.

‘Should I try the same procedure like the one at the door?’ Lucas pondered then he quickly held the book in his right hand and he concentrated.

After a few seconds, the book glowed dimly and he felt a strong surge of energy coming from the book, flowing to his body and then going to his brain.

“A—amazing! So much information!” Lucas exclaimed then after the surge of energy was gone the book he held was now also gone.

“I thank God that he told me to absorb precious books, who knows if someone knew that I have this kind of books then they will not hesitate to hunt me down.” Lucas felt thankful that God said that he should absorb it by soul. Then he quickly got another book and began to absorb it using soul power.

However, in a world where darkness rules , there stood a big castle with an eerie aura. Inside it was a throne with a lady seated leisurely.

“Vargas!” the lady called.

“Yes my queen?” a man came out of nowhere.

“Is everything ready?” (???)

“Not yet my queen, the warp device is almost done but after it’s completion, we can go first to the nearest planet, there we can do more research to greatly improve the range that our device reaches.” (Vargas)

“Uhm, Good.” (???)

“….And my queen I have gathered information about the nearest world, it is called Elex and it seems that the highest rank of soul that I can detect were just a mere 5 stars at practitioner level! We can conquer that planet easily!” (Vargas)

“Hahaha! Then prepare our soldiers and tell them we will conquer a planet after the device is done, we don’t need to worry about them, what can they do to us if we are in the Master rank.” (???)

“Yes my queen, then I will go now, I will alert you if something else happens.” The man said and then he vanished.

“I hope I can find green soul gems in that world so that I can rank up fast to Saint rank.” (???)

After Lucas finished absorbing the books, he got up and he took a bath. After that he wore another set clothes from the interspatial ring.

He looked at the mirror and there he saw that the black-colored long sleeves with white-colored edges and a black pants looks good on him.

“Okay… not bad I guess.” Lucas said while putting again the pair of boots and gloves from his previous clothes.

Then he noticed that on his shoulder the previous 1 black star was now 3 black stars.

“Oh damn! Did I just ranked up?!” Lucas said excitedly but he quickly remember that yesterday he was only 1 star so it is unusual to rank up two levels in one night and people will get suspicious.

“I should try hiding or suppressing my rank using soul power.” Lucas said then he sat and concentrated. After a while the previous 3 stars disappeared and it returned to 1 star.

“Whew! Much better!” Lucas stretched then he waved his hand and a map of Aegis Academy appeared.

“I guess I will just walk around first before I go to my class.” Lucas said then he left the room.

After examining the map he went first to the cafeteria and ordered some food then he found an empty table and he sat down. He was in the middle of eating then a girl suddenly walk towards him.

“Are you a new student?” asked the girl.

Lucas looked up and he almost spat out his food, infront of him is a girl with 5’3 height with small horns attached to her head, long golden hair, fair skin, small breasts and wearing a black and white dress fitting her small body.

“Ahh— yes, I am also new student.” Lucas gulped.

“Good then! I am also a new student here, by the way I am Lillian Celes, you can call me Lily” The girl happily replied.

“Ahh— I am Lucas Helios, just call me Lucas, Lily.” Lucas said.

“Nice to meet you then Lucas… Mind if I ask questions? How old are you and why did you go here?” (Lily)

“I am 17 years old and I went here because I want to get stronger and do some adventure.” (Lucas)

“Ohh so you are older than me… I think I should just call you onii-chan from now on.” Lily smiled.

“Wha— no way!” Lucas said.

“But why?” Lily asked.

“Because I don’t want to.” Lucas said.

“Is that so? *sniff*.” Lily is almost going to cry.

“Ahhrgg!! Ok fine, so please don’t cry.” Lucas felt guilty.

“Yay! I now have an onii-chan!” Lily said happily.

“Ahem… So how old are you and why do you go here?” Lucas interrupted Lily and asked.

“I am 14 years old and I went here because I want to learn how to fight and more importantly I don’t want to get engage with some ridiculous person.” Lily said unhappily.

“Ahh ok I understand.” Lucas said because If he were to engage with the person you don’t like then his life would be miserable.

He chatted with Lily and he began to grow closer with his so-called little sister. He also found out that they have the same classes so Lily was very happy because everyday she can be with her onii-chan.

After they finished chatting, they now went to their classes. Their first class is Elemental Training, it is just controlling the element you possess but in the later stages they will begin to use magic spells but Lucas already knew how to use spells because of the books he absorbed so this class was boring for him but he did enjoy watching Lily use her magic. He found out that she is a dual element with fire and earth.

After the class, they now went to the Armament Training. This training were held in a dome-like building with stages for duel and training. This piqued the interest of Lucas because he want to know what are his Armaments look like.

Lucas and Lily chatted for a while then the instructor came. He was a 4 star practitioner and he was a tall man with a blue robe. After examining the students he then spoke.

“My name is Lawrence and I am your instructor in Armament Training. Now let me explain a bit. We have a Soul Ranking system, each rank is divided by 9 levels and the ranks are the following from weakest to strongest:

Practitioner – Black (color of stars or badge and also for soul gems)

Master - Brown

Saint - Green

Demi God - Blue

GOD - Yellow

OverGod - Gold

Divine God - Red

“I am currently at the 4th level of practitioner rank because it is exceedingly hard to rank up. You need soul gems of the same rank or higher to rank up. For example: I am a 4th level at practitioner rank so I need Black-colored soul gems or Brown-colored soul gems to level up but it is needed to have many and soul gems are hard to find. But there is another way, you have to kill another armament user and absorb his soul but this method is forbidden so I want none of you to kill each other and we will know if something like this happened, understood?” Lawrence asked in a cold voice.

“Yes, sir!” all of the students said then Lawrence told the student to exercise for 30 minutes and then they will resume the lesson.

The students now went with their groups and they began to exercise. Lucas and Lily were together chatting while having exercise but was interrupted by a draconian boy with silver hair and blue eyes.

“Hey Lily, why did you leave me and study here alone?” asked the draconian boy.

“Hmph! It is none of your business Jack Lixer.” Lily said coldly.

“What is with that cold reply, remember that I am your fiancée.” (Jack)

“I didn’t agree so you have no right to call me your fiancée….” Lily said coldly then turned to Lucas and said, “Hey onii-chan let us go somewhere else, I am disturbed with someone I don’t know.”. Lucas only nodded. When they were about to move they were stopped by Jack.

“So you dump me for this person but he is only a 1 star and I am a 2 star!” He pointed towards Lucas.

“So what if I did?” Lily said.

“You!!” (Jack)

“Hey you what is your name?!” (Jack)

“Me? I am Lucas.” (Lucas)

“Just you wait Lucas!” Jack said then he left.

“Whew, thank you onii-chan and sorry about that.” Lily apologetically said.

“It is okay but who is that guy?” Lucas asked.

“He is the one who am I supposed to engage with.” Lily said sadly.

“Ahhh…. Looks like you got a hard time there Lily.” Lucas said then he patted her head.

Lily was startled but she didn’t stop him and she only giggled softly.

After a few minutes the instructor came back.

“Okay, everyone I will now teach you how to manifest your armaments and then you will engage in sparring matches.” Lawrence said.

All of the students were excited but a certain student was grinning devilishly.

“Hehehe, now you will pay Lucas.” Jack muttered to himself.
