《Stardust》Chapter 3.18 - White - My Own Space

It all changes when the clock strikes at midnight. Who would have thought that waiting was the only way capable enough to end the problem that we have been trying to solve for the past six months. For one, I couldn’t believe that. I mean, why would we consider to wait for something to happen when nothing seems to be happening at all. That sounded stupid. It's bad writing for one thing. But when you think of it later down the line, you’ll realise that patience is virtue. That’s goes the same for me. Someone who was once powerless. I mean, I kind of cheated my way earlier this year by obtaining that time stopping ability. Now I finally got what I'm supposed to acquire.
I still remember it like it was yesterday. You see, I have a family. A family of eight people including both my mother and father. I was the fourth child out of six siblings and it was during the time when I was just about to become seven years old. Before I was seven, I have not a single knowledge about magic at all. Not a single one at all. My family only tutor me the basic stuff that a child could learn. Like reading, writing and drawing. That goes the same for my preschool. But when I finish preschool and went to middle school, I learned that magic was all around us. Some of my classmate even has it. They would usually show it off in the class.
Then there was me. Who was very fascinated about magic but there was one problem. I don’t have any magical abilities like most other kids at my age. I kept on asking about it to my parents and they didn’t give me a straight answer at all. Either that, or I was just a child who doesn’t understand what the heck my parents could of said. I don’t remember what they really said, but I think it was like they were dodging my question. All of that however stops once it was time for me to be seven years old.
My family decided to celebrate my seventh birthday. Its funny, really. Nowadays, I rarely get such a birthday celebration from my family. I guess birthday parties was just a kids thing. Even one of my two little brothers now started to not having their birthdays. Anyway, as I finally blew the candle, my parents showed me something. They showed me what was really magic. But what does that mean, really? Why was there such a difference between the magic that I have seen at school compared to this magic that my parents showed me?

Well for one thing, they showed me that magic can be used for amusement. But what was really important was that magic could change the perspective of a person. Both my parents just did that. They changed my perspective of what magic really was. It wasn’t just to show off your talent or gain fame through it. It was also about how you use it to protect the ones you love. And they showed me just that.
My parents brought me to what I thought was my big brother room, but when I stepped in. It was a whole different place. It was way larger than my brother’s room. It was a wasteland. Over there, my parents showed a lot of species that existed in this world. I couldn’t really understand how my parents did it. And I really didn’t expect they could do this kind of thing. Especially when they never showed me any of their magic to me before this.
Then things got more interesting. What do I mean, really? Well, I happen to saw a freaking dinosaur. Yes, a dinosaur. An animal that was already extinct thousands of years ago. It was bizarre. From seeing birds and fishes to a freaking dinosaur out of nowhere. I didn’t even feel a tremor at all when they arrived. They just simply appeared way behind me. It was fascinating to see all of these creatures roaming around.
It was great until we heard a growl from afar. It was a pack of Dire Wolfs. Dire Wolf was known for their large figure which was larger than the average wolf. They could even grow as large as a container truck. How I knew that? Well the wolfs that we saw was just that big. The dire wolfs growled and howled. They slowly made their way toward us. Hungry for human flesh, obviously. As a child, I was frightened. Those dogs kept on howling and howling like they just hit their jackpot or something.
But then both of my parents stood in front of me. They assured me that everything will be alright. It all depends on how much you want to protect the ones you love and they totally showed that to me. My mother moved so fast that I couldn’t even connect the dot on how did she move around in just a blink of an eye.

She kept on popping all over the place and sometimes most of the dire wolfs were already on their knees. Everything seems to be going well until one wolf managed to break through the defence and tried to jump on me. But the moment I realised that I would be eaten, I was already standing at a different place. Next to me was my father, who touched my shoulder just now. I figured he saved me by doing his magic but I don’t really know what it was because like my mother, it was a blink of an eye.
As a child, I couldn’t understand the logic between what was my parents magic and how did they did it. Even to this year, I couldn’t even understand it. But I started to notice a clue when I started my final years in high school earlier this year. From another person’s eye, they would see me move things around with a blink of an eye thanks to my Time Manipulation magic. But it wasn’t a really big difference compared to what my mother did. Besides, my magic only lasted for a measly one second.
I thought to myself, was my mother also had the same ability. Or was it my father who had it? Or was it both my parents who had it? Did they used Time Manipulation to bring me back in time to the age of the dinosaurs? I concluded that it was in fact what happened but I still couldn’t understand how they brought me somewhere out of nowhere just from our house with a simple doorway. It was still a mystery for me. Until tonight that is…
“White…you’re body…it’s glowing…” Mei noticed something was different.
“What’s going on with him? Will he be alright?” Airi was worried.
“It’s alright guys.” I assured them, “Now I know…”
“Know what?” questioned Lore.
I opened my eyes which was glowing as well which then proceeds to blind everyone with a shining bright light. I finally understand what was going on back then on my 7th birthday. My mother, was a wizard who uses the same ability as I had which was stopping the time. She stopped time and moved around the place and took out some of the wolfs while she do that. I see why she could fight such an enemy in a blink of an eye.
It was wonderful to know that the ability you had was the same ability your mother also have. It was like something passed down to me. But what makes me weird was the power I had wasn’t inherited. I was given. My Time Manipulation was simply handed to me by my long lost cousin, Cyclone Flash.
I think it was a matter of coincidence that I was given the same powers as my mother have. But now I think it wasn’t just a coincidence. It was destined to happen sooner or later. The Infinity Crystal that Flash gave to me was an artefact of the Cyclone Family. The crystal destiny was bound to end up with one of Cyclone’s descendants. It happened to be me. But it wasn’t just one crystal. There was another one. The Cyclone Family had another crystal. That crystal was actually a half of the crystal I ate. The other half was from my mother apparently. Once she's with my father, my brothers and sisters begin to develop similar abilities through inheritance. Except it isn't as complete as mine since now the two crystal has been reunited. It was just taking its time and space to produce the magic into a reality.
About my father, apparently what he did was what I learned tonight after reading the book that we brought from The Dimensional Bag realm. Space Manipulation. That ability, it was the very ability that I have been so impatient about ever since I realised I was left alone among my peers. My parents and siblings didn’t seem to be bothered about it. Now I know why that was the reason. And tonight, was the night where my true magic. The magic that wasn’t automatically given by the crystal but by inheritance…I can now manipulate space…
But of course, there will be some drawbacks to this...

Necromancer and Co.
In a time before the existence of the present, the gods decided to create a plane of existence where all their creations could exist in the same place. In it, all would be fair, and all gaps between races and technological advancements could be crossed with a single system that the gods had created. Every year, the gods would choose a new race to put in their land, and in this new group of beautifully unlucky people, Alen, his friends, and a few people from Earth have finally met their turn to be tossed into the playground of the gods. Unfortunately though, Alen was thrust into a forest of corpse-eating bears and horribly smelly undead on his first day, one of the many danger-zones of the continent the gods had chosen to throw them in. It would be easy to say that he simply died within the first day, or that he'd starved to death or whatever, but let's be honest... That story would be no fun to tell, yes? (Re-write of my first fiction with the same name.)

A Nation of Distances (possibly a dystopian love story)
Michael lives in a toxic macho world with extreme male hierarchy. When he gets a weird rating that makes his place even more problematic he's forced to choose a fiancée at a Wife School, and he slowly discovers more about the other side of the great divide between the sexes in The Nation. If only the world would stop being so complicated... On the other side there's Megan, who's more interested in books than in marriage, and the unpredictable Eliza who seems to have a connection with Micheal already. Will they be able to cross the distance and become friends against all the rules of their own world, or will they just be crushed? Are positive relationships between men and women even possible? And is there a way to change the world or is that just a naive thought of a silly wimp? 'A Nation of Distances' is a slightly dystopian dialogue-heavy drama set in a low sci-fi future setting about the war between the sexes, disconnect and friendship. The genre will fluctuate in between more slice-of-life parts and soft sci-fi drama with possible romantic elements, with alternating lead and switching perspectives once more of the main characters are established. Content Warning: Certain concepts and scenes might be disturbing and/or triggering to some, even though the story itself won't be extremely heavy most of the time. Sexism as a double-edged sword destructive to both sexes is an important part of the story, but so is friendship.Note that all descriptions of persons and places are purely fictional and made up by the writer, and any resemblance with anything in the real world is a coincidence, since the real world is not supposed to be dystopian anyway!
