《The OP Adventures of Joe》Chapter 7: Just Your Average Status, Part 5

Upon hearing me, Basgiuxarh's face contorted into one of surprise. “Master… Do you know what the System is?” He asked this with a look that said ‘Don’t hit me for saying this’.
This guy might have some answers for one of my many questions… “No, go ahead and explain whatever that is. While you’re at it you may as well throw in where you came from and who you are.”
Once my demon was done fixing his hanging jaw, he managed to start sputtering out a sentence. “R-Right… Okay, well the System was put into place by the Council-“ He gaged my reaction to this word, and upon seeing no recognition he continued. “Which is a group composed of the 12 rulers of each plane of existence, that is made to show you your progression along the path to power.” He paused to see how I was doing, it was all making sense so far and it must have shown on my face. “It is accessible to any creature with enough intelligence and mana (practically 0 is required) by saying out loud or in your mind ‘System, show status’.” (Professor Demon)
“As for where I came from-“
“SYSTEM!!!! SHOW ME MY MOTHERFUCKING STATUS!!”(Hype Joe) WHOOOO SCREENS! Shit might start making sense around here! A glorious blue panel materialized in front of me after a long tension building pause.

I think my demon started talking at some point while I was examining my stats, but he was thoroughly ignored.
My stats are absurdly high!! All thanks to Ashton Inheritance and Extreme Body Enhancement they were insanely inflated. It looks like the average human should have 50 in each stat, though my intelligence even without the inheritance is over 400!
This is a lot of information to digest… This is basically telling me my family had some secrets. I didn’t understand what it meant by max tier or plane 13, but one thing is for sure. My magical capacity is ridiculous… A quick calculation told me that if I did release all my mana explosively like that, I could annihilate everything in an almost 1000km radius and burn everything else for another 3000km after that. No wonder it says calculated at dangerous levels to myself, I doubt I’d survive if I was at the epicenter of that kind of explosion.
Hmm… Unwanted heir? My family is some kind of nobility?? Why is my race Human with question marks after it? I’m some kind of space nobility? Then I noticed something weird (as if being half-human wasn't), it says my inheritance gives me +1200 CHR but there’s no such stat listed. So there’s hidden stats? CHR usually stands for charisma… I guess that would explain people’s attraction and fascination with me since I received my inheritance, my charisma stat is 24 times everyone else’s! (Assuming they have 50).
All of these skills make sense I guess, they were a result of me playing with ‘pure’ mana. The system is making it sound like a big deal what with referencing it all the time, I made a mental note.
It looks like Til heard me talking about my Extreme Thought Acceleration and altered my skill’s description. Does that mean Til is responsible for this System? Though Basgiuxarh mentioned something about a council...
I had so many questions and judging by Basgiuxarh’s non-interjection to my thoughts, he didn’t have answers for me either. Or maybe something else is preventing him from answering? Argh..
There was one more thing I was curious about, notifications are OFF?
Turn notifications ON?
Yes?
Nothing happened, so I pulled up the status window again. Everything was the same with the exception of notifications which now said ON.
By the way, the status screen felt like it was overlapped onto something like a second pair of eyelids. I could open and close them, though weird, and it gave me piece of mind knowing blue screens wouldn't be my death in the future.
Satisfied for now, I refocused on my surroundings and the giant babbling demon in front of me. He was getting really into a story about how he destroyed a planet or something, but the view was much better and concerned me much more. The city of Paris was alight with red and blue, and I could hear what sounded like gay men screaming but it was too consistent for that. Ahhhh, police sirens. They’re flashy battle did not go unnoticed and it looks as if they had caused a huge panic. Causing panics, being one of my specialties, did not really faze me that much. Though the view was nice, it was getting annoying listening to the sounds of this big city. “-giant volcanoes right? So I channeled all my energy into the molten bedrock surrounding me-” (Basg)
“Shut the fuck up, we need a change of scenery.” (Joe) My words hit my faithful servant like a hammer, causing him to look crestfallen. Screw that guys feelings though, he was talking about some pretty fucked up shit he did to the people on that planet. As much as I wanted to ignore him, some small part of me registered his words. “I nickname you Bass by the way, like the fish not the sound.”

Still pouting but somewhat cheered up from being given a nickname, Bass asked “So where are we going? Shall we take over this planet or maybe destroy it? My senses are telling me that this place's inhabitants are incredibly weak. Not to mention that as far as I can tell there are many children below us that would hit the spot perfectly, hopeless and yet-"
"You don't need to know, no, no, and hell no. First of all this place is my home so don't go getting any ideas, second why would I want to eat children?" (Joe) I couldn't keep the irritation out of my voice and with every word he shrank back a little. Now that he was bound to me, we could feel each other's exact strength, and wow was he ever weaker than me. He was like an ant, for him the pressure must have felt enormous which would definitely help in making him my bitch. "First we need to go someplace public, so you're going to need to change into something more normal and human looking." On second thought... I used Mana Modelling to make a full size replica of Albedo from Overlord without wings or horns. Pulling up my status window shows that used about 80000 mana. "Actually, I want you to take this form. That's an order by the way."
He looked a little uncomfortable, but he immediately and diligently went about transforming himself. A dark miasma came from his pores and surrounded him in a thin veil. The figure slowly shrank. Dismissing my other Albedo, another thing struck me. I don't really want to stand out either, better deactivate Nephilim form. Though it came with many benefits and gave me a few ideas for other forms I wanted, right now it was unnecessary and just drew attention.
Deactivating was much more comfortable than activating, like the feeling of a relaxing dump except all over my body. Looking much more human, I checked on Bass' progress. He was now the same height I was, by deisgn, and his miasmic veil was getting thinner and thinner. Then, all at once the cloud was dispersed in every direction. Standing before me was an exact replica of the statue I had made, with a few differences.
For one, 'she' was much more attractive than I had intended. Probably Bass' pride to be the most beautiful demon or something? Also, I don't remember covering my statue in tattoos, but there it was. "Ummm, what's up with all those designs?" (Joe) All over her body from her neck down was covered in the same swirling red runes that Bass had had previously. "Not that I'm against it... Nevermind, it totally suits you." The swirling and intricately detailed patterns on her body made her all the more interesting. Her face was faintly Japanese, like a hafu, with extremely beautiful and soft features. Her white dress hugged the curves of her body very nicely, while also revealing a 'tasteful' amount of tattooed thigh. The thick straps of the tight dress hung on her arms mid-bicep, with gloves covering up to the elbow. Her dress was too long, and swept whichever floor she was walking over.
"While I don't exactly have a gender, I feel more comfortable as a man you know..." (Bass)
"Save your complaints, my mind is racing a million miles an hour thinking of all the consequences of what you have shown me..." For one, it seems I can create abilities by throwing around tons of mana with a goal in mind.
Bass sat in silence as I pondered. Pulling out my sword’s handle I focused on it intently. There has to be some kind of ‘Analyze’ skill. Right on queue –
UnknownMassive amounts of energy are barely detectable within, 99.9999% chance to be an explosive.
Skill aquired: AnalyzeA mysterious and ancient skill, said to use the owner's knowledge in conjuction with whatever the system deems them worthy to know.
Slightly excited to see what it will reveal about the actual sword, I willed it to unsheathe itself.
"Whoa!" Bass exclaimed dodging the extending blade by a hairs breadth. "Good thing I have fast reflexes else that would have been a horrible accident huh boss."
"Yeah, wow, what an accident that would have been." (Monotone Joe) Damn I missed, anyways...
Unnamed Soul Crystal BladeTier 1 weapon. A torrent of raging emotion rolls off of this blade. The crystal is of the highest quality, making this a legendary and unprecedented treasure. Not only is this an unstoppable blade, it is also something of a mana battery though using the mana inside will slowly consume the blade. It seems to be passively absorbing mana from it's surroundings. Current charge unknown.
I have mixed feelings about this skill, it's giving me some useful information but I can also tell that it's holding back on me quite a bit. Perhaps they will improve as I go. Unnamed eh?
After a quick moment of thought, I proclaimed "This blade shall now be known as Ashbringer." This name allows me to honor my parents a bit who supposedly helped create it according to Til and reference WoW at the same time. I am a true genius.
[Kukuku, quite a few funny misconceptions you have there son. Nice name, I think I shall take it.]
Title earned: Wielder of AshbringerOriginal wielder of the legend in the making, Ashbringer. +100% damage while equipped, inflicts splash damage on hit, several more unknown effects.
Misconceptions? .. Silence. Hello??
After fruitlessly talking to myself for a while I decided that Ashbringer had no more interest in talking to me and reluctantly moved on.
Next up for inspection was my newly acquired genderbent slave/friend. She squirmed under my gaze, which I tried to keep from admiring the goods.

My first conclusion is that she is much weaker than myself. For now the numbers don't mean a whole lot to me but the two maximum capacities give me a rough idea of what I'm looking at. I'm hoping once I get a look at Elise's status things will start making more sense. I assume we are crazy strong and this is reinforced by her scary titles. For some reason it's not showing her skills or the effects of his titles, but I get the feeling the only thing showing me so much about him was the fact she's my slave (I know it says gender N/A but in my mind she's a woman from now on).
Still with the screen in my vision, I focused on the words "Plane-up unavailable" that followed her level. This whole plane business was seriously bothering me and I wanted to know what it meant. I focused my intense thirst for knowledge onto the system and hoped it would cave, giving me a skill or just what I'm looking for. After a staring competition with an imaginary screen-
Analyzation'Level: 100 (Plane-up unavailable)' Upon reaching the maximum level of 100, a 'Plane-up' is available. Please return to the plane you achieved this feat and try again.
I can work with this... So 100 is the maximum level upon which you can move to a higher plane? It doesn't sound very appealing, you'd be leaving behind (presumably) your entire world and old life.
If the plane and tier are connected, then that must mean that Bass is from plane 4? "Yes Master, I spawned in the 5th plane and advanced after centuries of slaughter- I mean training, to the 4th. Then that bastard-" So your tier is the highest plane you've reached? That must mean I'm from the first...
Bass stopped her rambling mid sentence, crashing and burning in the middle of a word to stop and look at me wide eyed. "M-master is from the f-first plane? That place is truly a world of monsters, I understand how you beat me so easily now..." She spoke with reverence and a tinge of fear.
I decided to be truthful with him since his mind reading ability must have deemed this a subject she can help with. "While I've never been there myself, I have to assume both of my parents were."
"Might I have the honor of knowing Master's family name?" Bass asked tentatively, as if she thought I would actually say no.
I figured what the hell, it's not like it's a big secret or even an uncommon last name. "Ashton."
Before I finished the word Bass had fainted, and would have face planted onto our silvery platform, had it not faded with her consciousness.
Suddenly free falling and more than a little curious as to his reaction, I checked the time and decided to go meet up with Elise. It had been a little over an hour since I sent her back to the hospital. I was really caught up in those screens ok? And Bass just talked her ass off the whole time, probably told me her whole damn life story.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Failfish on everything I've ever promised about this story lmao.
So you've probably noticed updates getting slower and slower. It has to do with a combination of lack of free time, inspiration and writing skill. I learned a whole lot about writing on this maiden voyage and found that there is a lot more to it than meets the eye. It doesn't help that all my inspiration has been towards concepts that don't work at all in this story, and if I were to start again I feel like I could make it a lot easier on myself. That said I don't think I'll stop writing this one, updates will just be slow like they are now. There's also so much more to this hidden in my notes and future chapters, it's so frustrating not being able to tie it all together or just reach those points at all! Mostly because it is a broken mess, sigh... Let me know your thoughts lol.

Zhou Mingzie, A young Chinese American is suddenly brought into a mythical land, similar to China in many ways, but is most definitely not. This new world appears to contain cultivation elements like the Wuxia and Xanxia stories he read throughout highschool, but he can also gain Levels and Skills, I mean Paths and Techniques. Sure he is Chinese, but he grew up in America, so he doesn't want to ascend to the heavens and fight spirit beasts, does he? But Mom wants him to embrace his heritage more...jk...unless? [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Inspired heavily by The Wandering Inn and Beware of the Chicken, as well as cultivation novels in general, this story hopes to take a Westernish approach to the standard Cultivation approach, being more subtle and changing how it approaches the standard tropes of the genre, without abandoning them entirely.
