《A Celestial's Wrath》Chapter 2 - A Strange Girl and her Teddy

The website of Spirit Pagoda looked really fancy and well-made. A big picture was on the top of the website and showed a beautiful, smiling woman in a red cheongsam holding her hand in front of her ample breasts and pointing at her bracelet.
The bracelet stuck tightly to her skin and glittered like diamonds. Seven white orbs were embedded in the bracelet and shimmered in a mesmerizing white.
Next to her were the following words printed: “Get your Spirit Bracelet now and enter the Spirit Realm to search for treasures! Be a treasure hunter and explore new planets! Come and be part of building a new future! The next step in humanity!”
Below blinked the red words: “Only 499 Yuan!! We are open 24/7.”
“Only around 500 Yuan? That’s way cheaper than I thought. I mean we are talking about jumping planets here.”
The article below explained in detail what the bracelet can and functions as. To put it simply, the 7 orbs on the bracelet refer to the spirit level of the wearer. Through missions from the Spirit Pagoda and kills, the spirit level can be increased. It somehow reminded Yan Hao of the games he used to play.
Each planet has specific prerequisites to enter them. The first planet, also called First Spirit Realm, has no restrictions. The Second Spirit Realm demands one to be a Spirit Lord. But the requirements for the other Spirit Realms weren’t stated.
“If getting the Phoenix Coin is my only chance to save Mei’er, then I will definitely need that bracelet,” Yan Hao concluded and silently left the room.
When he arrived at the elevator, a little girl with black hair and a white dress stood there. She seemed to be around 9 years old and held a teddy bear in her arms, tightly pressing it against her heart.

Yan Hao smiled warmly at her and entered the elevator with her. He pressed the button heading to the ground floor and asked the little girl, “Where are you heading to?”
The girl buried her flushed face in the cozy teddy bear and timidly said, “T- To the magician.”
“The magician?! No, wait, I meant which floor. Which floor are you heading to? I will press the button for you.”
“I-... I’m heading to the Floor of Untainted Land.”
Yan Hao didn’t understand a single thing what the girl said. ‘What Floor of Untainted Land? Is there such a thing?... Oh, never mind.’
The door closed and the elevator moved downwards. Yan Hao couldn’t help himself but to occasionally glance at the girl. She was just too weird, yet cute.
...
*ding*
The door opened again.
A desolate lobby appeared before them. Not a single person was to be seen; no wounded or sick people and no nurses. It seemed as if nearly no one is the city needed a doctor.
It was utterly silent.
The both of them left the elevator and walked side-by-side towards the exit. While walking, the little girl cutely moved her teddy bear into various fighting stances and shot her gaze around the hall.
Yan Hao gave a slight chuckle and curiously asked her, “Are you fighting someone? Maybe the magician?”
“N- No! The magician is an ally. But you have to keep your eyes open for the golden dragons.”
Yan Hao jokingly said, “Heh. Thank you for the tip. I will keep my eyes open.”
Arriving at the exit, the automated door opened itself.
Raging winds stormed through the open door and slapped into their faces. Heavy raindrops came with the wind and pounded at their bodies like marbles.

Yan Hao pulled the hood over his head and protected his face with his arm. The little girl held her teddy in front of her face and her black hair fluttered in the wind.
The pitch-black sky hummed in its anger. The clouds were rumbling and grumbling with thunder filled with the wrath of gods.
Suddenly, a blaze-gold lightning purring with energy whipped violently into a tree on the other side of the street, tearing a golden scar into the air.
Fire flared up in the tree and crackled. The screeching winds howled at the fire, yet it prevailed, flickering in the winds.
With knitted eyebrows and squinted eyes, Yan Hao looked at the girl and screamed louder than the winds, “Are you planning to walk through the storm?! Should I take you with me?! I have a hover-car!”
The little girl tilted her head behind the teddy and screamed back, “We don’t go into cars with strangers!”
Yan Hao wasn’t willing to let a little girl walk through the storm, not like that. He took off his jacket and put it over the little girl. The hood was bigger than her head and covered it entirely.
The girl pulled the jacket closer to her so that it won’t fly away and stared with dazzling eyes under the hood at Yan Hao. His short black hair swayed in the winds and was dripping wet. His shirt flickered from the winds and his muscular arms were shown, glittering from the water.
Yan Hao gave a warm smile to her and said, “Stay safe!” before he sprinted to the hover-car across the street, near the blazing tree.
He touched the wet and cold screen at the driver’s door and after a green light flickered, the door swayed open like a butterfly’s wing.
Swiftly, Yan Hao plummeted into the seat and closed the door, shutting the raging winds and rain out. After he wiped the rain from his face and shook his wet hair, he glanced back to the entrance of the hospital.
Gone. The girl’s gone…
“Where is she? Did she go back in?” he asked himself and glanced left and right along the street, looking for the girl. But the sidewalk was empty and desolate, devoid of a living being.
“She’ll be safe from the storm inside the hospital,” he thought and a smile blossomed onto his lips.
Meanwhile, the rain hammered like a salvo of bullets against the windshield. The plummeting rain flowing down it blurred the vision through it, making it hard to see anything.
Yan Hao, who was shivering from the cold and wet clothes, pushed against some buttons near the wheel. A gentle breeze of heat blew out from the air-conditioners of the car and stopped his shivering.
The windshield wipers rapidly wiped the rain from the windshield away and made it possible to view the scenery behind it.
After he started the hover-car and the engine hummed, he laid his hands on the wheel, put his feet on the pedals, and drove along the street towards the Spirit Pagoda.

In the future of Earth humans are no longer the dominant species. Monsters, vampires, elves and all manners of otherworldly threats now threaten the planet and its people. And for one such as Camille, there was nothing she could do. A failed martial artist, Camille swallowed her pride and dreams, all the while sinking into the world of video games. Until she died. Reawakening with newfound power in her very own bed, there's no doubting that she's an oddity. And as the only individual in the world with the body of a video game character, she's ecstatic. No longer will she just be content with playing games in her dark room, taking over fantasy worlds as a great heroine. Rather, she'll do something better. And that'll be to take over the real one instead. Whether it be mages, demons or other supernatural entities that stand in her way, it doesn't matter. Camille may be a level one at first, but dammit if she wasn't going to try to reach one hundred. This is not a crunchy LitRPG and gradually becomes more of a character driven story that just happens to have a main character with LitRPG abilities. There will be a variety of powers/abilities that are explored later in the setting involving magic systems and other technological advancements. The first 10 chapters were written with satirical undertones, but begin to develop more into its own entity after that.

The Granddaughter of Time
Teresa Hargrove was okay with giving up. She knew the Earth was doomed and there was nothing to be done about it. What she was not okay with was the Future, an enigmatic woman nearly fanatical in her devotion to making a difference, dragging her along — seemingly, to prove her wrong. It turns out though that the Future is very hard to understand. This story contains heavy themes, including mental illness, existential crisis and death. However, I still tried to eventually convey a message of hope. Several mythical and metaphorical beings in the shape of humans will appear in most chapters. However, they are not meant to be of a specific ethnicity or social background and are instead perceived differently by people around them. For your reading pleasure, feel free to imagine them any way you’d like, even if your imagination contradicts descriptions from the story. Enjoy!~
