《A Savage's Journey》Chapter 6: Jason is Finally TALENTED!!

“THE BUGBEARS!” Jason jolted awake and out of a dream of one of the DnD campaigns he participated in. The first thing he saw was the dusty ground he apparently fell fast asleep on. The second thing he saw was the experience notification of the cycle.

LEVEL UP
“When did I lose health?” Jason searched his body trying to find the injury. Right when he started to move he couldn’t help but scream in pain. He stopped immediately. He couldn’t see the injury but the mind numbing pain he felt from his back probably meant that that’s where the injury was.
Without regard for the consequences of losing a cycle Jason took out his second to last fruit and ate it. This time there was no pain but as Jason watched his health it ticked all the way back up to 100. Yet he still felt pain from his back as he moved. Not as much but it was there. Then overtime he felt even that go away and he was just left with what he assumed was a bloody back and no injury.
Jason gently touched his back and felt dried something. After scratching at the dried substance he brought it up close to his face to look at it. It looked to be a mix of blood and dirt although it was hard to tell completely in this darkness.
“Fucking axes,” muttering under his breath Jason brought up the entirety of his status screen.

Before Jason was even allowed to do anything more a new screen popped up demanding his attention.

Touch of a Sprinter Increase leveling speed by 30% for Running Skills Touch of a Gambler Increase leveling speed by 10% for Running and Luck Skills
So I have to pick one. Well that’s easy I’ll just pick Sprin… actually… nevermind. I think Gambler would be a better decision. I’m almost certain that the Lodenstone was the skill that influenced that earthquake or whatever it was to drop a rock on the pressure plate. I mean that’s the only thing that makes sense to me. It’s just too coincidental otherwise. That’s all Luck is after all, natural random coincidences.
If I get the other luck skill, then Lodenstone and Well of Fortune level up quickly and then I’ll have more things happen and they’ll turn out better for me. Isn’t that how it works? Aren’t those two a little powerful for Tier 1 skills?
Jason didn’t consider the subject any longer and chose Touch of the Gambler. Then he threw all his stat points in Luck mainly because he had now decided to capitalize on the increase of random chance happening around him. Then he chose Well of Fortune as his next skill before he had a chance to regret it.

“Alright well at least I’m getting things. Although maybe not the right things… whatever” Jason stood and gave the middle finger to the still swinging axes. He turned around and started running down the corridor once more.

Jason had eaten his last fruit a cycle ago. He woke up with a groan and rolled to a sitting position before checking his experience and status.

One cycle ago he had reached level 4. His leveling speed was definitely going to slow down exponentially from level eight or so. It would probably take him a week or so to reach a new level at that point, maybe more. He only had seven experience at the time so he couldn’t unlock any new skill trees so he just took the Unnatural Speed which was actually kind of nice.
The Well of Fortune gained 110 experience for itself each time Jason’s good luck activated and influenced an event. Each of his skills gave half of what they earned to his general experience as well which was nice for him. Speeds up leveling at least. Though the rounding down to the nearest whole number is really annoying.
There had been two more activations of Lodenstone which were both thankfully good. It seems the experience that Lodenstone earns is based off of his level which means that it’ll give big chunks of experience until it maxes it’s rank. If there is a max rank.
Last cycle Lodenstone made me trip and fall on my face. Thank god it did though because I didn’t see the trap right in front me. This thing is really saving my ass sometimes.
The two running skills gained experience based on how much stamina he used. The skills themselves got the entirety of the stamina usage that was put towards running. Walking all day wouldn’t level this skill up. Then they gave half experience back to him as general experience which meant that stamina usage was almost counted twice.
Jason got up, threw all his points into luck and stretched for a minute or two. Running so much really tenses and stresses the muscles apparently. Although he could easily feel that he could run faster and for much longer now. I kind of regret not putting points into Vigor now. Ah who am I kidding I like the idea of just having everything fall into my hands. If I get enough luck that’s exactly what’s gonna happen. Jason grinned and took off running.
Then I just gotta be fast enough to outrun anything or anyone who wants to take what I “earned”.

The Extramundane Emancipation of Geela, Evil Sorceress at Large
Darkos, holy priest of Alerion, the God of Peace and Healing, has just arrived at the castle of the Evil, Dark Sorceress, backed by his trusty, if clumsy, companion, Geela. They fling open the doors to find the place dusty and decrepit. "Oh dear, this place is showing its age," Geela sighs. And with those words, everything Darkos knew about his friend is turned on its head. Geela, far from a naive farm girl, is a 70-year-old Dark Mistress, hell-bent on exacting revenge on her ex-husband Barney for cheating on her, trashing her place, and changing the locks. Geela is everything Darkos has sworn to defeat. A bastion of dastardly deeds. A pinnacle of evil... ...so of course he finds himself tagging along.
8 172Star wars: Selfish virtue.
''He's broken, are you sure this is a good idea?'' ''It's gonna be alright, it'll become a different timeline. I will supply the power for it myself, won't cost you anything and you can watch it play out with me.'' ''If you're sure dear, the last time we did this it didn't turn out so good for the world though.'' ''It's gonna be fine! ...Probably.'' A man yanked out of our world is put into another one on the whims of beings out of his comprehension or knowledge. Journey with him as he tries for the things that were ever out of his reach in his last life, enjoyment, fulfillment, happiness... and maybe even love. This is my first time writing anything. I'll be taking it as a learning experience, though obviously, I'd hope that people enjoy it. When you find something to criticize, and you will. I at least hope you'll word it in a constructive way so I could remedy and/or learn from it. Enjoy.
8 385Heroes Die First
It was after World War Two ended; rumors spread of people wielding amazing powers or mutating into horrifying monsters. Seventy years later, heroes and villains dominate the news and battle in the streets, discrimination drives mutants into the criminal lifestyle, and the governments of the world are struggling to handle the rapidly shifting paradigm. Maxmillian Grants, like any sixteen year old boy, wants to be a hero and he has a secret: he has the power to do it! Except, when he actually looks into the risks and the rewards he discovers that being a hero is not really worth it. Being a villain, on the other hand, certainly pays well. If you don't mind risking being sent to prison and being hunted by heroes and other villains. Max, not being an idiot, does mind both of those things. Instead of being a hero or being a villain, Max decides to take the third option, to be a vigilante! His plan? To hit the criminals in the gut and run off with their money, making the world a bit brighter at the same time by taking down the bad guys. But how long can he actually manage alone? Can he really navigate through the dangerous world of supers and capes without declaring for either heroes or villains? Or will he be sucked into the web of plots and drama that is the life of those with superpowers? (Cover photo by Sebastiaan Stam, downloaded from Unsplash)
8 139The Adventures of Rat Damon
12/20/2021: we're back to work! Rat Damon reflects on his life of adventuring, both before and after meeting Jack Jensen of earth. He recounts many of his experiences, both happy and sad. He regales you with the tales of power found and love lost. This is a side-adventure based on our The Other Guys series. Rat Damon makes an appearance in Heroes of Last Resort but is much more than a simple rat. What I will post here is going to be a lot rougher than Heroes as I am writing and posting as I go along, so my apologies go out to you in advance! However, I will revise as needed as we go along. As writing isn't my full-time gig, the posting of new material here will likely be a bit irregular and as far as what length this book will be, it remains to be seen. This was originally envisioned to be a 30-40k word novella but one never knows where the story will take me. Do not fret, book 2 in the series is well on its way, in fact much farther along than this novel(la?). We will see where Rat Damon takes, I guess! Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy this as much as I had writing it.
