《Tourism Record of the Origin Dragon》Record 053: Formation

After leaving the forest, Argon cast a spell called Wind Walk which shares his Speed with others. Running at high speed is nice, however I remembered that it would increase my AGI so we returned to walking leisurely. Thus, it took our little party a few days to reach the outskirt of Mirage Lake Town.
On the way, we weren't attacked by any monster for obvious reason. I start finding how useful my scale are. They change color easily by magic buff, sun light, wind and even the ground. I guess I'd be blue (literally) if it's rain. Rector said that it rarely rained during Origin Month, so I can't test.
Sometime, there are weak monsters loitering around, but I would gain no exp if I asked Glutton to help. Furthermore, that wolf rarely appears. Still, Rector gladly captures the monster for me, but..
"So bothersome. I only have 6 Atk." I rub my sore claw. "It only give me a few exp per smash." I sigh then let the monster run away.
"We can form an official party when we reach town." Rector says.
I simply nod at that idea. A party, huh? We have a Navigator (Argon), a tank (Rector), the kid could be a healer,.. so I would be the damage dealer? That's a nice Formation. Still, I hope we could make party by a simple UI.
"But you should work a little too, if you want to get stronger." Argon butts in.
"I don't need to get stronger. As long as my Level is high enough, I can freely travel around."
Although I can't train my stats if I let other party members do all the work, there wouldn't be a problem. None dares to harm me anyway; even if someone does, I'd get free from this world.
"Don't learn from his example, okay?" Rector tells the angel kid...
As we approach the town from the main road, the town folks start making a commotion. The gentle wind from the lake carries enough energy to change my color every now and then, giving up my identity.
"The Origin Dragon.. returned!"
Although this isn't a big town, the road is still big enough for me to walk freely. People naturally step aside for me, but I still have to stand on my hind legs and step over carriages and such.
This is my second visit here, and people seem to know how to avoid irritating me. None of them kneels or says weird word. They simply standing on the street and stare at me. There are some people who wish to touch me, so I let them touch my tail as to not hinder my movement.
With Rector leading the way, we arrive in front of a wide two-story building on the main road. I am even taller than it when I stand. Looking over the roof, I could see a yard behind the building. Judging from the various dummy, it's probably the training ground. Although I can't read, I could still guess that this is something similar to an "adventurer guild".
"What do you want the party's name to be?" Rector suddenly ask.
Ah right, party's name. In that game, party's name has to be unique like character's name. As long as the party is not disbanded, other players can't use the name again. Still, most people simply smash their keyboard to get an unique string.

"Is asdfasdasd okay?" I jokingly ask.
"Sounds strange, but alright." Rector shrugs and turns away, walking into the building.
"Wait wait! It was a joke!!"
Rector has to run back and forth a few times to ask for my opinions. Some names are taken. Some are forbidden.
"I'm the freaking Origin Dragon, why can't I use the word 'Origin' in my party's name?" I complain.
"Well, they said that there is no exception..."
I don't even want to understand these people's logic.
"Okay, how about.. Origo's Party?"
"Eh.. they also said that Gods' names are forbidden."
"Which deity has that name?" I say despite knowing the answer.
"It's you." Rector says with a wry smile.
"I'm no God." Expecting the answer, I immediately reply.
"You are a little higher than that.."
If not for my clumsy claws, I would have facepalm right now. Wait, my DEX is pretty high already, let's facepalm. Still, my claws can barely cup my muzzle.
"Hey! Stop running back and forth! Just tell your party leader to come in and deal with me!" Suddenly a man's shouting voice come from the guild. "The Origin Dragon is right outside, yet I still have to deal with you.."
"Excuse me!" Rector turns and shout back in. "I am registering a party for the Origin Dragon himself here."
Silence is fall... then is suddenly broken by countless shouts coming from both inside and outside.
"Can I join?!" "Please let me join your party!" "My Level is..." "I can do all the work.." Et cetera.
A man whose Level is higher than the average people, pushing his way out of the guild and comes in front of me.
"Sorry your ho..."
"Call me Origo. Add Sir if you must." I interrupt him.
"Ah okay. Sir Origo, I didn't know that it was you. About the name's restriction, that you can choose whatever name you like."
"Are you sure? You did say that there was no exception for it."
"Well, even if it's not okay, the Gods won't punish their Creator.."
In the end, we decide on the name "Origonal". Argon was unhappy about the word Origin as his tribe called me Genesis Dragon, so I tweaked it a bit.
The party-registering process is similar to when I bind Glutton to me. Using a special scroll stamped by the guild and then dipped with my blood, the party is founded. There is even a party UI appears in my vision. Excluding the leader, the party members write their names on the scroll and have me confirm with the UI. When I lock the party, the scroll conveniently disappears.
"Why do I have to share Exp with this little kid?" I grumble at Rector.
"Then why did you bring him with you? Have some responsibility."
"I hate having responsibility. Stop pushing your work to me!"
"Speak the dragon who doesn't want to train on his own."
"It's you who take honor in doing so in the first place!"
"Hmmph!" "Hmmmph!"
I turn away, walking toward the yard by the lake, ignoring the curious eyes of the town folks who saw me argue with Rector. I could still hear the childish voice of Bened as he asks Argon about various things.

When I reach the yard, I realize this place is actually a standing market. There isn't any stall, the seller simply waving their goods around and yelling. The quieter ones carry the goods on a platform. Most of these things are accessory and usable goods like potions.
For some reason, they seemingly ignore me as I enter the yard. Seeing how crowded the place is, I decide to leave. Just as I turn around, I could hear people yelling, shouting and other noises I want to ignore. They even throw their stuffs aside to chase after me.
"The Origin Dragon!" Yes, it's me.
"Praise to be..." Ignored.
"Please take..." Ignored.
...
Ah, they surrounded me. I hope you all die a horrible deaths.
Suddenly, the entire world turns red. Fire magic? Nope, my scale is still black. That's strange, even the wind stopped. People around me collapses one after another. The busting street fell silent. On the ground, some red lines start connecting each other and forming a huge formation, emitting an eerie red glow. Have those lines always been there?
"Origo!" Argon suddenly runs toward me. With a leap, he flies over the pile of body and lands next to me.
"What happened?" Rector appears on the entrance of the yard, but he can't come near without stepping on the unconscious people. Bened is holding tightly to him.
"I think I accidentally did something."
"Not really.. this is a giant formation drawn with dragon-blood ink." Argon says as he crouches on the ground and examines the red lines.
As expected of a Navigator. He could detect any trap on the ground.. NOT!
"Why didn't you notice it sooner? This formation is clearly aimed at me!" I say and point at the red lines climbing up my legs and keeping me in place.
"I didn't think there would be something like this in the middle of the town."
"Anyway, can you disarm this trap?"
"It's not a trap, it's a magic formation. I can only detect it.." Argon says then suddenly turns back, pointing at a different direction from Rector. "Who's there?"
From the pile of bodies, a man stands up. His body is also covered in red lines, but much smaller than those on my legs. Furthermore, the one of my legs is string-like, but on his body, it looks more like runes.
"He is the one who laid down this formation." Argon calls out.
"Thanks Captain Obvious."
"What?" Argon looks at me with a frown.
"Ah nothing. It's just a.. an expression."
The lizard turns back at the man and pulls out his dagger. Looking at it, the man is actually someone with Holy Element.
"Oh, another Holy Knight? Where is your comrade?"
"Somewhere very close to you.." The man's voice is filled with.. anger?
Argon frantically looks around. However, even with his high DEX, the lizard can't find anything suspicious.
"Where are they hiding?" I casually ask.
"Don't worry about it... Won't matter soon anyway..." The man replies bluntly then collapses onto the ground. The runes on his body shine in.. black light.
Black light? This is the first time I see something like that in this world. Any magic when cast has one of the eight elements and has special-effect with their respective element colors.
"Primal Magic?!" Rector blurts out.
This is so weird. Magic that belongs to the Gods has black light? Ah, this is not the time to worry about it. I have to.. do something...
"I am Origo, the Dragon of Origin..."
Just as I'm about to chant a counter spell, the red glows on my legs suddenly form a series of runes and they also shine in black light.
"Argon! Interrupt the man!" Rector shouts from other side while trying to get close.
The lizard performs another somersault and lands next to that man. With one hand, Argon lift the man's corpse up by his waist... Yes, corpse. For some reason, despite his status is still floating there, the man looks like a dried grape. Furthermore, the runes on his body has already disappeared.
"He.. is no longer the formation's core!" Argon says then sits down, examining the formation on the ground.
I turn to look at Rector as he blocks the kid's eyes with one hand while examining other living corpse with another hand.
With the situation becomes stranger and stranger, I continue my chant.
"...with the power of Vitae the Goddess of Life..."
"Stop!" Argon shouts. "You are the formation's core!"
What is this madness? Looking at the runes, they shine brighter with each of my word. The black light means Primal Magic.. and I am also chanting Primal Magic... This formation is hijacking my chant!!
I can't move, so I can't stop my chant. Any word I say would be hijacked to strengthen the formation.. But what is its purpose?
Before I could think of something else, the runes finish covering my body. Some strange broken words appear in my mind. It wants me to finish the spell? There is no way I would do it!
"Careful, don't activate the formation." The lizard says as he walks toward me.
"Activate..?" I ask out of reflex.. and this entire eerie red world collapse onto itself. My vision blackened as my consciousness slips away.
"Origo!" Argon calling out to me was the last thing I heard...
Material Realm. Mirage Lake Town.
"What.. just happened?" Rector is the first to gets up.
He looks around only to see an empty yard by the lake, littered with people's clothes and various kinds of goods. On his side, Bened the little angelic kid is sleeping soundly.
"Urghh.. head.. hurts..." Argon wakes up next to the Origin Dragon.
The lizard's voice makes Rector looks over. Next to Argon, Origo is sitting upright with his eyes closed. His body is covered in runes, but none of them is glowing.
"This is.. dragon blood ink. The same one used to draw the formation." With his hand, Argon easily erases the runes as he wipes the still-wet ink away.
He then looks at the ground, but the formation has already disappeared.. along with all people in the entire town...

Short Stories: Character Ideas
Training writing by randomly creating characters stories without screwing up some full-fledged story that I may or may not write in the future. There is a main story here; however, as I'm still bad at writing, I decided to just put a small part of it here. Leaving the full story for another book. Also, please notice that every single chapter can and will be edited at any time I think I'm ready to enhance this book's quality.
