《Tourism Record of the Origin Dragon》Record 015: Sanctuary

A wolf is curling up inside its lair under the root of a huge tree, sleeping soundly. Suddenly it senses something floating right in front of its face and quickly jumps backward, distancing himself from it. After its eyes adjust to the surrounding, it notices some big and small light particles floating around inside its lair, dispelling the darkness of the under-tree chamber.
["What are you doing?!"] It telepathically shoots the question at its master - the Dragon of Origin. It has never seen something like this before but it is sure that that dragon did this.
There is no answer.
Grumpily, it crawls out of its lair. The dragon is not here, the scent that dragon left tells it that its master left a few hours ago. However it doesn't care about that, mostly because the scene of the grass field around the tree of its lair has become a scene straight out from a dream.
"Am I dreaming?" It asks itself with a cute whine and its eyes wide open. After a few second of surprise, it returns to its usual grumpy self.
It's night time. Under the huge tree's canopy, countless white light particles of various size and luminance are floating around or sticking to the ground, the grass, the tree trunk and the leaves. The comforting sight only makes the grumpy wolf more grumpy.
"I will smash his head when he returns." The wolf grumbles to itself, ignoring the permanent order etched inside its mind about not bringing harm to the Dragon of Origin. As he declares so, the light particles suddenly raises their speed and flies around him.
[Inside the Sanctuary, all violence is inhibited!] Anonymous system's voice.
"WHAT?!"
A few hours earlier...
I quickly make up a short chant in my mind. My DEX is low but I just need to make a small light source so I don't have to make it complicated. I remember the red light appear when I tried to cast a Fire spell. Casting a fire spell would probably alert the human and make him attack me. Furthermore, red light wouldn't do a good job showing green colored scale. Green under Red light is Black, I wonder if that logic still works in this universe, though I don't have the luxury to experiment it now. I will cast Holy magic then.

I cup my right claws in front of my chest, my left arm is still stretching forward as I starts chanting quietly.
"In the name of the Dragon of Origin..." It's embarrassing to say that; I'm just using the Servant-binding magic as example. "...I command the element of Holy..." Because the human mention Holy magic when I asks him about light, I guess Holy would make a good light source. "...heed my call..." Fancy words would make magic more effective, right?
As white light particles, which I assume as Holy element, start forming around my body, the man in defensing posture notices that I am casting magic. He wouldn't let me finish and dashes forward. He probably thinks I'm casting an attack-type spell... Is there even attack-type Holy magic? Oh right, one can command the element to do almost anything. Anyway, I have to stop my chant.
"Wait!" I stretch my right arm out while shaking my claws as trying to halt the human. He seems to slow down but his face is still full of hostile. "This area belong to my servant Vagabond Wolf. Don't bring violent here or it won't end well."
The light particles around me didn't disappear when I stopped my chant... because I didn't. In 'that' game, one couldn't simply stop their chant. To voluntarily cancel it, they have to use special item or skill. The chant will also be interrupted if the chanter moves or gets attacked or pauses the chant for too long. In any case, there would still be some Mana penalty.
All of those words I said earlier were still treated as magic chanting. I didn't notice it at first but when I say "Wait", light particles appeared around the human and tried to stop him. However my stats was low and my chant was short so it was only able to slow him down. And the words after that... how will this world react to it?
[Vagabond Wolf's Sanctuary erected under the name of the Origin Dragon!]
[Inside the sanctuary, all violence is inhibited!]
The area under the tree canopy suddenly gets covered in a mist-like veil of dim light. Also, my scales' color turns white, even those in touch with the leaves, which means the air is dominated by Holy element. I hope that impudent wolf wouldn't mind his lair becoming a sanctuary. Even if he does mind it, it would be a nice little revenge for his impudence.

For now the Sanctuary will keep me safe from that human's violence.. I hope. My low stats might not help much in restraining him; especially my low DEX as it doesn't let me merge two spells in the same chant so the "Wait" order was dismissed. The man's speed becomes normal, but instead of continue his charge, he jumps backward, returning to his previous position while looking at me with surprised eyes. Ah, my chant hasn't finished, my next words will dismiss the Sanctuary and it would be dangerous again so I have to finish this chant.
"S..Sanctuary!" I awkwardly shout the spell's name to finish it. That name automatically appeared in my mind when I wanted to finish the chant. How convenience! But it's embarrassing when I shout it, I feel like a kid with delusion problem... I'm not going to be a magic caster in this world!
[Sanctuary Lv0 is temporarily added to skill list.] No thank you.
In that game, if the players don't use the temporary spell frequently, it will disappear. Also, they have to chant a lv0 spell on their own until it become lv1; by that time their character will automatically chant it. I wonder how automatic-chanting works in this world...
Immediately after I say the spell's name, the light particles that were floating around my body scatter to fill the space in the area of effect. They just linger and float around in the area. Ah, so beautiful. This place is going to be a tourist spot! It's funny how the first tourist spot of this world I get to was created by me... Wait, this whole world was started by me...
"The.. the Dragon of Origin?" The man's face is still filled with surprise as he lowers his arms, breaking his defensing posture. Oh right, he must have got my name from the Anonymous System's Voice when the Sanctuary was erected. And my scale turned white. It wasn't my intention but those two things helped proving my identity. Though it was unnecessary as this area is preventing violence. Such overkill, I regret yelling the spell's name.
"Yes. Can we start over now?.. Hello, little human. I am friendly and..." I lean my back against the tree, blowing the leaves off my left arm.
"Did you try to eat me?" He interrupts my introduction. It's rude, you know.
"I didn't. I just wanted to ask you some question?"
"Ah.. I see." Why does he sound regretful? I hope he isn't the same as those fanatic holy knights. Still, I ask a question that might confirm my doubt.
"Why are you alone in the forest? Where is your companion?"
"Me and my mate were attacked by surprise. She was eaten by a wolf but.. if it's your servant then.. it's okay.." He says, looking at the ground like he is mourning. However, his face is blushing! The light particles are lightening the area so I can see it clearly! I know enough! I will try to avoid that topic from now on!
"Okay forget that. I just want to know more about this world. Do you have a map of tourist spot or something similar to it?"
"..." The man is still in his own world, probably imagining all the fanatical stuffs he can do to me while staring at the ground. How to get his attention?... I have an idea, but I bet my Tail that I'm going to regret it...
"I will kill you as your reward." I almost puke as I say that. Not like I have anything in my belly to puke though. A wild thought passes my mind: If human are delicious then I won't feel awkward taking sacrifice anymore. Useless killing is bad but Eating is never bad.
"Where do you want to go?" The man immediately looks up, eagerly says, smiling brightly at me.
Should I say "You are courting death!" ?...
The wolf glances at north. "Should I chase after my master?" It wonders. Although, as its name suggest, it doesn't like being restricted, somehow it still feels some affection to his new-found master. Was that an effect of the binding spell? It shakes its head, remembering that it even voluntarily accepted the spell. It subconsciously understands the Sanctuary spell was cast for its safety, but its pride denies that.
Under the night sky, a brown streak is seen 'flying' through the forest toward the north...

Void Breaker
Note: Sadly, this story is currently on hiatus :( Elizabeth Sayler had lost everything in the bombing of Reaver Stadium. Her career, her fame, her power — all of it vanished the moment she lost use of her legs. Now, she's beginning to lose hope of ever healing herself… until her world integrates into the Void. When the apocalypse comes in a flurry of System messages, everyone on earth is given a choice: give up what they value most in themselves, and acquire a path to their heart’s greatest desire. Most would hesitate, but for Liz? She has nothing to lose, and absolutely everything to gain. Armed with newfound powers in a world teeming with monsters, she’s determined to not only survive, but to somehow break the Void’s endless assault. * * * This is a small note about the portrayal of disability in this story. As much research as I do and as many people as I ask, I will in the end only be able to understand a small portion of paraplegia and similar disabilities. Therefore, if there is anything particularly disrespectful, please do not hesitate to contact me. I always intended to portray disability in a respectful way in this story, but please know that Liz as a character does not start out with a healthy view of disability. This is intentional, and a large part of her character development comes from this view changing as she learns. Disability is not something she simply "discards" at the beginning of the story, but an ongoing theme and a part of her journey.

Silvergates: Northworld (Book 1 complete)
Five years ago, the first Silvergate was found. At first, they called it a hoax. But since then, more and more people have entered the alternate dimension called Northworld, received their Interface, and going on to real adventures. As it gained momentum, they called it a problem. Now, they call it a crime. But for nearly a half a million people, it's now their real home. Yearning. Escape. Duty. The reasons to go are many. Despite the criminalization of the Silvergating, people still seek out their ticket to Northworld. But for new Gaters Jasper Hill, Erika Haglund, Henry Esteban, Northworld has surprises in store. Not every rumor are false, not every conspiracy theory is stupid. When the veil lift for them, showing truths about Northworld that no one suspected, they may have a hard time making themselves heard. And being trusted may mean the difference between life or exile forever. Northworld is a litrpg story where people enter an actual world, submit to an RPG-type Interface, and discover an alternate reality. You could describe it as a reversible Isekai since people alternate between Earth and Northworld. The characters are usually casual about it, which means casual talk and the not-infrequent profanity. Four letter words dropped in conversation (or internal monologue). Warning: one potentially horrible theme and one implied sex scene. Book 1 is complete, as the title says. Book 2 is expected to start in 2022 (hopefully).

Moonshot
Gregarious businessman Evin Tumble is fascinated by the sudden and inexplicable appearance of a low-orbiting moon. Specifically, he's interested in shooting it down with a giant cannon. The moon is only about eight miles overhead, but it's high enough and quick enough that nobody can reach it by balloon or airship. He hires our protagonists: taciturn Iseult Morrin, cheerful Sean Whelan, and nervous Íde Ceallaigh, to help him with his obsession. As our heroes are dispersed across the continent to perform tasks for Tumble, and the moon-hunt draws closer, they become increasingly suspicious of their benefactor's motives and true nature. Moonshot is a story centred around struggling with confidence, the difficulty of being an immigrant, and the duality of truth, all clad in the trappings of an urban fantasy. It is character-driven, from the heart, and based on tropes and ideas that are missing from a lot of contemporary fantasy (a push beyond the flawless-yet-somehow-still-needs-rescuing-by-an-oafish-man heroine trope, a touch of cosmic magic based on the shared geometries of Celtic and Arab art).
