A Chase: Run Devil Boy, Run Human Girl 1

We looked at the window of the attic and saw one of the armored guards approach Ingretta’s father and started questioning him. A carriage full of armored guards then appeared from the view being blocked by the tree.

“Now that’s troublesome. I wonder if I would be able to drive them off.” –I slipped up an inappropriate remark but Ingretta didn’t seem to notice.

“What are you talking about?! Those are armed and trained imperial guards!! Have you lost your mind?”

The panicking Ingretta was of course acting like that to keep me from being seen by the guards. Her parents must have ordered her that instant. At very first glance people like them would immediately distinguish a demon like me. Who would I be fooling?

If I was at my original state I would be able to drive all of them off, avoiding casualty as much. But at the same time I wanted to hide even a little of my abilities towards Ingretta’s family and hers as much as possible.

“Hurry and get some of dad’s old clothes. He’s ordered me to take you outside of the borders until the house inspection is over.”

“Okay. But do you know of any way we could go outside without getting noticed by them?”

I decided to go along with her for the time being. Replenishing mana as much as I could until it would be possible to lift the curse I’ve placed on myself was the only considerable option I had. Also, I was now knowledgeable of human laws and what would happen if it were to be known that Ingretta’s family was housing a demon.

After the generosity they have shown me. Even though they’re at the opposing race I would return the favor.

Ingretta climbed the top of a cabinet and got a dusty sack there. She blew the dust off and tap it several times to check if there were still dust inside.

“Gosh. How long are you going to gawk there? Even if my parents were well-known from the capital from way back they still couldn’t hold inspecting guards for too long.”

“No, I mean these clothes should be fine with me. Why are you packing so much up like we’re going on a long trip or something?”

“I don’t know. Just! Don’t ask many question and follow me!”

She then immediately grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the room. We were rushing down the stairs without any caution. There was no really time to waste. Going at the backdoor would pose such a high risk. So I wondered how she plan to escape the barn that’s surrounded by a group of imperial guards.

We then reached the stairs towards the underground wine cellar. For a farm, their house really had a complete package. But…

“Come on, a passage that leads outside from the wine cellar is pretty obvious. Aren’t there—”

But I was wrong. Ingretta knocked the wooden platform at the left wall three times. She was trying to feel and hear something. Then suddenly she pushed a bit and the supposedly flat solid wall opened like a magical door out of nowhere.

Then what waited from the door was.

Urghk…

It was a deep endless void of darkness.

“Uhm… Ingretta? Are we going to—”

I was just about to look at her while asking when I heard her answer at that instant with

“Just hurry up and enter already!”

THUD!!

She drop-kicked me at my side and I fell onto the endless bottom pit.

“UWAAAAAAAH!!!!” -my loud voice decreased in volume in an instant as I fell and slide towards nowhere.

---

SLAM!!

“Ughk!!”

I heard the sound of a flowing water. There’s a stream not very far away from me. It was already visible and I could only walk a few steps from it. It was too shallow that it’s enough to only wet my boots. I looked from behind me and saw a quite huge land elevation covered by roots of old trees and the open hole from the passage I’ve came from. The trees were tall, enough to cover the whole land with shade and dried fallen leaves. I was at the forest already.

I couldn’t determine how long have I been sliding at that dark long passageway so I won’t know how far I’ve traveled already, and how far was I from the house.

What was that all about. To hide something like that from their house. I bet claustrophobic people would die from fear, being thrown into that place.

I examined if my body was still in one piece after slamming on the ground. The height from where I fell didn’t even exceed a height of a normal human so falling off from it won’t really inflict some serious injury to me. But still, a wrong landing could still cost me a broken leg or two.

I tried to stand but I still couldn’t regain my sense of balance.

I heard s joyful loud yell at the hole that I came from. It was Ingrid.

“Of course she followed… Who will guide me here—”

I haven’t finished speaking yet when she launched out the hole and used me as a landing pad to reduce her injuries. A frail and soft kid body of mine would be the best out there at that moment.

“No no no!! Try to evade first before hitting me?!! Are you out of your mind?! Ingretta!!”

HIT!! CRASH!!

“Guaaaah…”

That day that time, I was hurt a lot more compared to those of the battles I’ve encountered my whole life.

“Ouchie!!... Are you oka—ay… I guess not.”

“Just stand up and help me already. I was still hurting from my landing.”

But instead of following what I ordered, she continued to finally lay her body rest on top on me like I was a soft couch at the living room during siesta hours.

“You little punk, you’re tormenting me too much already…”

I was already blessed that my kid persona didn’t appeared that time because it would just make matters worse.

“You’re really bossy. Let me rest for a while, that ride was too exhilarating.”

She went quiet for a while, tried to stop her panting, and continued to talk.

“I was anxious… I was scared too. What’s about to happen to mom, dad, and my little brother? What if a really small sudden decision might put them in danger? But I promised my father that I’ll get you safely out of that situation, so I’ll just have to trust on them.”

I didn’t respond.

Of course she’s just acting tough in front of me that whole time. How would I know if she’s already that matured or she’s really just a kid trying to prove something for herself? A kid shouldn’t stress herself over adult matters, but she did. For my sake, because she’s pledged responsibility on taking me back home.

A little reward won’t hurt so bad. She would be enduring much until she gets back to her family. I let her took a deep breath and calm herself so anxiety won’t catch up with her. I still need her to get back home with her sanity intact.

“Thanks for listening Prince Fred…”

“You’re welcome, Lady Ingretta.”

The scene itself was calming for me too. If I was just born a human, I could already imagine two childhood friends trying to sneak out after getting grounded, wound up finding themselves at an isolated area, but still won’t let any worries run ahead of themselves.

It was a great day to sneak and play.

This… is not the kid me, but the ‘me’ me, right?

She stood up like a prince and tried to help me who’s like a princess. Yes, our roles are reversed.

“Come, I know of a place where we could safely hide for a while.”

---

“Say… How do you know of this place?”

At first place, it’s quite odd that a six-year-old girl like her knew of a hole at their house that had connecting tunnels towards the outskirts of the human empire borders. It’s like she’s prepared for something that could happen.

Or she was just really bored. Either ways, the kid me wanted to find out so I asked.

“Hmmm. I dug the tunnel. My parents were not knowledgeable, it was just only me and my brother that knew. I wanted a place for us to pass time and play. Somewhere our parents could not eye on us that much.”

“Heeeeh… seriously…”

“HA HA HA!! Just kidding!!”

She laughed hard and then slammed my back.

“Ouch!! You almost got me there! Of course a frail girl like you won’t be able to dig a tunnel that long even with your six years of existence!!”

“You seriously would believe that? Hahaha!! Seriously, you… Well, my dad was the one who’ve build it.”

“But what for?”

“How would I know?!! Dad and Mom just let me and my brother use the place as a playing ground. I haven’t really asked.”

“Well, I guess…”

A wise decision, indeed. I’ve always thought her mom and dad were really distinguished individuals at the human capital. The fact that they have made a secret passageway to immediately head out if ever stuff happened, just like how we’re trying to hide right now from the imperial guards.

It would be better to mask something that’s meant for escaping and hide something with something that’s meant for kids to play.

Confirming that possibility, I saw no reason to pry in with their family matters anymore so I just let it be. What’s most important was buying time for me to fully replenish my lost mana and try to communicate with the people back at the demon capital to reactivate the portal.

“Then how far are we from this place to hide of yours?”

“Hmmm, just a few more minutes of walk.”

“Are you really sure only your family knows of this place?”

“Yes, father told me that.”

It might take a minute or two if it’s the parents that would carry us, but since It’s just me and Ingretta, out tiny limbs would take us quite a while to reach our destination.

After a few more minutes of walking, just as she mentioned, we arrived an abandoned cabin which was not really that abandoned-looking. Rather, it looked like a vacation house where a small family of maximum of four can spend a night to unwind. It didn’t really look abandoned and tearing down, it was just a normal unused cabin.

“Hooooh.”

I was really impressed. Nobody would really wander around the area since it’s covered by bushes and there were no visible trails since Ingretta’s made sure that they would be covered again by bushes.

“Nice work here. You guys sure have lots of free time.”

“Count me out of the praising. It’s already built here for as long as I could remember. It might have been here already even before we were born.”

“Ah, yes I suppose so.”

It was a good thing that Ingretta’s always responding to my questions, even though how bugging they were.

I’d like to refrain from talking as much as possible. I would not want her to raise even more suspicion around me. It is too sudden that I came up. And the imperial guard’s visit was frighteningly convenient that the coincidence was too much to handle. But it’s really hard to come up with something, so I’d better stick up with conversations like these.

“Ah.”

She stopped to a realization.

“What is it?”

I thought that she realized something like: the guards might already have been chasing us since we’ve been nowhere to be found back at their barn, or something like: the guards might have already captured her parents and was already using them to lure us out.

Then it would ascertain that selling me out would be the best option.

“You won’t sell me out right?”

“Haaah? What are you even talking about? We’ve come this far. Protecting you like this will only in vain if I suddenly sell you out. Besides, I had was just ordered to hide you. I really don’t know why the guards suddenly popped out there. They really don’t show up this time of the year.”

I was surprised.

“For your age you really say some randomly mature and reasonable stuff.”

“Hey that’s mean. You’re just at my age too. Why suddenly act like an old uncle full of experience and wisdom.”

“’Cause I really am—I mean… Never mind. Forget it. Besides, why did you suddenly stopped? What’s the problem?”

“Ah! Yeah! I forgot to bring food. I won’t even know how long we’ll be staying here!”

That was really a fundamental problem. I couldn’t do anything but to cover my face with my palms due to the failure escape plan we’ve experienced.

As much as I wanted to leave everything to Ingretta so I could take my time to fully recover, circumstances made it so that I was to take action.

“I’ll do the hunting and you’ll do the housework. Let’s split the labor so we won’t get burned out by stress.”

“Hmmm?”

Ah… shit.

Of course how could a six-year-old me be able to hunt deers for food. I was at an age where I should not be bothering myself with things that the elders should be doing. Hunting was one of those. But then again I got worked up and presented myself to be the manpower.

How could I be so careless…

“Well how will you do it?”

I was at the middle of thinking of an alibi to cover up for my lapse but she suddenly got close to me like the curious little Ingretta she always was which startled me.

“Uhm… Uh…”

So close… so close!!

She gotten so close to me that her loose hanging dress was already showing her young body inside her dress, her young breasts and everything included. Of course That shouldn’t be an issue to the old me. I’ve gotten used with bathing with Morgianna since we were young. But since there’s two personalities inside me at that moment, of course it’s a very big deal to my kid me.

Seeing a view of somebody’s bare body besides from Morgianna should still make my six-year-old heart race.

“I… I’m…”

POOF!!

My head burst out like an overheated engine.

Ingretta suddenly realized that her loose dress had been showing her breasts to a stranger she just met yesterday. She pulled back in embarrassment

“S…So… How will you do it?”

“Magic! Right! I’ve studied magic! I’ve studied it when I was young and not a slave yet!!”

I came up with the most pathetic and generic excuse due to what happened. Of course I wouldn’t have time to think when my kid persona made my brain go boom.

“Eeh?! Really?!!!”

She suddenly went 180 from an embarrassed kid to an excited student.

“Yea—Yes… My previous masters had me learn magic. Being a slave demon that knows magic, they could sell me at a high price.”

Nice follow-up!

“Wooow. So that means I could sell you to the guards for maybe a long years’ worth of supplies.”

“Hey I just crossed that thought off my mind. Don’t bring that up again.”

“Ha ha ha!! Why so stiff?! I’m just kidding! Come on, better get used to the times when I’m cracking a joke. Get a hand of it already!”

“No, I think that would take some months. Who knows if I’d be still here later.”

“What are you implying? And what about you? Who knows how much longer would you have to stay with us? It might be for years or decades.”

“…”

“Ha ha ha!! I’m just kidding! Come on now…”

I’ve thought about it once already, but I immediately brushed it off. But what if what she said was right? That’s what I thought of that moment and I turned silent.

“Hey, really, no need to get so serious. I was just trying to cheer you up. Same goes for me too.”

“It’s okay. It’s just that the thought came on me again.”

“I’m… I’m sorry.”

“Truth to be told. I’m… I… I miss them. I wanna go back.”

It was the kid me that’s getting homesick. I was a kid that’s separated to his home and family and got lost for a day already. Even if I had somebody to accompany me. They were total strangers to begin with.

“Then… Then if you won’t be able to go back ever again, I’ll take responsibility.”

“Say what?”

“I’m going to take responsibility and be your older sister!”

Eh?! Eh?! Did I just got familyzoned?!

She just did to me what I had been doing to Morgianna. That I just realized. It’s a thing that I knew I’ve been doing but got no idea how it must have felt for the other party. Now I know how Morgianna have been feeling whenever I’ve been shutting her feelings down with ‘we’re just family’ thing.

“But. But it’s not the same as with her! I—I—It’s not l—l—like I have a c—c—crush on you or something!! Hmp!”

“Whoah…”

She was blushing. I’ve asked myself if I just made a spot-on confession which was not really intended to be that way.

“No—No!! It’s not what you think…”

“I… I’m still inexperienced with these kinds of things… Besides, it’s too sudden… I mean… We just met yesterday… Everything happened so fast. Think about it carefully. Besides I’m not pretty compared to other girls out there…”

“No! you just don’t know how cute you are!!”

SHUT UP KID ME I DON’T NEED THAT STUPID REMARK! YOU’RE MAKING THINGS WORSE FOR GOD’S SAKE…

I slapped myself to stop my itchy little mouth from talking anymore nonsense which would make things even more worse that they already are.

“I… To you… So that’s how you feel already… Hehe…”

“No! Wait!! It’s just a grave misunderstanding. Please! Your father is going to kill me waaah!!”

---

After I cleared up the misunderstanding (which cost me a huge fraction of my current working brain cells), we started upon the agreed on division of labor. She didn’t ask anymore since I’ve able to give her a proper alibi on being able to use magic. She’s prepared the house’s supply for a whole week, considering we would have to wait for her parents to come pick us up and say that it’s okay to return to the house already.

But I was really hoping that the issue with the imperial guard would be fixed first before the others found a way for pull me back.

“I’ve finished cutting the woods.”

I was still panting. Cutting wood was a part of male’s job, but I was a kid. Even if I used a bit of strengthening magic on myself, my stamina could still not keep up with the piled wood which was going to be used for fire to cook dishes and keep us from the cold of the night.

I wiped the sweat off my face and looked around. The insides of the house were completely made of wood. Unlike the normal houses which used bricks which was sturdier, the whole house was made of wood. Everything, you could only see wood. But they were not just normal wood. They were neatly polished and there were carvings on the walls and the stairs which were neatly carved that seemed to be done in by a great artisan. The color of mahogany-varnished furniture really stood out even if it’s really covered with dust.

If the house was built by her father, then he must have put on a lot of time and effort on finishing it.

“I’m sorry I couldn’t show a house that’s always maintained at its top condition.”

“Ah, no I was not thinking about that. I’m just amazed at how the house was built.”

“What are you talking about? I think it’s really just the same as our house. To whoever built this house, it felt like he rushed it. Would cleaning the house really be worth the time spent? Come on, let’s just laze around.”

Their house was a mix of bricks, concrete and wood. She would not notice the very small details, but the house layout was really seemed to make anybody who’s not familiar with it get lost. It would be unfair to pursuers and easier to the house owners to escape.

Again, I was stuck to the thought that the father must have been preparing for something like a worst case scenario which might happen to them anytime. I would not want to bother Ingretta with that anymore.

“Really? I think it’s quite stylish. There are still lots of parts upstairs that would require cleaning and I could devote my time on restoring the beauty of this house.”

“Hmmm. Suit yourself. I’m going to cook. Have you already lighted the firewood?”

“Yes… Wait—Do you even know how?”

“Of course!! I’ve always watched my mom cook. Easy-peasy.”

“Well then, I’ll start cleaning the rooms upstairs.”

I took a small broom and climbed upstairs. I started cleaning the room, thinking about a scene from a not really distant past…

---

It was some time after I’ve secured my own personal room at the very top of the tallest tower at the demon palace. I’ve selected the location due to personal reasons: to have me just spend my whole rest day away from the catching up palace duties.

It was a bliss. A peaceful whole day of nothing to do and just to laze around: typically doing every nothingness available on whole Mytherion.

Then everything changed when Morgianna attacked.

“What have you been doing?!! It Stinks here! Clean this room now or I will inform father of the things you’ve been doing here.”

And so, half of my peaceful days were now being spent on cleaning my room which was supposed to be being done by my servant/sister/concerned mother Morgianna. She helps me though.

---

“Well, it seems like your teachings are coming handy right now. I’m going to pat your head later when I get back.”

I was cleaning the room. I charged myself with the household chores since Ingretta was such a child and she was stubbornly insisting that she would only do the cooking. I gave her what she wanted but I still got free time so I better work myself up. I could do the resting later.

Besides…

I looked at the ceiling of one of the rooms I entered. It was almost covered in spider’s web. It felt like a giant monster spider girl had been living at the house while being uninhabited that she’s spewed het legacy to every nook and cranny of the entire house. Living in a house full of dirt and dust and web was not really good for someone’s health so I did the cleaning for our own better living.

“Okay! Now you’re looking better.”

After half an hour of scrubbing, dusting, and throwing out unnecessary items, I finished cleaning an entire room. It was already way past noon and it would soon be night time so I was expecting at least a decent dinner from the chef downstairs.

A pleasant dinner, indeed…

Sniff… Sniff…

“A pleasant dinner indeed.”

I lay down the broom, and dustpan and started walking.

I hurriedly rushed downstairs due to the odor I’ve smelled. It was the smell comparable to one of the most brutal abominations I’ve once encountered. All of my life I’ve encountered dire battles and life-threatening situations but that was the very first time I’ve encountered multiple cases in just a span of hours.

I headed to the kitchen. What awaited me there was a gruesome scene of a child doing her best to cook something horrible nice for dinner.

“Uhm… Ingretta. May I ask what in tarnation is this abomination?”

“So mean. It’s what you call ‘something nice for dinner’.”

“No, dispose of it at once. That’s an order.”

Ingretta pouted. It means she knows of the failure she’s created. But still, she’s fighting for some justice that the food might still be edible and safe to eat. Well it’s not. I felt that I have to tell her it’s not. I decided I would tell her it’s not.

“Hmp. I know it’s a failure, but at least try if it still tastes like food. It might still be edible”

“It’s not. Now Congratulations on your new discovery that you couldn’t cook and get the disgrace out of the kitchen right now. And what are you even trying to do, directly asking the kid you pledged to save to eat immediate poison?”

“You don’t have to be so mean. Also, you aren’t one to talk! How can you be so sure that you could cook better than me? We’re at the same age bracket.”

My nerves popped out. It was not the kid me, but the current me that’s triggered by that remark.

“Fine.”

---

“Whoaaah…”

A kid girl was staring at a whole bunch of meal that’s in front of her.

It was a careless move for me since I was not quite confident of my cooking skills too. I’ve read about the basics, and I was thought too by one of my chef proctors when I was still studying. Still, I saw no significant bearing on mastering how to cook on my duties as a maou. At the end, I let Morgianna do every work I discarded when it goes down to the two of us, cooking included.

I expected a better outcome than Ingretta’s abomination but it turned out even better. Not to mention the looks were almost the same as those high class foods while the ingredients were just forest-hunted. And there I was, just following the book.

Everything was there, an appetizer, potato wedges, main course of roaster duck and deer, to pearl-white rice fragrant rice. There was also fresh-harvested leafy vegetables mixed on some sauce I’ve tried to mix too.

Drool…

She was smiling and drooling at the front of the fine dining she might have never experienced her whole life. Again, I’ve made this kid gasp in awe on such things ‘some boy at her age bracket’ could do.

“But all of these…”

She looked at the food, then looked at me, then repeat it for around five times.

“…but this… It’s unfair!”

Of course she would be envious of me, especially when I was the only kid she’s got as a friend that moment. She wouldn’t help but compare the things both of us could and couldn’t do.

“Ah… Hehe… that was because I was taught how to cook by my master who sole me out…”

“Whoever that master you had was, it seems like the things he’s taught you and the stories you’re telling don’t match.”

“Ah… Err… Come, let’s eat before the food gets cold.”

As if I could avert her attention on a poorly constructed argument. But still, she started eating. She’s already lost interest on how I would be trying to cover up for my past. It’s for the good of both of us.

She seemed to quiet down after being able to eat the food I cooked her so I started eating and joined her too. I was pretty beat from a whole day’s worth of chase and work. I might still have the knowledge and capability but my stamina and stress as a kid really wouldn’t catch to the pace.

I needed some rest too.

Ingretta finished her meal fast. She didn’t even said a word after our last conversation. I thought something I’ve said might’ve offended her but that’s just a very childish mindset. I let her be and finished my meal.

After finishing mine, I’ve cleaned the table and left the dishes at the cleaning area to catch up with the seemingly depressed Ingretta at the living room.

The living room was spacious, for the two of us, that is. There were cabinets at the left side of the window, but aside from it, there was not that much other furniture besides a whole set of long wooden bench that’s crafted with soft wool covered in fabric. It was placed in parallel with the huge window frame that had the view to the circular vacant lot where the house was built at the middle of the forest. The current season was a few calendar days nearing the end of fall so the view outside was not really something to appreciate. Besides, we could only see the view being shone upon by the moonlit sky.

She was tired, of course she would be.

But despite everything that had happened, she’s kept her cool and acted mature enough even though we we’re both six-year-old kids at that moment. I started to felt sorry for her because situations led her to being forced to carry responsibility over me. That’s one part of the reason I took in most of the household chores at the house.

When did I start to care too much?

I might be gone tomorrow and later on the memory of being with me would be erased as she grows up on a better environment.

“You’re tired, you need some sleep.”

It was then tears started flowing from her eyes.

“My… So unsightly… I’m sorry. I was just too worried. You finally caught me like this, huh?…”

“I know, I’ve been there. It’s okay to cry. Want me to lend you a shoulder?”

“Hmp. Don’t get too ahead of yourself, demon Fred.”

She still could crack a joke, despite her overflowing tears.

“Do you want to go back?”

“It’s fine. Dad told me not to return and he would be coming to pick us up once things have calmed down. But still…”

I decided to sit beside her.

“Okay then. I won’t be able to say anything other than it will be fine. Everything will be fine. Will that be okay?”

Morgianna was always a worrisome one. And due to her being that way, I was forced to be able to cope up with how she’s always thinking and think of ways to quickly calm her down, especially when it was me that’s bringing her worries.

It was another helpful experience.

“Here, I’ll be more than willing to literally lend you a shoulder. We’ve packed spare clothes anyway so snot and tears wetting my clothes would not bother me that much.”

“Hmp. I’m going to kill you.”

“You can go ahead and try some other day when you’re older.”

Ingretta then suddenly rested her head on my left shoulder as I instructed her. She was being too obedient and it scared me too much.

“If this will make you feel better.”

She continued like that for another three minutes until she pulled away from me. She seemed to have recovered.

“How do you manage to be so strong? We are both of the same age. You’ve experienced far worse of horror compared to my complete perfect child fantasy. How could you still keep up with being fine?”

“Perhaps it’ the experience that molds somebody?”

She suddenly started talking seriously. She was implying that she had too many weak points and that she wanted to know how to be like me. I stopped her from getting more into the topic. And again, I assumed what she needed the most is rest.

“Come on now. We’re seriously just six years of age, there’s no need to think like that. Let’s just continue life and be happy like a normal kid do.”

“But at this situation, I really can’t.”

“Ugh… Just think of your family. Just what do you think they would feel once they come to get us here, and sees you on a burnout state already.”

“You’re right.”

“And I’m already sleepy. All that rich and yummy food made me dizzy all of a sudden. We’ve been working nonstop all day so I think a fair length of sleep would drive away all your worries. You might not know, it will be your family that will be the ones to wake you up. That should make your day, right?”

“Mmm…” –she nodded.

“I’ve prepared the room upstairs for you. Make sure you sleep well.”

She stood up. She was tired too, and was wiping her eyes which were dead tired already. A kid needs to sleep early or she would not grow well.

I was prepared to sleep at the living room since I’ve only cleaned up a single room. I would’ve had a room if only not for the time I spent cooking. But brooding over that won’t do any good and it’s better to sleep at the living room than a room full of spider monster’s spider webs.

Then somebody pulled at the sleeve of my clothes.

Oi Oi, you can’t be serious. Isn’t this bad? Like really bad?

My experiences with Morgianna when I was still a kid was really happening again. It’s so much to think that it’s just a coincidence.

“The living room might be a little cold at night. I’m fine with it. The room must have extra blankets to keep us warm.”

No no no… That’s very inappropriate thing to ask! I’m a seventy-year-old demon and you’re a six-year-old kid!! You can’t ask me to sleep with you?! The gods might immediately pass retribution onto me if I accept that offer!!

“He he he… Seriously, I’m fine here. The cold never bothered me anyways.”

“I… I wouldn’t mind… Besides… you could just think of yourself as my little brother. Come sleep with your elder sister… Also, I’m scared of ghosts.”

“Please don’t word it on a way that’s easily misunderstood.”

She’s teary-eyes. Of course she had no ill intentions and she’s just a pure little girl that’s afraid of sleeping alone far from her parents. Who knows what might happen if ghosts were to really appear.

“Fine fine! I’ll be sleeping at the floor. Just lend me some mattress.”

But that still didn’t alleviate the looks from her face. She was really worried of sleeping alone.

What? Why? Do you have some stuff toy on your bed which I didn’t know and you really won’t be able to sleep without it?

I took a deep breath and calmed my nerves.

Okay Fredericus. Think of her as a kid Morgianna and think of yourself as a Kid Fredericus. Just act cool. Just act cool. Don’t do unnecessary stuff.

I wouldn’t ever try to cross that line. I wouldn’t ever try to think something indecent to a kid girl especially when I’m a kid boy.

“Siiiigh… Okay, fine…”

I escorted the little lady towards the room and slept on the same bed as hers. I ensured that she’s sound asleep before facing the other way and knocking myself asleep too.
