《Ninth World: Prima Natus Vampire》8. Remember sunscreen

The atmosphere was tense with the smell of gunpowder in the air and the sparks that flew were threatening to ignite into a full-fledged brawl. However, before things could get out of control Lilith decided to take action. If a fight broke out things would become troublesome. For starters, if Mia lost her patience and attacked first she would be breaking the rules of the guild. Since both of them are newcomers it wouldn’t be strange for them to be expeled.
Because of this Lilith walked between the two who were less than a meter from each other and pushed them apart with ease.
“Mia, calm down. We are newcomers it would be troublesome if you break the rules now. Let’s just forget about the this incident, kay? And mister, we don’t need your services. We may not look like it but we are actually strong so don’t worry”
After saying that Lilith directed a beaming smile to the man in front of her, however, her eyes weren’t smiling. She isn’t a gullible kid, at least not anymore. After losing her parents and living in a monster-infested forest her instincts have grown to the extreme. She could tell this man had no good intentions from his intimidating aura. However, for her, it was like a kitten trying to look scary in front of a tiger, simply meaningless.
Without a second glance at the man, Lilith took Mia’s hand and left the guild. Of course, the man tried to block their path again, however, he was easily pushed aside by Lilith’s inhuman strength.
“Master, I know it’s troublesome. However, I can’t allow such a thug to threaten you!”
“Calm down Mia, if you were to kill everyone that did such a thing we would have a pile of corpses in our shoulders in no time”
“Master, I know self-control! I won’t kill them, I will just leave them half-dead with at least half their bones broken”
Lilith couldn’t help but sigh as Silver, Shadow, as well as Sapphire, agreed to Mia’s words. She loves her new family but sometimes they are a bit overprotective. Back in the forest, during a hunt, she had been flung away by a monster’s attack due to carelessness. When she came back to the battlefield she saw the pile of gore that had once been a monster. Even though she was completely unharmed her family had gone into a rampage and obliterated the poor monster.
“Anyway, let’s go find an inn to re-apply the sunscreen, It’s starting to wear off”
“Now that you mention it am starting to feel a bit itchy. Okay! let’s find the best inn in town for my beloved master!”

Another sigh escaped Lilith’s lips. After becoming a vampire her body had become very sturdy and rarely felt fatigue. However, mental fatigue was still a problem and Mia was the main source for it. Pushing those useless thoughts out of her mind Lilith and co spent the next hour searching for an appropriate inn. In reality, it took so long since Lilith had to convince Mia to stay in a simpler inn due to their lack of funds.
It’s said that children may mature faster due to certain factors and Lilith was like that. As a matter of fact, she matured faster not because her parents died, or because she had to survive in a deadly forest. No, she matured faster than normal because Mia was too childish for her own good. The once shy and paranoid elf grew extremely bold after becoming a thrall, constantly going in rampages for her beloved master. As such Lilith had to keep an eye and a tight leash on Mia.
“Hmmm, this bed isn’t as good as the one back in the cave but it should do”
“As I said, master! Such a lowly place is not worthy of your presence lets leave and-”
Thwack
“That is enough Mia, how about instead of worrying about such useless things we reapply our sunscreen and get ready for a quest”
After smacking Mia’s head as usual when she starts getting out of control they began applying lotion to their bodies. This is something they made after noticing that Mia’s skin would start blistering after spending a while under the sunlight. It wasn’t a problem inside the forest since the large trees would block must of the sunlight. However, if they wanted to stay in town without attracting unwanted attention they had to do something about it. Thankfully the solution was a simple lotion made from some herbs found inside the forest.
“Master, let me apply it to your body. After all, I am a servant, such tasks should be left to me”
“Sure”
As Mia placed some of the lotions in her hands and was about to touch Lilith’s back blood began flowing from her nose and she fainted. This was a usual occurrence whenever they applied the sunscreen. Now you may wonder, Why does Lilith also apply the lotion even though the sun doesn’t make her skin blister? It is because even though it doesn’t cause direct damage it is still bothersome for her and causes some itchiness.
After fifteen minutes or so Mia woke up angry at herself for fainting once again. This was the twenty-seventh time ever since they left the forest. Mia’s pride as a maid was wounded every time she fainted because by the time she woke up Lilith would have finished applying the lotion to herself. Not to mention that the first few times Lilith had applied it to Mia while she was unconscious. It was simply a disgrace for her to have her master server her instead.

“Unacceptable! How can I be called Master’s servant when I can’t perform such a simple job! I am a disgrace! Master punishes this useless servant! You should whip my back until I bleed, or have me put my hands in the sunlight until they become unsightly! Please tie me up and deprive me of my senses until I start growing mad or-”
“That is enough! I won’t do anything like that and clean your nose you are starting to have a nose bleed again!”
As always it took a while to pacify the altered Mia as she swore to put more effort into her duties as the perfect maid for her master. Looking Mia Lilith remembered a bit of the trauma that Mia had caused her. It happened a year after Mia joined the family. After many occasion where Mia began begging her to be punished Lilith’s patience ran out. She tied Mia and spanked her while blindfolded. However, Mia’s expression only grew lewder and more depraved as she moaned. After seeing such an expression Lilith felt immense danger as if her life had been placed on a thin rope. She swore to never, ever, punish Mia physically again. However, the damage had already been done and what woke up within Mia that day has haunted her until now. Lilith quickly shook her head trying to send those memories to the back of her head where they should never see the light of day again.
Finishing their preparations the merry group headed back to the guild with the intention to take their very first request. Actually Mia was an adventurer before so it wouldn’t be her first request but let’s ignore that. The quests acquired consist mostly of miscellaneous duties, such as delivering letter inside the town helping cleaning stables etcetera.
“The address for delivery should be written on the back of the envelope if it’s not there just ignore it and continue with the next one. That should be it”
“I see, thanks we will deliver this quickly”
After the simple explanation of receptionist, they began the delivery. They have ten letters each and the addresses can go all the way from the slums to the noble district. However, it is unusual for a letter to be delivered to either of these places. A map of the town was also provided, however, it was only loaned if lost the adventurer needs to pay for it. Overall this is an extremely low-risk task, as such the reward is also small. However, this is the perfect task for Lilith and co. The reason for this is that they get to walk all around town and get familiar with it.
The first letter was for a family in the common residential district. From the chatty parents that received the letter, Lilith came to know that their son was working as a soldier elsewhere and this was a letter from him. Next was the letter of an apprentice blacksmith to his teacher. Once again, thanks to the chatty blacks smith they learned that the apprentice is going around in an exchange trip. Things continued like that and Lilith had a lot of fun delivering and chatting with the receivers. However, not all of them were so friendly and some just took the letter and closed the door on them without even saying thanks.
By the end of the day, the merry group had gone all the way from the commoners residential district to the commercial district and from the better of parts of the slums to the lower noble district. They actually repeated the quest a few times and ended delivering a total of sixty letters. They also met a lot of people and businesses and collected some miscellaneous yet useful information.
“Today was fun, though I am a bit tired”
“I still think you should have let me break the bones of those disrespectful people! How dare they close the door on our faces without even saying thanks!”
Woof! mew! twit!
“Guys, please don’t encourage Mia, it’s already difficult to keep her in check as it is!”
Yes, Lilith was tired not due to the constant walking but because she had to hold back Mia every time someone acted a bit rude towards herself. However, the day had been fun nonetheless and their first little adventure went by without much trouble. As a matter of fact, the cute Lilith earned a bit of respect from the guild staff for being a hard-working kid. But tomorrow is a different day, and trouble always lurks in the darkest of shadows.

The Crisis on Planet 9
Welcome to the dream colony Planet 9, where the streets are stained by blood and the buildings are filled with human remains. The creatures roaming among the abandoned cars and flying vehicles resemble almost to perfection the mindless cannibalistic zombies born from the fictional nightmares of mankind. The cities were built in the retro style of the 21st century, but the technology of the 24th century is ever present, mostly within the bodies of those mortally challenged monstrosities. After all, what turned them into these things was not an evolved organic virus, an alien disease, or some sort of magical artifact, it was the corrupted and reprogrammed nanobots within their bodies. Originally, they were meant to heal them and help them access the tech around them, but now they were the origin of this disaster. Among the rotting dead and the Nano-Z, as the survivors called them, Kardian Pandora awakens two months after getting bit by one of them. A young teacher at the local Resonance High, foolish and naive in his own way, but now driven by the Sapient AI in the nanobots inside his body to hunt down other Nano-Z and learn how to survive. For now, his only goal is to become strong enough and rejoin his students and fellow colleagues, foolishly hoping to somehow be able to get back to the time when the undead did not rule the streets. Will Kardian be able to survive in this new savage world or will his naive outlook lead him to a dead end? Volume 1 can be bought on Amazon: Resonance High

Crimson Gloom
Crimson Gloom. The time when the moon turns crimson, illuminating the landscape with its crimson glow. The time when the ‘doors’ to the Crimson Abyss open. One shall gaze into the abyss and gain its secrets and powers. Concurrently, the abyss also gazes into oneself, gaining one’s sanity and humanity. Dimensional rifts appeared spontaneously on Earth, bringing otherworldly demons along with the Crimson Gloom. Bloody battles were fought, noble sacrifices were made. Humans eventually sealed the rifts and successfully defended their homeworld. Alas, the seals were not perfect. The Crimson Abyss continued to exist, slowly influencing Earth and its inhabitants. Half a century of relatively uneventful years passed… humanity slowly descended into corruption, and the majority of them knew nothing of the effects of the Crimson Abyss. Is there only the dreadful gloom left to the world? Can one find brightness in the increasingly gloomy world? The youth who had gazed into the Crimson Abyss had no answer, nor did he care. He only wanted the Crimson Gloom to end, to forever seal the Crimson Abyss. A mistake and a twist of fate led the youth into a seemingly totally different direction. Will he forget his lifelong goal? Will he instead step back onto his initial path that he fervently pursued? Disclaimer: I do not own the image on the cover. Image edited on canva.com. The life of an arrow that turned into a boy
Wortio turned into a boy when the 'vortex that led to a fantasy world for absolutely no reason or the transformed truck kun that was definitely going to kill you or send you somewhere you'll hate door' opened and sucked him in. As to what I mean by turned into a boy, well wortio was once an arrow. Yep, an arrow. Great right! Haha I think it's great to. This can count as gender bend right? Arrow to a boy? No? Fine. This story was inspired by a lot ?probably not). and I just felt like writing something random when my friend randomly went "Kono tadagiri no sekai wa Hakai shimasu!" At me for no real reason! First fic enjoy.
