Mia’s Pov

So scary. I don’t know why but Lilith was really scary just know. I felt like she could kill me in an instant, I felt more afraid of her than the spider-bear. She is so small and young, I have already lived for seventy years. I may not be old in elven standards but even so, I have lived a little over six times her age. Not to mention that I don’t really understand what species she is. She looks human but those eyes and hair don’t fit at all!

I am thankful for her help but I wish I never see her angry like that again. Now that I think of it, she single-handedly killed the bear! My memory is a bit fussy, I was panicking at the time but I still remember her appearing and then the beast was dead. Scary, too scary! What if she decides to kill us? could we do anything? She looks weak but I know that is a facade. Wolf in sheep’s clothing, there is no other way of describing it!

I should have been more careful. I shouldn’t have talked nonchalantly like that. I soured her mood with my stupid remarks, why did I even say that. Evangeline did tell me that my lose mouth would be the end of me one day.

“Erm, I am really sorry, I shouldn’t have said that. Will you please forgive me?”

I can feel the cold sweat on my back. Her aura is so peaceful right now, nothing compared to that terrifying and domineering aura just now. I need to make amends or things might become really bad real soon. She looked at me, her eyes half close almost as if she had no interest in me. However, those crimson eyes held a bewitching beauty and immense danger. I couldn’t help but be lost on them like a sea of red.

“You understand. It fine. I forgive”

Her speech is broken just like before. I don’t think she is feigning it, could it be that she is some kind of humanoid monster? I have heard that dragons can shapeshift into different beasts and even into the eight sapient species. Could it be? Is she a monster that can shapeshift? There are also mimics but I have never heard of mimics taking human form. Scary, she is really scary.

“So Lilith, I am guessing you live alone her. It must be hard”

I smiled just like I had done before. I may be an idiot but even I know that gathering information is important. I am so nervous, my life and my friends’ life is on her hands right now, any wrong moves and we are all dead. Unlike what I expected Lilith shook her head. I didn’t know if she was telling me that it wasn’t hard or that she wasn’t alone. In my heart, I was praying that it was the first option. For gods’ sake, she can kill a spider-bear barehanded of course it wouldn’t be hard for her.

I couldn’t help but gulp down. If she really wasn’t alone then things could be really bad. She said her parents had died, then does she live with an uncle or something? Is that person stronger than her?! She is a child and she is this strong! I don’t want to imagine an adult! But all my theories had been upturned in the next moment. She placed to fingers in her mouth producing a loud whistling sound. Then three small animals appeared.

“Family. Shadow, Silver, Sapphire”

She called these small animals her family, maybe they are pets she had before her parents died? Looking at them I can say they are very cute. A small black cat by the name of Shadow, a silver pup named Silver and a blue and black bird named Sapphire. The naming sense of this child is quite simple I must admit but it’s fitting nonetheless.

Looking at the cut animals my nerves subsided a bit. What can I say? I am weak to cute things. Looking at how she held them lovingly I could tell she really held them as her family. However, I did notice something odd. All three animals have vermillion eyes, its a bit weird and it gives me the creeps.

Suddenly I heard a groan were Stan is supposed to be. He sat on the pelt he had been sleeping in while holding his head before holding the right side of his chest. I had done everything I could to heal him but his ribs were still in a bad shape. I was planning on healing him a bit more after my mana recharged but looks like he woke up first.

“Mia? What happened?”

I looked at Lilith and then back at Stan and explained what I knew. I kept out the part about her little mood change, I don’t know how she will react if I say and I would rather not find out. Stan looking at Lilith had a complicated expression. Worry, anger, sadness among other emotions. I could guess this much would happen. Stan had been an orphan since his parents died when he was young. A bandit attacked their caravan when they were travelling.

“Hey, kid, I don’t know exactly how you did it but you saved my sorry ass. Thanks. However, I can’t let a kid live in the woods like a beast. It just not right. Why don’t you come with us back to the city? What do you say”

No, no this is bad! We can’t bring her back, she is a ticking bomb. If someone angers her in the city there will be many deaths! I am a C ranked mage and I almost pissed my pants when she got angry. I bet there would be the need for a full B ranked party or even an A ranker to stop her.

I was sweating. I wanted to tell Stan that it was a bad idea but Lilith is right here, how will she react if I say something like that!? Damit stan, you and your big mouth! And I am supposed to be the airhead of the group! Really without Evangeline, we would be dead in a day.

I nervously looked at Lilith hoping for her to refuse. If she does, I might be able to convince Stan to drop the subject. However, she only furrowed her brows and began thinking. Please reject, if you don’t my nerves might explode! I didn’t want to continue watching the scene, so I decided to look at Evangeline’s condition. Her breathing is stable and her face has regained some colour.

To keep myself distracted I began casting healing magic on Evangeline again with the little mana I had managed to regain. However, as I finished the treatment a single word fell into my hears. Spoken with a soft voice that enchanted my heart with its beauty. I knew this voice was Lilith, for some reason her whole being held a mysterious alluring aura. I feared it even more, like a carnivorous plant attracting its prey with sweet nectar. It only made me more anxious.

“Fine”

That single word was like that hammer of doomsday falling on my heart. She accepted Stan’s proposal! Fine, there is nothing I can do about it any more. Making her an enemy is not an option either so what I have to do now above all else is befriend her. If we grow close to each other then there should be no danger to my life. Not to mention that she might listen to me and so I might be able to pacify her when she gets angry. Yes! that’s it! You are the best Mia, and the others make fun of you for being dumb.

“So what is your plan? We can’t take care of her you know that”

Suddenly Evangely was seating behind me with a pained expression. Was she, Was she pretending to be sleeping while listing to our conversation? Did she listen to mine too? Does she know about Lilith’s outburst? This could be bad if it’s handled poorly.

“Moreover, we don’t know what she is. Look at her, can you say with complete confidence she is human? or of any of the allied races for that matter?”

“Even so she is just a kid, we can look into that latter”

“Are you stupid? She is dangerous, she killed a spider-bear with ease! Stan get into battle position, Mia behind me”

No, you can’t you said it yourself! She killed a spider-bear with ease, do you think we really have a chance! Evangeline took her danger out and stood in front of me. Stan was stunned however he quickly got into a battle position too. I, on the other hand, was in complete panic mode.

“C-come on Evangeline, there is no need to-”

“Shut it mia, she almost killed you, we can’t risk it. Even if we can’t win let’s go down with a-”

She couldn’t finish as I felt once again that domineering presence. I didn’t dare to look back and see her, those eyes that threatened to devour my very soul! Refuse to look at them. However, our nightmare had just started. In the next second, three new auras rose up. A bit less menacing than Lilith’s but all of them caused my heart to scream.

“F-Fenrir”

“P-Phoenix”

Stan and Evangeline had thrown out those two names of legend. I was afraid, no I was terrorised but my curiosity won over my fear and I turned around. There were three beasts all which I had only seen in books. A Wolf with shining silver fur with a metallic shine, Fenrir. An immortal bird with burning blue feathers, Phoenix. And finally.

“Nightmare panther”

A large feline with a black fur so dark it is said to consume all light, Nightmare panther. In the middle of these three beasts a pair of crimson eyes looked at us with hatred. However, deep inside those eyes, I could also see sadness and reluctance. I knew that if I didn’t act fast to calm Lilith down we would all die. My body moved and I dashed forward prostrating my head on the floor while holding one of her hands.

“I beg of you, please pardon our miserable lives. We will do anything you say so please spare us”

I looked up to see her smile. That beautiful smile only made me feel danger and then she spoke.

“Become mine”
