《A Side Villain’s Ballad.》037 A Demon’s Whisper

Whether it be out of sheer curiosity or pity, Liam followed Neidr as he stumbled down the stairs. Once back to the steady wooden floor of Rotham tower, Neidr's steps grew certain and calm. Liam dragged his beaten and battered body behind Neidr, he was still hurting from the fight in the fields. Neidr deftly made his way through the twisting and turning hallways of the tower, leading to an unnecessarily long silence between the two parties. The suspense was unsettling and lead to a thick awkwardness in the air. Neidr walked all the way back to the room that he shared with Liam before and finally spoke after ensuring the door was closed behind him. By this point, Liam was exasperated beyond belief. Whatever Neidr was about to say better be important. He had left Elizabeth all only in that den of beasts called the nobility, but this villain in front of him seemed to know alot about what had happened and how they had suffered. Liam didn't know what sort of trap Neidr was trying to set, but if it got him closer to helping about the students who had lived through the perils of battle with him, he would not cower away.
Neidr looked at Liam and smiled murkily saying,
"This place doesn't like to have so many peasants in their ranks, If you want proof, just look at the condition of the people you fought alongside and the condition of those nobles at the banquet. One is welcomed with open arms, while the other is thrown into the meat grinder and scorned." [Neidr] Liam tightened his fists, knowing what he was hearing was the truth, that this place shared Neidr's disdain for the poor. Why else would his smile be so vicious while saying such grim things?

"There are more peasants set to enter this place than ever before, that is because of you. So, you get your title and come back in style while the rest of them have to march and slog their way here, you are much like a noble yourself."[Neidr]
"I AM NOTHING LIKE THEM."[Liam] Neidr's smile grew wider and even more twisted as he said,
"Nothing like them, haven't you left everyone there to die? For what? For the benefits you received for being the leader of a generation?" [Neidr] Neidr shook his head and said,
"There is nothing wrong with being selfish sometimes."[Neidr] Neidr shrugged his shoulder as if it were natual and Liam rushed up and grabbed Neidr's collar, looking him dead in the eyes, his spittle flew as he asked with haste,
"What do you mean dead?"[Liam]
"There will be an accident. It happens all the time, the brave souls that passed the test go home to Rotham and some unfortunately fall to their deaths. Tragic really, Strangely enough, it's usually the most outstanding of their generation. Although, the accident won't be so mild as that seeing as you are here rather than there." [Neidr] Neidr let out a laugh and said,
"If an accident won't befall the most precious, it will most certainly befall the masses. By agreeing to come here, you have signed their death warrant and exchanged your lives for theirs. How does it feel to be a little selfish?" [Neidr] Liam slammed his fist into the wooden wall, recited a spell, and created a scorch mark with his magic power, he snarled,
"You're lying!" [Liam] Neidr's smile went from ear to ear as he spoke softly,
"want to make a bet? If I win you have to promise to always work for me, listen to whatever I say even if I order you to die. Of course, to be fair, if you win its vice versa." [Neidr] Liam's eyes shot wide open and he couldn't help, but say,

"Are you that sure or that crazy?" [Liam] Neidr grabbed Liam's hand and removed it from his shirt as he said,
"Its very simple to figure out, count how many come back." [Neidr] Liam stumbled backwards and forcefully sat down on the floor. He looked at his palms as if they had committed some great sin and started to whisper to himself maniacally,
"It can't be it can't be it can't be what have I done?" [Liam] At this point Neidr was a little scared he broke the protagonist, so interceded.
"Well, they don't have to die..."[Neidr] Liam shot up and rushed to Neidr, his eyes bulged as he asked excitedly,
"How!? How do we save them!?" [Liam] Neidr grabbed Liams arms, his eyes colored with excitement and joy as he said with pleasure,
"We kill Professor Loso."[Neidr] Hearing this, and seeing the abject joy on Neidr's face, Liam fell silent, he felt like he was doused with a bucket of cold water and lightening had shot up his spine, his excitement faded to shock,
"Kill? A professor?"[Liam] Liam's voice was shaky, but Neidr's face returned to its usual calm as he spoke softly,
"Yes, afterall, he used his magic to kill students. Isn't it fitting that he is killed by one as well? He will use to beast to swarm the students and slaughter them. Now that you and Elizabeth are gone, they have no leader."[Neidr] Neidr shrugged his shoulders and said,
"They may not all die, but a lot will."[Neidr]
"How do you know all this? Why are you helping me?" [Liam] Neidr gave a helpless smile and put a finger in front of his lips,
"A good warrior cannot abandon his sources at will. As for why I'm helping you, I've already said," [Neidr] Neidr's eyes lit up again as he said,
"You're going to help me kill Loso, that is unless you want all those that rely on you to die. Ah, "[Neidr] Neidr sighed,
"I can't wait to see the look on Zalar's face when his apprentice dies." [Neidr] Liam looked deep in his eyes and decided he would reevaluate this man in front him. He was more and more sure by the second that Neidr had killed Cito Mors. However, he felt that they all had the motive wrong. This man, no, this creature did not kill Cito out of hatred. He did it because it brought him joy. Liam shivered at the thought and looked at Neidr's deep blue eyes with dread. Eyes that appeared jovial, but were truly colder than ice.
Meanwhile, Neidr thought,
'If I save this damn fool's army, he'll have a hell of a lot easier time dealing with what happens in the future. Plus, he should think more about the decisions he makes from now on. Or at least, I hope. As for the source? Who would believe me if I said I knew the future?'

He is confronted by a crazy, enigmatic and powerful being who sees Dante as his chance to escape his prison. Tasked with a grand trial, Dante is dropped on a planet he no longer recognises and starts his perilous journey through the Ascended universe. In this universe resides an omnipotent system that quantifies everyone's existence into numbers, it also assists people in becoming more powerful. Join the main protagonist as he is pitted against powerful monsters, Angelic beings, Demons and much more. He makes friends and loyal companions along the way, unfortunately, he also attracts the attention of powerful galaxy-spanning organisations that want to use his power for their own nefarious purposes. Forewarning regarding the start of the story. This story contains graphic descriptions of violence. The first few chapters of the book focus mostly on characters experiences and state of mind. The protagonist doesn't start off as a hero, he's distressed, confused, scared and struggling for survival. LitRPG elements are sprinkled throughout these chapters but aren't initially at the forefront of the story. If you're willing to persevere, the LitRPG elements and significant progression become more heavily intertwined with the story as they become more relevant. Thank you. *** What to expect *** This is a Fantasy Adventure LitRPG. There’s gore, swearing, bad jokes and lots of struggling. (I like to make the character earn his power.)Book 1: Covers the characters' experiences in becoming accustomed to this new reality. There are chapters that focus on survival and hardship. He starts with literally nothing, gradually he accumulates incredible power. He achieves his power through completing various trials and encounters in his journey to find out who he is, and what he wants in this world. There’s a focus on the mental state of the protagonist and an alternating pace of writing to allow character development to occur. The planned second book will kick off at a much faster pace with more action, focus on the system, and delving into the purposes of the Grand trial assigned to the main protagonist.I aim to deliver a world with Interesting characters, Monsters, Magic, Epic battles, Levelling, System interaction, Skill creation, Trials (Quests), Dungeons, Training and more. *** Release ****Chapters will be around 2000-3000+ words long, averaging 2.5k. I’ve almost finished the first book and am trying to edit and polish the chapters that are being released.I aim to release 3-5 chapters a week. Please enjoy.

Trial of Champions
It all began with a family trip to an amusement park. How were any of us to expect being transported from Earth to participate in some "Trial of Champions," whatever that was supposed to be? Given only an hour to choose the Classes that would come to define our strengths, we were almost immediately torn away from one another and thrust into a deadly game of survival. It wasn't all bad, though, as terrifying as it could be from time to time. The supernatural and magical powers of the Classes were like something out of an RPG, complete with leveling up by killing monsters and completing so-called "Sub-Trials." And despite the juicy Experience to be gained from killing other Champion Contestants, not all of the participants were bloodthirsty murderers; some could be allied with, or even befriended. Even if it seemed like everyone who had been chosen for this Trial, no matter what universe they came from, was at least a little bit crazy. I would survive this till the end, and I'd make sure that my siblings and parents did as well, no matter how many times we were separated from one another. No matter how long it took. No matter what I had to do. --- A first-person litRPG incorporating classes inspired by D&D and other sources. If you like blue boxes but don't need to have huge lists of numbers to scratch your itch, you should be satisfied on that front. Each chapter is, in my word processing document, seven pages long (approximately 3300-3900 words). The Traumatizing Content warning is there because of discussions of certain topics. Nothing that I think deserves the warning actually happens in the story.
