Neidr sat in the booth. Although he could leave after He got the information from Azalea, there was still some small thing to do first. Afterall, he was still expecting some more guests. Neidr let out a crooked smirk, the excitement was building in his gut. He glanced over, watching Azalea make nice with the Prince while Augustus did his best to ignore her. Neidr smiled mockingly,
'That's something we have in common, we hate noble parties.' Neidr shook his head and focused his sight on the entrance, they would come sooner or later. Sure enough,
"Liam Bizalom! Entering! Elizabeth Cerns! Daughter of Duke Elijah Cerns! Entering! Professor Loso! Student of Professor Zalar! Beast Whisperer! Entering!" [Palder]
Neidr got a good look at Professor Loso, he was a young man who looked like he would flinch at his own shadow. Neidr had read the book, but didn't know what this young man looked like. Now he knew. That was all he needed. Neidr headed downstairs with glee, he could finally be free of this place. Walking down the stairs Neidr marvelled at his own advantages. How great was it to see into the future?
Along the way, he saw Elizabeth and Liam. Liam's face was contorted as if they had to twist his arm to be there. He looked at the nobles making merry with utter disdain. Elizabeth on the other hand had a rather blank complexion, as if she didn't even want to recognize that she had come here. The nobles on the otherhand mostly ignored this trio, they spared them a single glance before continuing on with their conversations. A great sign of disrespect, not that Liam knew any better. Meanwhile, Neidr started to slink towards the exit. He knew very well that is was more clever to wait for the trio to mix into the crowd, but he couldn't be bothered to wait.

Just as he made it out the entrance, a firm hand grabbed his shoulder. The door shut behind them, shutting out all the sound from the party.
'Of fucking course.' Neidr put on his brightest business smile, turned around on a dime, and looked into Liam's face.
"Is there anything I can help you with good Sir?"[Neidr] Liam's face was already scrunched up in anger, hearing this he spoke softly and firmly,
"Where did you go?" [Liam] Neidr tilted his head to the side touched his chin and said,
"What ever do you mean?"[Neidr] Acting cute was the penultimate method of calming a protagonist. Liam squeezed Neidr's shoulder strongly and said word for word,
"You left us out there for this?"[Liam]
'Why the hell are you acting so betrayed? When the hell were we on good terms?' Neidr pursed his lips and decided he needed to get a woman to act cute for this protagonist next time, apparently he wasn't enough. Neidr said in a monotone voice,
"Yes, of course I did." [Neidr] Neidr pointed towards the mansion and said, "See that?"[Neidr] Liam refused to look, staring at Neidr with a thousand yard stare.
"It can't bite me. I don't like being bitten, and the fact that you think that I would prefer to be bitten than to be in this... place... you know what, you might have a point." [Neidr]
"Do you think this is funny? Countless people have died!"[Liam]
'Dude, I really don't want to kick you in the nuts and walk away. I swear I don't want to. I just want to end this amicably, but you are making this really difficult.' Neidr sighed in his heart and decided to tell Liam the truth. It wasn't that Liam was stupid, it was just, sometimes, your brain refuses to believe some things.

"Hey genius, you got attacked by creatures, right?" [Neidr]
"Not that you would know!"[Liam]
"Then you got separated from your group to come to this party."[Neidr]
"How did you?"[Liam]
"Then you were taken here by a professor who specializes in the manipulations of beasts."[Neidr] Liam's face was colored with confusion.
"Manipulation of beasts?" [Liam]
"Do I have to spell this shit out for you?"[Neidr] Neidr gestured towards the mansion," That guy you entered with. He ordered the beasts to attack you during the night. Or did you think that animals naturaly charge towards large groups of people with no regard to death? For the love of everything holy, he was announced as A BEAST WHISPERER when he came in. Are you going to ignore that?" [Neidr] Liam started to shake and asked,
"Are you sure? It's really not just one of those weird coincidences?"[Liam]
"Absolutely." [Neidr] Liam turned around and said,
"I'll deal with you later." [Liam]Liam turned around and began to storm off towards Loso. Neidr rolled his eyes so hard, they were almost permanently backwards. He grabbed Liam's shoulder and was met with a gruff and angry voice,
"Don't stop me."[Liam]
"OK, I'll let you ruin your own life and everyone that's on their way back to the capital right now."[Neidr]
"What do you mean?"[Liam] Liam shot his head backwards to look at Neidr.
"I mean if you intend to go over and harm, kill, or confront that man, you are sentencing both yourself and the entire class to death." [Neidr] Liam's eyes shot wide open and he said incredulously,
"Death?"[Liam] Liam narrowed his eyes and asked,
"Why are you helping me?"[Liam]
"I'm not, I'm trying to stop you from ruining my hunt. If you want to know more, come with me."[Neidr] Neidr turned around and walked down the stairs. Which would be a lot cooler if he wasn't jittering the whole way down.

Draugr Cell //Layer 01-- Investiture:
With the end of the only war to ever reach mainland Australia I found myself living out of a small room in an old military compound that had been handed over to the jurisdiction of the Department of Veterans Affairs. The end of the war, unfortunately, didn't mean the end of hostilities. The terrorism trend that had started back in the early 2000's with the attack on the world trade center over in America, had spread to just about every country on the face of the planet. Over time the constant threat from various groups meant the civilian police force was quickly undermanned, under equipped, and overwhelmed. They were simply unable to respond to the daily threats in any reasonable time frame, and in many situations lacked the both the skills and equipment required to deal with the threats to put them down in a 'safe' and expedient manner. Veterans of the war that were being reintegrated into society however, were just about everywhere, all the time. We have the training and the skills required to deal with just about any threat you care to mention, all we needed was access to the equipment to do so. In a world first, under the new Veterans program, the Australian government had taken the rather controversial step of allowing specifically selected veterans to go armed in public. Sure, with Australian weapons laws being very, very strict there were a number of hurdles to get over first, but that's where the selection part comes in. Tangentially that's actually how I met Brianna, my current partner. We work as ringers in Victory City, I thought being thrown into imptomtu combat operations and risking my life on a daily basis for barely livable wages was excitement enough. Then I met her... it... I don't know. An AI unlike anything else out there has wedged itself into my life and decided it needs to... look after me. What could possibly go wrong? **** This is the first book I have released, and my first entry into a cyberpunk universe. There is minimal drug use, a fair amount of sex, a bit of gory violence, and a sultry AI that has decided the main character needs a harem.
