When Arrieta opened her eyes, the scene before her was filled with opulent jewels and beautiful cascading bedsheets. Clothes that made her very being feel inferior somehow. Arrieta couldn't help, but subconsciously, look at her own clothes that were covered with patches. Before her stood a girly with curly red hair and brown eyes. Her dress betrayed her circumstances of birth, it was obvious she was wealthy. Arrieta's heart leaped into her chest. This was her chance. She had never talked to someone so wealthy, but This girl was supposed to be her roommate. It was time to make a new friend, Arrieta extended her hand and was ready to recite a speech she had spoken a hundred times. Before she could a word out, her hand was slapped away. Arrieta looked up at the girl shocked, but quickly looked down. Her eyes were red alike a devil's it scared Arrieta half to death!
"Don't play with me! Tell me where Viv is!"[Lizzy]
"I'm sorry, I don't know a..."[Arrieta] Arrieta was slapped across the face.
"Lies! I know who sent you! You won't get away with this!"[Lizzy]
"I don't..."[Arrieta] Elizabeth slammed her fist into Arrieta's gut, knocking the wind out of her. As Arrieta was catching her breath, Elizabeth grabbed a wand and began to chant. With mystical light surrounding it, piles of colorful clothes began to take shape as if they were wore by invisible people. Two dresses with white gloves grabbed Arrieta by either arm.
"You want to play dumb, let's see how long that lasts..."[Elizabeth] Elizabeth snapped her fingers and the two dresses began to drap her out of the room. The halls were empty, without a soul in sight. Elizabeth dragged Arrieta to an deep pit that hit a hot fiery maw. The two dresses held the farm girl over the edge of the railing. Arrieta could feel the heat on her body despite how far below the flame hid.

"Peasant, this place doesn't care about you, as long as you don't leave a corpse, no one would bother to look for you if you disappeared. Don't you think an inferno is the best place to git rid of things? So, do you want to disappear? Make a good choice." Arrieta couldn't even process what was happening. A bright new future? New friends? New opportunities? Where? All Arrieta could see was this devil that wanted to push her into hell. She had never been so scared in her life. She was frozen in fear, her whole body was trembling.
"Very well," [Elizabeth] The dresses began to shove Arrieta over the edge. Tears lined her face as she thought of her family and how she had bragged about how she would make it in Rotham. Stupid.

'Mom, Dad, Sis, I'm sorry for disappointing you...' Then like a light, a miracle from Asla herself, voices were heard coming from the nearby hallway. Just as the jovial faces of new students came into sight, Elizabeth dragged Arrieta back to safety. Her devilish face took upon a look of deep concern as she gently rubbed Arrieta's hair and chided her,
"You can't go too close to the railing, what if you fell? You can't take such risks even if you're curious."[Elizabeth] Arrieta's face was filled with shock and disbelief. Elizabeth leaned close to Arrieta's ear and whispered,
"Play along, or I will make your life a hell you can't even imagine."[Elizabeth] Arrieta nodded stiffly and without thinking.
"Ah th- th- thank you for hel- helping me." The words tasted like bitter poison coming off of her tongue, but she still had to say them. Seeing the situation, the group of students priased Elizabeth.
"That's miss Cerns for you! A true heroine in the flesh" [student]

"Little miss you should be more careful from now on, that fire pit is dangerous, if you fell in, who could say what would happen. Its a good thing Miss Cerns was here to help you. You should treat her well from now on." [Student]
Arrieta dumbly nodded her head, while Elizabeth turned to the group and curtsied.
"Oh no, its something anyone in my position would do." [Elizabeth]
"Humble as always, Miss Cerns."[Student]
"Nothing so grand, but I appreciate your kind words. I'm sorry, but I am going to have to cut this short. I think this young lady is quite shaken. I'd like to take her to her dorm to rest." [Elizabeth]
"Don't let us stop you." [student] Each side said their goodbyes and Elizabeth dragged the numb Arrieta back to her dorm. Watching for any approaching people on the way there. Once they got into the room, Elizabeth shoved Arrieta onto the floor and said,
"Sleep there, maybe that will teach you to lie. Don't even dare think about moving. You know what awaits you if you don't cooperate."[Elizabeth]

"Wait,' Azalea's monotone voice sounded out,
"This doesn't sound like my sister at all, I don't even know a 'Viv' either. How do I know you're not lying to me?" [Azalea]
Arrieta calmed her breathing and wiped a tear from her eye,
"I guess ya don't. Ya don't have to believe me. Ya asked me what I knew, This is it." [Arrieta]
"I'm afraid that's not good enough for me. It seems like you're trying to slander my Cerns house. Do you have a grudge against the Cerns?"[Azalea] Arrieta turned to look at Neidr who was standing in the corner. He had taken his helmet off by now. Arrieta looked at Neidr with red eyes and said,
"Neidr, I thought you said she just wanted to ask a question,"[Arrieta] she turned to look at Azalea and said, "I don't want to be interrogated about this," then she looked down at the ground and said in an almost whisper,
"Neidr can we leave? I don't want to be here anymore."[Arrieta]
"His deal with me rides on the accuracy of your information, I afraid you are alone here Arrie..."[Azalea]
"She isn't."[Neidr] Azalea spun around and stared at Neidr a flash of anger appeared in her eyes.
"Backing out of the deal so soon? What happened to the beneficial relationship you talked about? All talk I see." [Azalea]
"I'd still like to work together, but that doesn't change the fact I owe this girl my life. There are some hard lines that can't be compromised."[Neidr]
"You'd stake your life for a girl you barely know? How chivalrous" [Azalea] Azalea spat(not literally)
"No, I'd stake my life because it is already owed."[Neidr]

8 676Getting Hard (Journey of a Tank)
Herald Stone always built tank characters in every MMORPG he played. To be immortal—that was his first Goal, a simple childhood dream. However, the turbulent realities of life put an end to his gaming days. Years passed, and Herald Stone, now having attained success and stability, was presented with the opportunity to redeem himself...to fulfill his first Goal. Trivial? Childish? Others might think so. But Herald Stone always fulfilled his Goals—every single one. No matter what. Immortality beckoned in Mother Core Online, and this time Herald Stone would answer. Choosing a long-forgotten race, hidden away in an unknown region, the journey of an immortal tank begins. This is the tale of Herald Stone...getting hard. Schedule: Mon-Wed-Fri-Sat, 10am Central/ 3pm GMT. ~1.8k-2.3k words per chapter. Also published on Scribblehub. My other ongoing story: REND | Royal Road Expect a focus on building a true tank in MMORPGs. Heavy game elements and numbers are present. But actual math will take a backseat to strategies involving skill builds and synergies that steadily become more complex while remaining understandable. The main character is atypical in LitRPGs or web novels as a whole. He might take some getting used to. Character arcs will develop over a long period. What you see now will be different as the main character changes. The start of Getting Hard is slow-paced (more so than others of the genre) and includes world-building and character development before focusing on the LitRPG.
8 635The Vorrgistadt Saga - Archives (2015-2018)
The world of Aelth Myrris is dying; the world-god is in her death throes. This was not caused by rampant environmental devastation, the fall-out of some cataclysmic war, nor a random happenstance of celestial events. This act of murder was entirely intentional and caused by capricious and hidden entities even more powerful than the gods themselves. The many groups that call the world-god Myrris home have been abandoned. Once proud societies are crumbling into ruin and barbarity as those with ambition vie to seize what few bits of fading power they can. Amidst this tumult, there are still some stories to be told about those few who cling to life wanting more than power and trinkets. This is the saga of those few who hope for a better future. Those few who defy the hidden entities that devour their world. Those few who refuse to be the pawns of fate.
