Finishing his chant, Liam threw his hand down and a storm of blades followed. Near the girl's corpse, Neidr immediately grabbed her and hid behind her. Her body was impaled by over fifty magical blades. Liam screamed in rage,

"You can't even leave her alone after she's dead, you damn coward." [Liam]Neidr rushed forward, while the knives slowly dissipated. Liam started to chant once more, his wooden rings covered in light. Neidr stopped, pulled a sharpened stick out of the woman's body, and threw it at Liam. Liam's eyebrows shot up in surprise. He jumped to the side, but his chanting was interrupted. Neidr rushed forward, holding his 'shield,' one of Liam's five rings exploded on his hand. Not much damage was done, but his hand was burned and covered in splinters. Liam cursed and held his hand in anguish. Neidr slammed his shield into, Liam while Liam was not paying attention. The force knocked Liam to the ground, Neidr used the body of the girl to hold Liam there, pinning it on top of him with his knee. Neidr got to work, wrenching rings from the boy's hand. Liam was not idle though, He started to chant like his life depended on it, because for all he knew, it had. It was a race against time, one both of them were determined to win. Seconds felt like hours as Neidr started to wrench the last ring from Liam, but red and orange light started to accumulate in the boy's hand.

'oh shit.' Neidr leaped up and threw the girl's body onto Liam hand. A second later, an explosion rang. Neidr was launched backwards, his ears ringing. The girl's corpse was turned into a confetti of blood and viscera. Along with it, rained extra limbs. Broken and busted black tendrils rained from the sky as the creature inhabiting her body was blasted to smithereens. What was left of her body was just her limbs and head. Her torso was gouged clean through.

Neidr got to his feet first, Liam's face had turned green looking at the sight before him. He clenched his death and looked at Neidr as if he were a dead man. Liam got up and started to...

run away?

'No' Neidr gave a half smile, 'he's using hit-and-run tactics.' Liam was running in zigzaggs making him hard to hit. All the while, he was chanting. That last ring glowed brightly, Neidr felt his heart beating rapidly. Chasing would be foolish, and throwing something would only work if he didn't miss.

'Ok, I'll play.' Neidr began to run in the opposite direction. Weaving through the trees, trying to make the greatest distance possible. Neidr had a smile,

"Die you bastard!"[Liam]

Until he started to sweat. He could feel the heat on his neck, and his death on the horizon. The urge to look back, to seeing the form of his incumbent death nearly overtook him, but he held strong and continued to rush forward. Soon enough, his whole body felt like he was standing in a fire. Neidr slammed his body into the ground. He had been foolish, thinking he could out run a spell. For his efforts, his back was scorched and the smell of burning flesh filled the air. The projectile traveled above him and incinerated several trees before dissipating into the air. Neidr unsteadily stood up and looked towards Liam. How long was it between 'die' and this fireball catching up to him? Twelve seconds? What was the distance? It looked like sixty feet.

Niedr cocked his head and thought,

'He's not the protagonist for nothing, but...' Neidr gave a vicious smile with one side of his face. 'I'll have to teach him a lesson if I get back to the dorms.'

"Still not using magic? I've already burned you, you can't keep underestimating me, you murderous bastard."[Liam]

'I don't have magic, you cantankerous fuckwit.' Neidr shook his head and kept running. If he could get past the burnt trees, he would be out of range in theory.

"Stop running, you coward! Can you only kill us by surprise?" [Liam]Liam started to chant again, but in Neidr's eyes it was too late. Neidr was never much of a runner, but today he was. Afterall, all that stood between him and death was how long he could run. Neidr ran up the hill opposite from where he had originally come, hoping to gain some time out of sight. Neidr would look back every so often only to see Liam chase after him while chanting diligently. Liam was slowed down considerably since he had to say the words correctly in order to fire off his magic. He could not pant or speak hoarsely, otherwise his magic would go awry. Furthermore, he stopped running to fire off his fireball whenever he finished the spell, so he could aim it well.

Neidr on the other handing was sprinting like mad, panting and making noises that would make one think he was dead or wanted to be. Behind him, the forest looked like a catastrophe. What wasn't scorched was already turned to ash. Coming to the top of the hill, Neidr saw something that filled him with exhilaration. Old rotten tree bark. He ripped off a huge piece of soft bark and leaped onto it. His body weight along with the steep slope should be enough to have one hell of a sled ride. Plus, the grass was moist. Sure enough, he was gaining speed. Although that was a good thing, it was also a problem. Neidr found it more a more troublesome to dodge oncoming trees. His adrenaline was pumping, and his heart was filled with excitement. Neidr was getting pretty good at dodging trees, he smiled confidently just as his makeshift sled slammed into a large rock that had been hidden by moss. The sled shattered and Neidr was thrown off of it. Liam made it to the pinnacle as Niedr was rolling towards the bottom. As Neidr finally stopped rolling, he saw a huge plain in front of him. The difference between the heavily forested hill, and the sparse, empty plains was startling to say the least. Neidr, knowing Liam couldn't see him, climbed into a tree and waited.

From a top the hill. Liam looked left and right, but couldn't catch a whiff of Neidr in his sight. In frustration, he yelled out,

"I'll deal with you at the dorm!"[Liam] He walked back with concern written all over his face. This young woman's family deserved to know her fate. What's more was she deserved a proper burial. He would take his time to do that.

Neidr on the other hand was suspicious to say the least. It was probably a ruse to get him to expose himself while walking into the field. Ha! Like he would fall for that. What concerned him more though was that Liam still wanted to fight with him afterwords. How was a man supposed to be lazy while his roommate was trying to kill him?

'Whatever, I'll figure out how to deal with this.'
